Video Reflection Nickel is element number 28 on the periodic table of elements. Nickel was isolated as an element in 1751. Nickel had a breakthrough during the 19th century where it was discovered that if you added nickel to steel you could potentially create very strong armor. It is believed that nickel originated from meteorites in outer space. The big breakthrough of refining nickel came in the 1890 due to Ludwig Mond’s carbonyl process to purify and extract nickel. Ludwig created this process after realizing the reaction between Carbon Monoxide and Nickel chemically eroded his pipes. Ludwig ended up creating Nickel Carbonyl which is a colorless liquid that boils at 43 degrees celsius. The important thing about Nickel Carbonyl is that you
Nickel is a prime advocate in Australia’s economy with it being one of the worlds largest producers, supplying around 13% of world production. Due to nickel’s distinctive properties, it creates primary alloys (almost 80% of nickel) that are tough, rust resistant, can withstand very high and low temperatures, and can be manipulated into any shape through its malleability/ ductility. Furthermore, nickel has countless other electrical, magnetic and heat resistant properties that are shown to be beneficial within the formation of these alloys. For example, almost 60% of nickel is used in the production of stainless, which is a combination of metals added to iron. Such metal alloys then go on to be used in construction, manufacturing of technology, electroplating, and even in batteries due to its electrical properties. Nickel is also a crucial nutrient in several chemical process’ inside the body, including iron absorption, averting blood conditions such as anaemia, and treating feeble bones.
I have been in AVID for 4 years now, currently in my fourth year, I first found out about AVID from my older brother and cousins. My first year in AVID was in seventh grade, they mostly helped us organize our binders to keep our school work from getting misplaced and helped us organize our notes Cornell notes style. When started AVID in high school it prepared me a lot more for college. Since freshman year AVID has helped me make sure I take all the necessary classes I need for college, like the A-G requirements. AVID makes sure we are involved with school clubs and/or sports to helping sign up for the ACT and SAT. Because of AVID I have learned to be more organized not only in school but also in my daily life. I have learned to keep a daily
Nickel atomic number is 28 and it has 28 protons and electrons and 31 neutrons. Nickel has four energy levels there are 2,8,16, and 2 in each energy level. Nickel was discovered by Alex Fredrik Cronstedt in Sweden in
I became part of the AVID program in eighth grade, I had no clue what the program was about; most of the time we worked on subjects that we needed help on, learned how to be organized, and practiced public speaking by having small socratic seminars. In a way, the tactics that my eighth grade AVID teacher taught me helped me become successful for my college preparation it helped improve my grades in the classes that I was struggling in and pushed me to take challenging courses. In my sophomore, junior, and senior year of high school, I spent my time reviewing different schools around the state and out-of-the state browsing through the financial aid assistance, majors and minors, location, and diversity to choose from. Junior year was the best
I work in Interventional Radiology (IR) we took care of a patient who needed a new percutaneous nephrostomy tube. The procedure was considered urgent, the patient had a mass blocking the right ureter, the consulting physicians felt the patient was becoming septic. Placement of a nephrostomy tube requires the patient be positioned prone on the IR exam table for approximately an hour, and the patient is anesthetized using MAC sedation when a patient is getting a new nephrostomy tube. After the nephrostomy tube is placed the patient recovers in IR and then returns to his room until he is ready for discharge. Once the patient is discharged from the hospital the patient must have a visiting nurse, or the patient must be discharged to a nursing facility so a professional health care provider will be monitoring the nephrostomy tube post discharge. Patients are required to follow up with IR for routine nephrostomy tube exchange every 3 months after the nephrostomy tube is placed until the tube is no longer needed.
