Walter Elias Disney
Walter Elias Disney was a film producer, cartoonist, screenwriter, and one of the first innovators for animation. He invented and was the founder Disneyland, an enormous theme park for family and friends of any age. These two theme parks are still popular and known throughout the entire world. He is known as a legend to the world.
Walt Disney was born on December 5, 1901 in Hermosa, Illinois. His father was Elias Disney and his mother was Flora Call Disney. Walt Disney has three brothers and a was also a cartoonist for his school. Later on, at the age of 16, Walter decided to join the army, but, because of his young age, Walter was rejected. However, Walter joined the Red Cross and was sent to France to drive an ambulance for the following year.
When Walt Disney returned from France in 1919, he moved back to Kansas City to achieve his career as a newspaper artist. Soon, Walt 's brother, Roy, found him a job at the Pesmen Rubin Art Studio, and there he had a chance to meet up with the cartoonist, Ub Iwerks. Afterwards, Walter started working at the Kansas City Film Ad Company. He made commercials based on cutout animation while working there. During this time, Walter started experimenting with a camera and did hand drawn animation. His love for animation and for drawing came to a conclusion to open up his own business as an animator.

Working with his brother Roy and a few others Walt worked his way to his dream, and in 1923 he was able to set up his studio in Hollywood where his first famous cartoons were produced. Walter and his partners had previously aired their cartoons dubbed Laugh-O-Grams which were wildly popular and after they created a series of seven-minute fairy tales that combined live action and animation. Out of their studio in Hollywood, also known as the “Disney Brothers’ Studio”, came incredible characters such as Oswald the Lucky Rabbit who was famously feuded over by the brothers and caused their famous split. Of course, even when working, Walt made drawings.When school started back up again, Walt was seventeen years old. He dropped out of school then to try and fight in the war. He got denied to fight because he was too young. So Walt lied about his age, and he got a job as an ambulance driver for the American Red Cross. The Red Cross sent him to work in France, and of course in his free time, Walt drew cartoons. When he came back he didn’t want to work for his dad again, “I want to be an artist.”(Walt Disney) So he moved to Missouri, and when he finally found a job, it only lasted for six months. During those six months, Walt met a man named Ubbe Iwerks. The two men decided to go into business together. They wanted to make animations, or pictures that move. To make money to help make the animations, Walt and Ub made short films, which were about a minute long. Their first production was, “The Alice Comedies.” Walt wanted to make loner movies though which were about seven minutes long. He longed to make fairy tales. Growing up as a child Walt’s father, Elias, was a very strict and religious man. His father would physically beat him and his siblings if any sort of toys, drawings, or any type of entertainment was found around the house. His wife, Flora, feared him too. When Walt was born his father was a construction worker and his mother a stay at home mom to five Disney children. His father later then took up a farm in Marceline, Missouri where they then moved to. Walter always loved all the animals on the farm and felt like they were his friends.
