Was It North Or South That Killed Reconstruction

After the Civil War, there was a lot of rebuilding and reconstruction to be done but, nothing ever got accomplished. Personally, I think the North is at fault for the failure of reconstruction in the South because, they were concerned about blacks being a part of the government. Also, they were concerned the problems going on in their own government. Northerner’s were supposed to support the reconstruction of the South. And, they didn’t follow through with what they said they were going to do to help. So, here’s why the North is at fault.

Have you ever wondered how reconstruction was killed between the Northern and Southern states. The North was mainly involved in the ending of reconstruction. If it wasn't for Grants corruption and racists depictions of African-Americans then the country probably could've been fixed rather than almost becoming a failed society. Also due to the fact that the KKK had a lot of influence in the south.

The South killed reconstruction by their government. In Document C it says "many Northern voters shifted their attention to such national concerns as the Panic of 1873 and corruption in Grant’s administration". President Grant started focusing on scandals and starting losing focus on Reconstruction.

In the North and South a war happened. They fought in the war for slavery to end in the South, while the rest of the country needed to reconnect as a unified government, which was called reconstruction. The North believed that slaves should be free and have a life full of freedom, and not being owned like property, while the South supported it, and thought very differently. Did the North or South kill reconstruction? Both North and South killed reconstruction with two very different reasons: the KKK and the South were threatening and killing supporters of reconstruction, while the North was dealing with fraud and tried to focus on their own problems.

While they were rebuilding, certain groups of people started to form, there were the Freedmen, the Radical Republicans, the Carpetbaggers, the Scalawags, and the Ku Klux Klan or rather, the KKK.

Many think that the north could have helped more in the reconstruction of these nation but I would have to disagree due to these facts. After the Civil war, many things were changing. Things such as souths power, slavery, and all white superiority but after a war like that something is bound to change. The south killed reconstruction by having very exact plans for the reconstruction and for allowing terror groups.

Who killed reconstruction ? Today we are going to discuss who actually did that North or South. Both North and South had same impact on reconstruction,some of them supported it, some were against.But who actually killed it ? The answer is both. Both of them did some steps to kill reconstruction in North and South.

The victory in the Civil War in 1865 gave 4 million slaves freedom, but the Reconstruction in the south introduced a problem. For a while it was a dream that reconstruction might come true. Reconstruction was the action of rebuilding in the south. Many were hopeful that the Reconstruction may happen. There was terrorist attacks and acts of prejudice going on but who or what killed reconstruction? Although the South was an important contributor The north caused reconstruction to end.

How the South killed Reconstruction In 1860, Lincoln was nominated president, he said,”Those who deny freedom to others deserve it not for themselves.” (Lincoln 1860) The Reconstruction time period happened in the 1860’s. The life for the KKK, was spent killing and hurting people. The KKK was killing political figures, and mainly northerners.

The reconstruction after the Civil War was the attempt to reunite the North and the South. This reconstruction failed because the relationship between the North and South did not change. During reconstruction slaves were still treated the same way, the North and South still hated each other, and hate groups rose. Slaves were still treated the same way because landowners still had the slaves work for them, but instead gave slaves little food or money. The slaves also lived at the landowners house, and the landowners rent was very expensive. This made the slaves in debt basically becoming slaves again. The North didn't get along with the South because a confederate sympathizer, known as John Wilkes Booth, shot and eventually killed Abraham Lincoln

I think the South ended Reconstruction. Any member of Congress who, especially from the South, does not support, advocate, and urge immediate active and thorough measures to put an end to these outrages are cowards.I think this because the African Americans were treated wrong and voted for the Republicans.

Obviously, the beginning of the Reconstruction was when the United States was at it’s lowest point, with no new amendments regarding slavery, with lots of destruction and death, and a lot of work to do ahead. Once things began to progress, things started to look up, especially for African Americans. The United States was becoming a more equalized environment, until the later events from 1870-1877, with the Ku Klux Klan ordeal, and the removal of federal protection in the South. Clearly, this twelve year Reconstruction period had made the US become a better and more controlled place than it was before, but the ending events caused damage to the minorities living in the South which would last for a very long time until the Martin Luther King Jr. era. After the civil war there was an effort to reconstruct the south states and their society. But the north wanted to combine the African-Americans into the society. The south didn't really want the African-Americans they also wanted all the reconstruction to end. The south killed reconstruction because they didn't thrive for their interest in equal rights and their relentless violence towards the African-Americans and the north’s absence of sympathy to the African-Americans.
