Who do you believe is responsible for the death of Romeo and Juliet? In the play Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, Romeo and Juliet died at the end. Whose fault is it? There are many people that can be held accountable for the death and Romeo and Juliet. But for me, Friar Lawrence had the biggest part in the passing of Romeo and Juliet. There are many reasons why I believe Friar Lawrence is to blame for Romeo and Juliets death. The first reason Friar Lawrence caused Romeo and Juliets death, was by agreeing to allow them to marry each other. Friar did not really believe Romeo loved Juliet, but he thought that their marriage would end problems between the Capulets and Montagues. Just days before, Romeo was in love with Rosaline, but now all of a sudden, he wants to marry Juliet. As Friar Lawrence said, ‘’Holy Saint Francis, what a change is here! Is Rosaline whom thou didst love so dear, so soon forsaken? Young men’s love then lies not truly in their hearts, but in their eyes’’ (Act II Scene iii). …show more content…

Juliet wanted to do this because she did not want to marry Paris. It would have been better is Juliet would have told her parents that she did not want to marry Paris. As Friar Lawrence said, ‘’...Take thou this vial, being then in bed, And this distilled liquor drink thou off; When presently through all thy veins shall run a cold and drowsy humor, for no pulse shall keep his native progress, but surcease. No warmth, no breath shall testify thou livest. The roses in thy lips and cheeks shall fade. To paly ashes, they eyes’ windows fall like death when he shuts up the day of life…’’(Act V Scene i). Juliet did not want her parents to know that she did not want her parents to know that she did not want to marry Paris. She knew her parents would be upset. So Juliet threatned to kill herself if Friar Lawrence did not
