Redmond was born on march 9,1871. He died on May 24, 1935 in California, Los Angeles. The Redmond’s came from the East Coast to San Jose, California in 1874. Granville became completely deaf at the age of 2 and ½ because of scarlet fever. The California School for the Deaf in Fremont is where Granville went to school. His art instructor recognized his talent as an artist. Theophilus Hope D’Estrella was Granville’s art instructor. The California School of Design in San Francisco is where Granville enrolled in. The W.E. Brown medal was won by Granville for excellence. The California School of the Deaf awarded Granville funds so he could continue his art.
In 1997, four men were accused of killing 15-year-old John Hartman in Fairbanks, Alaska. The four men were George Frese, Kevin Pease, Eugene Vent, and Marvin Roberts also known as the “Fairbanks Four”. Three of the men are Native Alaskans, and the forth is Native American, which they claim they were wrongfully accused due to racial discrimination and an outdated form of police interrogation. Marvin Roberts is currently out on parole while the other three are sentenced between 38 to 64 years. Since the beginning of the accusations in 1997, the four men denied killing Hartman. Furthermore, in 2012 William Z. Holmes signed an affidavit stating him and four of his classmates beat up Hartman after driving around town looking for trouble. If the
Two drunken white men raped a young black girl, Tonya Hailey, who was walking from a small store where she bought groceries. When the news reached her father, Carl Lee Hailey, he went to their hearing, where he shot and killed the two men, while also wounding a police officer. Carl Lee hires a white attorney, Jake Brigance, to represent him in court. Many people and organizations, such as the Ku Klux Klan, tried to sabotage Brigance’s likelihood of winning the case. With the help of a liberal law student, Brigance successfully acquitted Carl Lee Hailey for the murders of the two rapists.
Red Rodney was a famous trumpeter and bandleader in the 20th century. He was born in Philadelphia on the 27th of September 1927 and was known as a child prodigy when he was young (Voce, 2011). At the beginning, Red Rodney taught himself the trumpet and later he went to a school named “Jules E. Masterbaum Vocational” in his hometown Philadelphia to study trumpet (Schwab, 2010). Red started playing with Jerry World Orchestra only at the age of 15 and then he also played with Benny Goodman, Jimmy Dorsey and Gene Krupa (Chesky Records, n.d.). Red’s life was changed because of Dizzy Gillespie, who was Red’s hero when he was a teenager. Red was able to play a gig with Dizzy Gillespie one time at the Down Beat Club and he left Dizzy a lasting impression.
Redmond Gerard, mostly known as Red Gerard will be heading into his first Winter Olympic Event. Red Gerard is 17 years old and is one of the youngest athletes in the Olympics this year. Gerard and his family are originally from Cleveland, Ohio. He was born the sixth out of the seven of his older and one younger siblings. Gerard said that he didn’t want to fall behind everyone else because his family was a group of good snowboarders. It all started when his brothers were recording Gerard do tricks and putting them on youtube.
Maurice Rabbs was born in 1932. He was raised in Shelbyville,Kentucky with his mom and dad.He is the son of Dr.Maurice Rabbs sr.His dad is a physician and civil rights activist.His mom Jewel Miller Rabb was also a civil rights activist.He’s the only child in the house.They live in Shelbyville,Kentucky until their house burned down then they had move to a house in Louisville,Kentucky.
When you think of New South Wales, the name Tommy Raudonikis almost always springs to mind. It’s hard to find anyone with so much passion for the Blues, as well as a fuelled hatred for Queensland as much as Raudonikis, who represented NSW primarily in the 1970’s. The term Redskin refers to the bloody scalps of Native American children, women, and men(Hawks). They were hunted by bounty hunters where they were killed and then scalped. They received awards when they traded in the redskins. These bounty hunters when they hunted them down the Native American skin was referred to animal skin. The Native American mascots should be removed from sports because they are offensive, confusing, and they don't truly represent the team.

Herb Brooks is a Minnesota icon, from wining a High school state championship all the way to coaching the Minnesota North Stars the U.S. Olympic team and everything in between. Playing high school hockey at St. Paul Johnson high and in 1955 led them to a state championship, after high school Herb went to play for the Minnesota Gophers for four years before trying our for the U.S. Olympic hockey team. One of the most prolific and widely successful young adult authors, Walter Dean Myers, was born in Martinsburg, West Virginia in 1937. Born into an impoverished family, Myers’s mother died when he was only two, forcing his father to give up custody of him to foster parents Herbert and Florence Dean. Growing up, Myers spent a majority of his childhood in Harlem, New York where his loving foster parents introduced him to reading. At this time, Myers also began writing to overcome his severe speech impediment.
The innocence projects frees people all the time. That is what happened to Roy Brown. Through the help of the innocence project Roy Brown was released from jail. Through the crime, evidence and the exoneration.

Sir Walter Ralegh is best known for his naval exploration, works of poetry, and close relationship with Queen Elizabeth I. Ralegh was born into a family of six kids in Devon, England (Wolfe). His early life remains to be somewhat of a mystery. He is believed to have been enrolled in Oriel College and failed to earn a degree. Ralegh was a talented poet, beginning with his first publication in 1576 (Wolfe). He wrote in simple style and his work often reflected his experiences. In 1578 Ralegh’s half brother was granted a six year patent for naval exploration and Ralegh went along for the ride (“The Life of Sir Walter Ralegh”). Despite the unsuccessful voyage Sir Walter Ralegh was granted a place on the Royal Court just two years later (Wolfe).
Walter Leland Cronkite, Jr. was an American broadcast journalist who was born November 4, 1916 in St. Joseph, Missouri. He was famous for his anchorman role for CBS Evening News, “his style [was] honesty, impartiality and level-headedness, and “And that's the way it is” was his jaunty nightly sign-off.” (Biography.com Editors) Cronkite reported several breaking news stories, especially during World War II bombings, Nuremberg trials, Vietnam War updates, Iran Hostage Crisis, and the assassination of John F.
