Electronic cigarettes have become a big influence on high schoolers. Vaping is what they call using Electronic cigarettes. Vaping is used to help to cut back on the use of real cigarettes. Since cigarettes has tar and many other bad chemicals in it makes vaping look really good when compared to each other.
A survey was taken in Mr Plants class was passed around to be anonymous. The results came out to be 15 people said that they have used a vape in there high school experience. The other 17 said no and haven't ever used a Electronic cigarette. This comes out to be that 55% of the class has used a vape and the other 45% has not used a Eletronic Cigarette. Another kid that was asked to be anonymous that also uses a vape said “ I used to smoke Cigarettes and when I switched to Vaping I have noticed that my body is way more healthier and can breath a lot better.” This was really cool to hear that Eletronic Cigarettes has helped someone that has had an addiction to real Cigarettes.
A study about vaping was done by the university of southern California in 2014 and 2016. The research came up to be that in 2014 “9% of high school students have used cigarettes or vaped.” In 2016 “13.7% of high school students have used cigarette or vaped.” The general increase shows that vaping is a more attractive gateway to nicotine than cigarettes. As crazy as it is to hear that this kind of smoking has grown that fast, it is good that if they are going to start a bad habit then it's better that they start the more healthier
There are few benefits from vaping versus smoking. Vaping has no bad smell, no bad breath odorless vapor, no cigarette burns or dirty ashtrays, less likely of getting cancer and other smoking-affiliated illnesses, and can help smoker quit smoking. E-cigs’ fluids have a variety of delicious flavors to choose from: cinnamon, cotton candy, vanilla, raspberry, or any flavor you can think of actually. Various studies have proved that vaping is far safer than smoking cigarettes. However, as vaping is new, the long term is unknown. I actually believe on some studies but when I read the article “Nicotine Poisoning in an Infant” changes my belief about vaping. Vaping is safe but with nicotine, is it safe or not? I bet it is not safe because from the article there is a circumstance that almost resulted to death. The label with appealing
In the University of Michigan's Monitoring the Future survey, 15,000 students in 8th, 10th and 12th grade were surveyed about e-cigarette use. The results showed that 59-62% of students reported vaping flavoring with no nicotine.
First, vaping is bad for the body and one's health. Vaping is the heating of a liquid, or “juice," until it becomes a vapor that is then inhaled. Since vaping has only been around in recent years, there are not many studies about them yet, but what researchers have seen so far does not look good for the future. Researchers say, “And then there's the nicotine. This is the component in cigarettes that smokers get hooked on. Research shows that nicotine may be as addictive as heroin or cocaine” (Lombardi). Many people “stop smoking" with the use of a vape. Little do they know, some of the same components found in cigarettes are also found in a vape. Nicotine, found in both vapes and cigarettes, is proven to be extremely addictive. Research shows that it could be as addictive as cocaine or heroin. For years, researchers have studied the horrendous outcome of nicotine effects on the body.
Teens who try e-cigarettes double their risk for smoking tobacco cigarettes. Studies found that in grades 7 to 12 , students that try an e-cigarette are 2.16 times more likely to be susceptible to smoking.
Advertisements and media present inhaling e-cigarettes as being glamorous and a way to socialize as well as stating that vaping is family friendly.
Some people believe that vaping may lead people into trying actual cigarettes in order to get a stronger effect. This is an especially worrisome possibility when it comes to children. The fact of the matter is that there is no strong evidence to support such a belief. If anything, the exact opposite is true. Most vapers chose to use e-cigarettes because they realized how harmful tobacco smoking was to them and they wanted to find a safe way to quit. In addition, many of these people spread the word of how harmful traditional cigarettes can be, which furthers support for anti-smoking campaigns.
