A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens is about a time where the citizens of both France and England are falling to oppression and violence by the government. With corrupted politicians taking place; is making the citizens live their lives ruled by twisted people. One of the big themes in A Tale of Two Cities is oppression and violence, which is making life difficult for those who are innocent and want to live their life without pain as the corrupt government ends up making everyone feel suffering. Politics is a main contributor to oppression and violence as they tend to care more about themselves. They start treating them as trash and not give a second of thought about their humanity. In ‘1984’ injustice occurs when the government removes the civil rights of their citizens, they heavily survey their actions and any thought of rebellion can lead to arrest. ‘The Party’ the name of the new government undertakes in these activities to insure they are able to keep their position without being challenged. The government in Syria led by President Assad uses excess force and treats their people in a inhumane and uncivil as all the rights of the people are being taken away; in such an unjust and violent way, which continues to separate the population and cause more uneasiness between the people as they don’t know what will happen. In A Tale of Two Cities the citizens are forced to abide by the rules set by the French government, with these rules set; if a person breaks them they might be arrested and sent to prison with ever being able to prove their innocence in a trial or even be sentenced to a death penalty which keeps the citizens afraid from doing anything to fight back. “a law of the Suspected, which struck away all security for liberty or life, and delivered over any good and innocent person to any bad and guilty one; prisons gorged with people who had committed no offense, and could obtain no hearing.”(3.4.10). Injustice by the government makes the people think they are against them which can lead to hate of those allowing the injustice and not letting people to express their civil
