The land that became Great Smoky Mountains National Park was owned by hundreds of small farmers and a handful of large timber and paper companies. 150,000 acres of land had to be purchased before The Department of the Interior assumed responsibility for administration and protection of the park in the Smokies. My favorite place to visit is Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. There are so many fun and exciting places to visit and beautiful sites to see. Pigeon Forge is famous for the Dollywood Amusement Park. Here a person can ride a fast dropping roller coaster that makes them feel like a soaring eagle or they can brave the rapids on a water raft. If death defying rides are too much to handle, then visit one of the many comedy shows the town has to offer. The comedy shows are full of side splitting jokes, hilarious skits, and small animals dancing around in funny costumes. At these shows musicians are strumming away on the banjo to some good old mountain music while the cloggers keep in time with the fast paced rhythm. After a day of
In the United States, there are millions of acres of land dedicated to our national parks. Over half of the states in our country have land dedicated to national parks, and according to Linda J. Bilmes and John Loomis, the National Parks Service protects 412 of these places. The amount of land dedicated to these parks is quite a considerable amount and it has drawn the attention of the federal government. The government believes there should be cut backs on the amount of land dedicated to places such as Yellowstone and Ellis Island. However, if these parks, monuments, etc. were to be reduced in size, the United States would lose protection of a magnitude of important things such as areas of land and water, animal habitats, historical sites, monuments, and areas sacred to

Fire has long been understood to have an impact on the ecosystem of our native woodlands, but it is only recently that we have come to understand its importance in maintaining the ecosystem. This report takes samples of the flora structure and growth in two different areas of Anstey Hill Recreation Park. The first was last burnt in 1995, and the second burnt in 2012. The results of these samples can be compared to data sampled in 2011, when the 2012 burnt area had not been burnt since Ash Wednesday in 1983.
Theodore Roosevelt once stated “Here is your country. Cherish these natural wonders, cherish the natural resources, cherish the history and romance as a sacred heritage, for your children and your children's children. Do not let selfish men or greedy interests skin your country of its beauty, its riches or its romance.” Theodore Roosevelt, the twenty-sixth President of the United States was one of the greats. Theodore Roosevelt was considered one of the first of the Presidents to push conservation and preservation of the United States and its natural beauty. Theodore Roosevelt created many laws and national parks to contribute to his passion of preserving the United States. He also created the national forestry service and the National Parks

In the book The Great Smokies From Natural Habitat to National Park, one can see the true passion and application that the author, Daniel S. Pierce, holds for one of the United States most prized possession, the Great Smoky Mountains. Like most, he is intrigued by the incomparable beauty and thrill of the wilderness, with his main goal being to show that the propose of this national park isn’t just to protect undeveloped land but more to reclaim the wildness and all it stands for. He looks in-depth to the different land use of the smokies over time and the people who have called it home for centuries with his lager focus on the movement to turn the Great Smokies in to the national park it is today.
All around the world we have National Parks that are protected areas by the government. John Muir was enraptured by it and Ansell Adame immortalized it, while Teddy Roosevelt created the National Park Service to protect these National Parks. These nationals parks are very important to keep for the environment, we all need to work together to keep these parks as nature as possible.
There are many national parks and monuments that can be explored on your next adventure. Picturesque views can be found close to home, on the coasts, or on the high plains and mountains of the west.
In 2016, the National Park Service (NPS) celebrated 100 years of preservation and conservation of our nation’s parks, monuments, and historical sites. Currently, the federal government has proposed significant proposed budget cuts to the National Park Service. If the government makes these cuts, then Americans could lose the national parks along with the beauty, culture, and history that comes with them. This would happen because the NPS would lose most of its funding that is needed in order to keep the national parks wellpreserved. Investing in the NPS should be a priority in our nation because it provides educational programs, unites all ages and races, and preserves and conserves the national parks.

The mountains of central Appalachia have always been known for, almost exclusively, the booming coal deposits that inhabit it, as well as the controversy that comes with the industry. The controversy that involves the wildlife, ecosystems, and residents of the area is one with fine lines, gray areas, and more than simply a good and evil side. The mountains of Kentucky, Virginia, West Virginia, and Tennessee are also home to some of the most extensive biodiversity in our country, as well as rich cultural heritage that extends to the earliest years of our nation. Everything that makes central Appalachia unique and identifiable is exactly what they might be in jeopardy of losing.
Between all of the oil companies and the railroads that supported them, there was quite a bit of forest that had to be knocked down to accommodate the big companies. The first national park that protected these great lands was founded in 1872 by Ulysses S. Grant and it was named Yellowstone national park. This prevented anybody from destroying the wildlife to make room for big business empires such as Rockefeller and Vanderbilt’s companies. After this national park was founded, many more were put into place to protect the wildlife for future generations to
President Theodore Roosevelt formed national parks to preserve natural resources during his presidency as it is important for our natural resource heritage. For example, President Roosevelt separated more than 100 million acres of land for nationally conserved forest for his conservation strategy. As a president, Roosevelt used his authority to protect the lands and its inhabitants. By naming lands as nationally conserved forests made the place more safe and secure from destruction. This was the only way to protect the animals and wildlife in the forest, and Roosevelt achieved two things by separating 100 million acres of land. Also, President Theodore Roosevelt established five new national parks during his presidency and added more land to one national park. Nothing is valued by the new generation that is growing up other than their phones and gadgets. President Theodore Roosevelt recognized five
