Imagine if you needed blood and couldn’t afford it, Where would you go? The American Red Cross is a non profit organization that helps millions of people around the world who can’t afford blood. The American Red Cross has been around for nearly 250 years. The American Red Cross helps others who are in need of blood and/or would like to get certified to become a EMT, Lifeguard, CPR. The American Red Cross should be supported by the people because of how many different opportunities they offer, The amount of donations they receive and how easy it is to donate blood, And how over the years the American Red cross has increased in support .

For over 13 year I have worked in healthcare and I have seen multiple patients die from organ failure as they waited on the transplant list. I’ve seen patients lose their quality of life as they sit in hospitals for weeks and months at a time as they waited for a kidney transplant. I also know people who have donated the organs of their loved ones and were blessed to know that their loss was the beginning of another person’s life.

The Red Cross provides blood for patients in approximately 2,600 hospitals across the U.S. The Red Cross makes blood available to any patient who needs it — patients are not required to find donors to replace the blood they use allowing the patient and their family to focus on recovery. Eighty percent of the blood donations given to the Red Cross are collected at mobile blood drives set up at community organizations, companies, high schools, and colleges, places of worship or military installations. The remaining 20 percent are collected at Red Cross donation centers. I am sure that everyone of you have heard about aliens and UFOs. Indeed, we all have heard about the famous case of aliens and UFOs in Roswell, New Mexico. Most people might be interested in the topic of aliens, but I know that the majority of you just think of it as rumours and the existence of them are impossible. The Department of Defense is sponsoring a study, through the University of Pittsburgh, to determine if plasma given to patients with severe bleeding on the way to the hospital will help their blood to clot. Each of the six sites involved has $20,000 available for community awareness education. If people do not want to participate, they can receive a free bracelet that lets emergency workers know they don’t want to take part in the research trial.

I am Ms. Simpson and my child Ta’Quarius is in your classroom and I am emailing you to inform you that he’s allergic to peanuts, he cannot have anything with or made with peanuts. I have spoken with the school nurse and the administrators about this. So, I am reaching out to you because as a teacher myself, I know and understand that children do share things, I am hoping that his classmates will understand how important it is for them not to share any foods with him unless they bring it to your attention first before doing so. Ta’Quarius is not to have any type of foods that contains peanuts.

The drives were held on April 29th and July 21st on the hospital campus. The blood donations collected during these events were especially important to boost the blood supply during the summer, a difficult time for community blood centers. The continued support of our staff and community allows Mississippi Blood Services to provide blood and blood products to the state during the summer shortage.

On January 4th, 2017, you issued an emergency call for blood and platelet donation because the severe winter weather was eating up your blood supply causing a shortage and once again you issued a statement on July 5th, 2017, saying that, “The decline in summer donations is causing a significant draw-down of our overall blood supply, and we urgently need people to give now to restock hospital shelves and help save lives,” (Mandal). So, if I am understanding this correctly, the nation is still experiencing a blood shortage? Ok, here’s the part that I find funny, there’s an entire population that is able to donate but yet are deferred by your system. Can you guess what that population is? No? Well, it’s gay and bisexual men.
