Disney is a company that was developed from a small cartoon studio to a huge billion-dollar household name. It is almost guaranteed you’ve heard of them by name or one of their many assets such as ESPN, ABC, or Marvel Studios. In this portfolio, I’ll be going over Disney’s corporate locations, their employee code of conduct, operating principles, and several other aspects that make the Walt Disney Company what it is today. First I’d like to take a brief look at their history and years of operation. Starting in the year 1923, Walter Elias Disney signed a contract with M.J. Winkler agreeing to produce a series of animated short films called “Alice Comedies”. Little to Disney’s knowledge, this would be the spark that ignited the Disney Brothers Cartoon Studio, which is more commonly known today as The Walt Disney Company. That being said, I’m going to focus on Disney’s corporate offices as opposed to the Walt Disney World theme park or any other Disney-owned companies. One of the main, key concepts Disney uses for their employees is to actually not call them employees at all, instead they’re called “cast members”, even if they work in the corporate office. Disney is all about keeping up with the illusion of “magic” and they encourage their employees to do the same. Employees at disney are expected to always have a smile on their face and be friendly towards customers, no matter how hard their job is or how bad their day is going. The Walt Disney Company headquarters is located in Burbank, CA, and they have locations all over the world with some of their bigger offices located in Tokyo, Japan, Shanghai, China, and Paris, France. The company’s phone line is open 24/7 for any questions and their corporate office is open from 9 am to 5:30
