Disney College Program The Disney Program is a semester- long paid internship at a Walt Disney Resort where students gain experience by working there, while attending college-level courses. These programs can be found at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida or at Disneyland in Anaheim, California. The Disney Program has some requirements for participation. The applicant must: be currently enrolled and taking classes at a college or have graduated in the past six-months, be eligible by their school for participation, be at the age of 18 or older, and be able to work without any restrictions. The disney exploration series are seminars where the participants learn how Walt Disney Resort operates. Disney professional development studies give the participant the ability to study a specific part of the Walt Disney World Resort business. The Collegiate courses offered at Walt Disney World Resort are classes, that offer credit, that focus on expertises within the Walt Disney Company. Lastly, distance learning are online courses. At the Disney Resort only collegiate and seminars are offered. The Collegiate Classes offer credit and focus on expertises within the Walt Disney Company and the Seminars share specific details about Disney on its lines of business and also offer networking opportunities with Disney Executives and Leaders. Within these programs the specific courses I would want to take are: Marketing and Sales, which is under Disney Exploration Seminar Series in the Walt Disney World Resort. There are also gender specific requirements such as men can have well trimmed facial hair and short hair. For women there hair can be no longer than their shoulder, they can’t have shaved heads and if makeup is worn it needs to be well blended. This rules of dress and appearance will help participants greatly in the future as this is a standard that is found across many jobs and businesses. “What do you want to be when you grow up?” That’s easy, I want to be a Disney princess! Of course this was my answer 15 years ago, and like any other 6-year-old girl, being able to sing and dance just like the Little Mermaid would be life changing. Well, considering we had the same name, I was half way there. Even though I’m older and much wiser, my dreams haven’t changed much, but have only become more realistic. Don’t get me wrong. It would still be amazing to become a Disney princess, but my dreams would still be fulfilled, if I worked for the Walt Disney Company. With this said, my ideal position within the hospitality industry would be working in one of the Disney World theme parks as a guest service manager because they are in charge of guests’ satisfaction, create a friendly work environment, and are offered great benefits.
