Walt Disney was born on December 5, 1901 in Chicago, Illinois. He had an older brother named Roy Disney and his dad was Eli Disney. He always dreamed of creating something big when he was older. As he became older he began creating characters. He created Mortimer Mouse which later became Mickey Mouse. He also made Oswald, Donald Duck, and many others. All of the characters he made were animals with a name. Walt Disney along with Roy Disney built two theme parks. Walt Disney died on December 15, 1966 in Los Angeles, California. Walt and Roy Disney created an empire of theme parks, movies, and memorable characters from a recreation of a fairy tale by the Brothers Grimm.

Walter “Walt” Elias Disney was born on December 5, 1901 in Hermosa, Illinois. His father was Elias Disney, an Irish-Canadian, and his mother, Flora Call Disney, was German-American. Walt was one of five children: four boys and a girl. His siblings were Roy, Ruth, Raymond, and Herbert. He began drawing, painting, and selling pictures to his neighbors and family friends in Marceline, Missouri, where he lived for most of his childhood. In 1911, the Disney family moved to Kansas City, where Walt found his love for trains.
