Violin Description

Jon Franklin Lee Curtis would like to a violin to play. His old one is broken and can not be fix due to missing pieces. He wants to play mine, but it is too big and important for him to use.

Like any stringed instrument the player must be able to easily adjust the height of the strings, tune their instrument for pitch, and know how to check and adjust the pegs. Even though my makeshift cardboard violin didn’t make any sound, I still carried it with me everywhere, always eager to show people mow much I had learned.I have been playing for twelve years now and even though I have enjoyed most of it, it has not always been so easy. There have been more late nights, crying in frustration over something I just could not get, but I made it through. Playing the violin has given me the nations determined attitude to set my mind on something and to not stop until I reach my goals. Being a musician also has also made me hyper-aware in relation to anything musical.I tend to pick up things that the average person doesn’t. You can hear the subtle nuances that might blow over many people. Most people might only hear the different emotions, but I can tell you what made it so sad and what instruments were used at what time to convey such emotion. The violin is the smallest and highest pitched string instrument. It is played by a violinist or fiddler. When playing, the violinist holds the violin between the top of his left shoulder and the left side of his chin as he draws the bow across the string or plucks the strings with one or both hands. So first I went to Christian Eggerts. When I went there and asked for the viola they held for me, I was sorely disappointed. The viola they had, had the exact same timbre as my school viola which, though not bad, wasn’t what I was looking for. I was disappointed, so I decided to look at the other music shop, called The Baroque Violin Shop. When I walked into the white walled room, the first thing I noticed was the three tables full of violins and violas. I walked around for a while, before working up the courage to ask one of the workers if they had any 16 and ½ or 17 inch violas. They had one, a 16 and ½ inch with a light finish, and slight striations on the wood. The strings are worn, and my fingers have grey lines indented on the tips, after I’ve played for hours. When I was in fifth grade, I was caught between two worlds, playing a woodwind or string instrument. If I played a woodwind instrument I would have to blow in it to make music, but string instruments are played with a bow to make music. After much thought, I decided that the violin was the best instrument for me, because it has a beautiful, unique sound, plus the possibilities are never-ending. I came up with a problem that concerns many parents. It seems as though violence plays a role in the lives of many people. Even innocent children are affected by the negative things that go on in the huge world we live in. Television violence is often overlooked because of its ability to retain children’s attention. Countless mothers and fathers put their children in front of the television so they can have time to themselves. As a result, the kids are subjected to unnecessary media violence. I feel that this violence has a great effect on the children’s lives.
