Who is the man responsible for classic childhood films such as Cinderella, Snow White, Alice and Wonderland, and what many people call his greatest creation ever Mickey Mouse? All of these were put into action by Walt Disney. Disney is the most legendary cartoonist to ever live, and many people still reap the benefits of Walt Disney’s vision through the theme parks, Disney World and Disneyland.
Disney was born in Chicago, Illinois but later moved to Missouri where he spent most of his childhood. Walter Elias “Walt” Disney was born on December 5, 1901, in Chicago, Illinois to Elias and Flora Call Disney (“Walt Disney”). Soon after his birth the family moved to Marceline, Missouri where Disney lived most of his childhood. In 1911, they moved to Kansas City where he developed a love of trains because his uncle, Mike Martin, was a train engineer in the area (“Biography”). Disney attended McKinley High School in Chicago, where he took drawing and photography classes and was a cartoonist for the school paper. Numerous successful films such as Pinocchio, Fantasia, Dumbo, and Bambi became classics. Disney completed his Burbank Studio in 1940. During this time, he used this studio to aid the U.S. Government in World War II, which helped civilian and military morale. In 1945, he combined live action with cartoon animation to produce films such as Song of the South and Mary Poppins. More than 100 films were produced by the Disney studio (“Walt Disney Short Biography”). During these years of filmmaking, Disney’s creative ability was also in the process of creating a world famous theme park that would change the enjoyment of family