Everyone always wants to be with the latest trend, and as many celebrities and magazine ads have pictures of vaping, electronic cigarettes have become a "trend”. People are largely unaware of the emergency risks of vaping. According to a study by Mitch Zeller he states, “I can say definitely, that nicotine is harmful to a developing teenage brain. And no teenager, no young person. should be using any tobacco or nicotine-containing products”. Unlike true cigarettes, electronic cigarettes do not have
Vaping is a healthier alternative to smoking, though by no means is it good for you. Though you can’t argue with the fact that vaping is better for your health than smoking traditional cigarettes. I will agree on the fact that the nicotine warnings should be placed on all bottles of vape juice and things alike that contain nicotine. This was approved by the FDA (Food and Drug Administration). Also, I agree that advertising of devices or products that deal with vapes and e-cigs should be prohibited. Vaping should be for the use of breaking traditional cigarette smoking habits and not displayed to our youth so openly.
Although they might be slightly more effective than nicotine patches and other aids in helping people quit smoking, electronic cigarettes still stand as a gateway to nicotine addiction. A recent study from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) suggests more children and teens from middle school to high school are trying these new devices. About 1.8 million children admitted puffing on an e-cigarette with 160,000 of them doing so with never having tried an ordinary cigarette before. These implications mean electronic cigarettes have been getting a lot of attention lately from the community. The CDC indicates this trend as a serious concern.
A 2014 national high school survey finds more monthly vapers than monthly smokers: 17% of US 12th-grade students report using e-cigarettes in the past 30 days compared to 14% for tobacco cigarettes. We also know that patterns of infrequent, non-daily use of various tobacco and nicotine products may be increasing among young people. But trying e-cigarettes does not automatically lead to daily use.
In the United States, the usage of cigarettes is slowly declining, making way for alternative forms of tobacco and nicotine sources to become popular. In the past decade, one of these cigarette alternatives has become very popular, even widely among teens, and it’s referred to as “vaping”. Vaping is the use of electronic cigarettes that replace burning paper and tobacco with flavored steam, which usually has nicotine in it (Kriegel). Since vaping hasn’t been around very long and hasn’t become popular until recently, not much is known about the effects or how harmful it could be long term. One source says, “There's also a widespread belief that e-cigarettes are safe, or at least safer than conventional tobacco products. But several studies have suggested this may not be the case,” (Fox). Although there is a very strong debate on whether e-cigarettes are a safe alternative for cigarettes, there are too many risk factors involved due to conflicting information and studies, for vaping to be deemed safe.
Teenage smoking can be a result of the influence of other teens, or maybe the amount of peer pressure. This can cause a teen to want to smoke or even think about smoking (Alcid, Arthur, page 1). Statistics show that 794 student and 22.4 percent of teens claimed to be tobacco users. (Alcid, Arthur, page 1). Teens tend to be more abrasive when smoking, and seem to act different while smoking and once they have gotten into the habit of smoking make it a constant thing. In 2003, 21.9 percent of high school students currently smoke cigarettes (Alcid, Arthur, page 1).

One thing that has commonly been agreed upon is that Americans are smoking less cigarettes now, due to vaporizer. About 23% of smokers have tired electronic nicotine device systems and 62% of participants from one study reported using them for no loner than six months (Tackett et al. 868, 870). According to Alayna Tackett et al. research, who are affiliated with the Department of Psychology and Oklahoma State University found, “Exhaled CO readings confirmed that 66% of the tested sample had quit smoking. Among those who continued to smoke, mean cigarettes per day decreased from 22.1 to 7.5” (868). This is pretty remarkable considering the fact the about half a million people die from cigarettes every year, in the United States alone. Participants reported that they viewed e-cigarettes to be, “significantly less harmful than all other tobacco products, all
There is a lot of debate whether vaping teens are becoming a major problem. The article “Warning: Vaping Teens Becoming a New Generation of Nicotine Addicts” by USAtoday.com address how vaping the becoming the new cigarettes for teens. E-cigarettes may seem like they aren’t harmful because they don’t have cancer producing tobacco. However, they still have nicotine and other harmful toxins according to the article. Vaping teens are becoming a big problem in our generation. Nowadays, teens vape to seem “cool” or simply because of peer pressure.
