Little by little, gaming technology became more complex and in 1972 the Magnavox Odyssey was released by Ralph Baer as a video game console for home use. However, at that time Atari’s video game system had become one of the most successful systems on the American market, until the market crashed in 1983. There was another competitor at this point too, a family owned company called Nintendo, which produced traditional playing cards in Japan before expanding into developing other kinds of toys and video games with the help of Shigeru Miyamoto, who had a bit part in the creation of games like Donkey Kong, Super Mario Brothers, and the Legend of Zelda. First person shooter games tend to give players the same visual perspective as the character in the game and award points for aggressive behavior, which some people see as an act of encouraging aggression. In addition to that, exposure to violence could cause players to become less sensitive to the pain of others, which can easily spark fights in-between people. While there is always the chance of making new friends over public chats in video games, there is also the chance of encountering cyber bullying, which can be hard to handle as time goes on. Video games some sometimes used as a way for someone to escape what is going on around them, sometimes even making the player lose track of time spent playing. Like any electronic device with a bright screen, video games can cause sleep loss by reducing melatonin, the chemical signal that tells your brain when to sleep, which can cause

Video games have been around since 1958, when physicist William Higinbotham created Tennis for Two to entertain guests for the Brookhaven national Laboratory. MIT arguably created the first real and widely known video game in the late 1960s, Spacewar!. Many people think that the first commercially available game is Pong!, this on the other hand, is not true. The first commercially available video game was called Computer Space. It was an arcade game much like Spacewar!, the only difference being that Computer Space used more processing power and new technology, and that it was the first arcade game as well, not available to personal computers or home televisions. The Magnavox Odyssey was the first home console that was available for the general public. It featured a controller much like the one that pong would eventually make, except that its two dials controlled vertical and horizontal, rather than just vertical. The Magnavox Odyssey as a console was eventually a huge failure, leaving tens of thousands unsold. Games continued to be produced for households, with the most noticeable violent game releasing on August 18, 1995. The game was called Mortal Kombat, the game depicted two
According to Vanderbilt edu, “students who had played a violent virtual reality game had a higher heart rate, reported more dizziness and nausea, and exhibited more aggressive thoughts in a post-test than those who had played a nonviolent game.” Also, Another negative aspect of video games is that many kids spend more time playing video games than being outside. According to Vanderbilt edu, "Another negative aspect of video games is the fact that kids are spending too much time playing the games rather than physically playing outside. The first arcade video game sold commercially was Computer Space by Nutting Associates, which was introduced in 1971. In 1972, Atari offered a new video game called Pong. An interesting thing to mention is that Atari was created by Nolan Bushnell, the man who created Computer Space. He left Nutting Associates to create Atari. Pong was the first truly successful commercial arcade video game. It was a great hit when it came out.

These are some of the things in first person shooter games. A first-person shooter game can be any game or simulator where you there, where you are in first person mode shooting and throwing bombs. If people do this for months or even years at a time it can cause damage mentally and even physically. First, off '"Screen violence, particularly when it is real but even if it is virtual, is quite traumatic for children regardless of age," said Dr. Dimitri Christakis' (Jacqueline Howard, CNN). This can change the mindset of children and adults; one day you can be playing Call of duty and then a year and a half later, after playing for a very extended period of time every day, you could want to go out and kill some people. The physical part of this is you can be more violent (ex. punching, fighting, arguing) and this can change your personality, what friends you have, and how people think of you as a person. Violence can also, in some cases, give you nightmares and increased general anxiety. '"It is not uncommon to see increases in nightmares, sleep disturbances and increased general anxiety in the wake of these events. While it is true that the horrific events of this past week can happen at any time, the real risk to individuals remains low,"' (Jacqueline Howard,
"The books that the world calls immoral are the books that show the world's its own shame." ~Oscar Wilde.Censorship, one word so many different definitions, to many different people. Super Mario is like a booster to the brain, and to better understand how video games can boost the brain, German researchers led a study where they asked twenty-three middle-aged adults to play “Super Mario 64 for thirty minutes daily for over two months. A separate part of the group did not play video games in the least. Monitoring the brains of the two groups utilizing an MRI machine, they discovered that the gaming group had an increase in gray matter in the right hippocampus, right prefrontal cortex, and the cerebellum. These are the areas of the brain in charge of complex thinking, memory development, spatial navigation, and excellent motor skills in the hands (Kühn et al., 2013). According to study leader Simone Kühn (2013), senior scientist

Although, seeing as video games are increasingly popular today, not everyone met as unfortunate of a fate. Today, many could credit this to the video game development corporation known as Atari, which arose in 1972 and continuously flourished until about 1982. In 1972, Atari came out with PONG, the first electronic arcade game, and it was an enormous accomplishment that exploded into what is now called the electronic gaming revolution. As time passed, Atari managed to triumph over its competition time and time again, but that is not to say that each of the failed corporations did not feature something that is used today. In fact, a couple of the failed organizations contributed something original to what is common today. For instance, Fairchild Camera and Instrument creating the first system that could play several different games, rather than just one. Another aforementioned group, RCA, was the first to produce and utilize keypad controllers instead of paddles or joysticks. Other consoles that came along, such as Intellivision and Vectrex, sported better graphics than the Atari’s consoles and games, but they still did not manage to gross the amount of money that Atari did because Atari was still on top of collecting all of the most entertaining and enjoyable games of their time. Keep in mind what attracted the masses to video games in the past: fun and addictive gameplay, not how good they looked. Now that the principal eras of gaming have been

DLC (downloadable content) is also another big issue, game developers have now realised that players will pay extra to play new missions, get new maps and even change the appearance of their character. This leaves parents with huge bills as often enough, once the bank details are in the console they can be reused over and over by the child without the parents consent.
