Walt Disney was a very influential man to the entertainment industry. He made animation a whole new type of entertainment. Although Walt went through many struggles and problems, he pushed on and eventually saw results for all his hard work. Many hardships got in Disney’s way such as unsupportive parents and even bankruptcy; Walt pushed on through, always creating, working hard, and persevering to accomplish his dream.

Walt Disney is extremely known for being a film producer and popular showman. He was very recognizing for being an innovator in animation and theme park design. Disney was a visionary in terms of cartoons. Disney views and visions came from his persistence for the future. Walt Disney strives upon building Disney’s to have core strengths in three areas of entertainment and recreation, motion pictures and videos. Walt created his first animated character, Mickey Mouse.

Success is the act of achieving something, success usually comes following the practice for the desired event. We have all heard that you can only succeed with practice and preparation, which is a true statement; to my knowledge. However, some feel differently towards this statement they either feel that success can come with either natural talent, or pure luck. With this being said, I can understand why some may feel this way, but the truth of the matter is that it's a necessity to practice and practice efficiently in order to succeed.

Walt Disney: The Triumph of the American Imagination is a biography about Walt Disney from his family’s history to his legacy he left after his death. Walt Disney is well known across the globe for his movies that changed the way animation was viewed by the public. When he started out he had to hand draw every single slide that would go into his movies and now his company uses computers to animate projects that would have taken Disney a lifetime to produce. Neal Gabler, the author of Walt Disney: The Triumph of the American Imagination, is most well known for his other books, An Empire of Their Own: How the Jews Invented Hollywood, which won the Los Angeles Times Book Prize in history, and his biography Winchell: Gossip, Power and the Culture of Celebrity, which Time named as the best nonfiction book of the year. He also writes for both the New York Times and the Los Angeles Times. He is married and lives in Amagansett, New York. This book is a very good choice because it enlightens the reader about one of the most popular cartoonist of all time. Although everyone is familiar with his work, not many are familiar with the life he had before and after his cartoons became famous. It is really interesting to make the connections between the man and his work because after reading this book, the reader gets a deeper understanding of Disney which leads to a better comprehension of his creations and what made them so revolutionary.

Walter Elias Disney, who was also known as “Walt,” was born in a small town in Chicago, Illinois, by a father who was an Irish-Canadian descent, and his mother who was a German- English descent. Walt was one out of five children, four brothers and a sister. Their names were Herbert Arthur Disney, Raymond Arnold Disney, Roy Oliver Disney, and Ruth Flora Disney. Walt was the oldest one out of the five. While he attended school, he was introduced to Walter Pfeiffer, who decided to show Walt vaudeville and the art of making movies. Walt decided to drop out of high school, at the age of sixteen, to join the army. He was rejected to join because he was too young of age. He and a friend decided to join the Red Cross, where Walt was an ambulance driver during World War II. In 1919, Walt moved to Kansas City to begin a career in art, and worked for the newspaper, as a newspaper artist. He met Ubbe Iwerks, and he and Disney soon made their own commercial company called, “Iwerks-Disney Commercial Artists.”
