Tom is a very good example of how people can be different but at the same time, exactly alike, from being talked bad about, to being disrespected in his own face, Tom was a caring man who did nothing but good but because of stereotypes, was blamed for something he didn't

Sojourner Truth wasn't just a hero to blacks, slaves, and women. She was also an abolitionist and a champion of women's rights speaking through the country. She acted on her feelings about life and the way it should be. But, in Battle Creek, Michigan where Sojourner Truth spent her last years, and everywhere else, she is known for her powerful speeches that traveled the nation advocating for the fair treatment of freed slaves. Sojourner Truth was born in 1797, born into slavery, and was given the name Isabella Baumfree. Sojourner’s parents, were also slaves, in Ulster county N.Y. Because slave trading was very prominent in those days, Sojourner was traded and sold many times. Sojourner ran away from slavery before the Emancipation act was published, and changed her name to Sojourner Truth. This name has great meaning, because she intended on telling the truth to all people about slavery. Sojourner also wanted a religious name. Sojourner set out on her mission, to educate all people on the subject of slavery, and became a very powerful speaker. She became a very influential speaker for women’s rights, as well for the abolishment of slavery all over the country. She became famous for being the first black women to speak out against slavery. Sojourner died at her home in Battle Creek, Michigan. She left behind a legacy of ideas and principles for other great black leader to follow. She will always be remembered for her courage, perseverance, diligence, and patience
Thomas seems to have a gift in his storytelling, they may seem like crazy stories he tells over and over but his stories may carry some kind of meaning. “We are all given one thing by which our lives are measured, one determination. Mine are the stories which can change or not change the world.” (Alexie P. 518) His stories about Victor’s father are why he went out of his way to help Victor. It took Victor a trip to Phoenix to see that Thomas was there for a reason, to help him because they were cousins.
When analyzing Bigger Thomas, Richard Wright’s protagonist in the novel Native Son, one must take into consideration the development of his characterization. Being a poor twenty-year-old Black man in the south side of Chicago living with his family in a cramped one- bedroom apartment in the 1930’s, the odds of him prospering in life were not in his favor. Filled with oppression, violence, and tragedy, Bigger Thomas’ life was doomed from the moment he was born. Through the novel, Bigger divulges his own dreams to provide for his family and to be anything but a “nobody.” Although Bigger struggled to fight through obstacles to pursue his dreams for the future, his chase for a better life came to an abrupt
In short, Mrs. Jones is a great role model by seeking the good in others. Looking past the bad, giving second chances, and kindness are characteristics that help people seek the good in others. Maybe the world would be a better place if, people found the gold in others instead of the dirt. It is important to seek the good in

Throughout this journal, Tom Robinson can be characterized as kind and compassionate person. First off, Tom Robinson can be characterized as a kind person. For example, Tom is willing to help Mayella even though he knows that there is going to be no payment. Tom says, “‘She’d call me in, suh… and I knowed she didn’t have no nickels to spare’”
These many details contribute to her important role in the novel. Tom saw in her eyes a motherly instinct, the one who heals, and an influential person in their lives. “From her position as healer, her hands had grown sure and cool and quiet; from her position as arbiter. She had become as remote and faultless in judgment as a goddess” (100).
Through hard work and persistence, she received it. She demonstrated that she was more than capable of taking care of herself as she changed people’s attitude to those who were deaf and blind and fought hard for her beliefs. Leslie Garratt, the author of Helen Keller: A Photographic Story of Life stated, “And now after a lifetime of effort and optimism, she was one of the most best-known and most respected women in the world” (Garrett 8). Keller demonstrated to all that a true hero is one that overcomes a struggle by never giving up. Just because you have a struggle, you are not considered a hero. A true hero never gives up no matter how hard or long it will take until he or she demonstrates that a tough obstacle can be faced and defeated.
Along with evil masters, I was glad to know that there were also kind masters who saw the good in all; even the colored. These type of people were portrayed by the Shelbys', Augustine St. Clare, Eva, and Miss Ophelia. I was happy that even during the worst times, people like them had the courage to go against the world and spread happiness in the world. However, I found it wrong that calamities struck to only those who did good. For example, due to debt the Shelbys' had to sell their slaves, Augustine St. Clare and Eva both died before they could free their slaves, and there was nothing Miss Ophelia could do to save Uncle Tom from being sold again.