Have you ever seen the film Hidden Colors? If not, here’s my review: I loved the documentary, from its empowering accuracy, to the subtle acknowledgement of the erasure within history. I watched this in the seventh grade at eleven years old--and even then, I loved this movie that served as a memoir dedicated to iconic, forlorn past of African-American people. Many who have seen it may wonder where I’d seen such an impactful film. Why did I watch it? Were my parents okay with it? What did it entail? To answer briefly, I’d watched Hidden Colors for the first time in class for a history assignment, with my predominantly African-American classmates, and African-American teacher. My parents loved that I’d been exposed to the lies and truth
As a student who guides herself and provides her own backbone to her aspirations, I would not have believed an academic program like AVID would have given me a significant support system that would direct me to the path of fundamental success. I discovered AVID through their recruitment event for incoming high school freshmen. I learned that the program aimed to help students achieve their goals of attending a four year university through mentoring and an enhanced education. Being a first generation student, I was interested in joining the program in seek of the benefits I could acquire to a quality education. When I joined the program, I learned that I gained more than what I had expected. AVID provided me with academic skills I needed to
“What precisely is the cinema of attractions? First it is a cinema that bases itself on the quality that Leger celebrated: its ability to show something.”
Your summary was easy to follow and provided the overview I needed to understand the subject and main events. The positive economic incentive used to stimulate improvement failed, as it did not compensate for the gap left when America removed God from education. While most teachers would probably follow the guidelines of their administration and would understand the rational provided, the need to be compensated must have been stronger. I would recommend the school system consider an external review process and instituting feedback directly from the teachers and parents together to an impartial board.
The video was interesting and was truthful. The students that were in the video, were real people in our country, with real problems. The student in the video was jsut a fraction of the number of cases in the United States that is happening on a daily basisi. The vidoe did show what it is to be a young person that struggles from the inequalities and society. The students do struggle, but at the same time their was a bright sight, there was people that are willing to help these poor kids to achieve thier goals. The best part was that people will continue to help kids in that
All of the abilities that I have had in drawing and painting remind me the time that we were together. By the time, you left something in every single moment of my life that makes me feel that I am close to you again. Colors in the new piece that I recently drew, makes me think about your favorite color, gray! Dictatorship and democracy are fighting in this piece of painting, democracy of love and dictatorship of thoughts.
This semester I learned a lot about writing in English 151. It has been a roller coaster ride with these essays for me this semester. I learned step by step how to write a good essay and how to have your readers be engaged in what you’re trying to tell them. Each essay I did has taught me something valuable I can take to the next level of English. I feel as if as the semester went by I did not take my writing that seriously and that reflected in my grades I received in each essay. It made me a better student and writer and it will reflect next semester. In this essay, I will reflect on what I learned throughout this semester that you should apply in your writing when you begin English 151.
Robert Moses’ Kin is an amazing company to watch perform as well as to be able to take classes with his dancers Vincent Chavez, Norma Fong, and Crystal Dawn Bazemore. This company offered aspects that are used in class, but I felt like their combinations worked in intricate details. The dancers in the performance did two different pieces from their earlier works called “Speaking Ill of the Dead” and “Never an End for Peace.” These pieces displayed technique visuals that were being discussed in class and brought to the performance with the company. Overall, the way that they described their movements can give me further understanding with how to further on my dance technique.
Obviously, the goal for the team every year is to win, but we also like to have fun. Natalie Meloche elaborates on how she feels about spending countless hours at the studio perfecting her routines, “Going to dance class is my favorite part of my day because I can always escape whatever is going on in my life and just let loose and dance. I also love to see my friends and teachers as well.” In fact, three of the four girls I got answers from said they enjoyed going to class while the fourth had mixed feeling about it. Although for the majority of the girls, being in class was their favorite part. My favorite part was all of the team bonding that we did. Outside of the practice rooms, the team went to the movies together, painted pottery, played laser tag, and took trips to the cider mill.
After spending a semester in improvisation class, I can honestly say that this course has been one of the hardest, annoying, but probably the most relevant and important dance classes I have taken thus far in my dancing life. This course also turned out to be the complete opposite of what I originally thought it was going to be like. At the beginning of the semester, I was a firm believer that improvisation, was any movement that a dancer does that is on the spot, random, wild, and without thought. I also had this big belief that when a dancer performed an improvisation, that it was supposed to make sense and show the talents of the dancer. With that being said, I came into the class thinking that I was going to spend the semester listening to different types of music and figuring out how to improvise to those music selections as well as learn how to improvise different dance genres. Essentially, I thought I was going to learn how to improvise for the point of being showy and performing. Of course, through this course, I realized that yes one can improvise for the point of performance, but in this class, we did so much more than just do showy improvisations. Instead, I got the chance to really explore my natural self as a dancer and learn the science behind improvisation.
