Two neighborhoods in Chicago Such as Hyde Park and the West side of Chicago are very different but have a variety of similarities as well. The differences and similarities lies in the areas, the houses, the schools, political views, the food and basically the towns their self. Neither of the two neighborhoods is the best to live in but sure is not the worse. In the west side of Chicago, you see plenty of people standing around on the corners, theirs a lot of liquor stores and fast food restaurants. The crime rate in the West side is higher than Hyde parks that including the car thefts and burglaries. Don´t get me wrong both neighborhoods crime rate is high but i think the better of the two would be Hyde Park. Hyde Park is located on the shore of Lake Michigan seven miles of the south loop in the south side of Chicago. Hyde Park is also where the University of Chicago, The Museum of Science and Industry is.They also have a nice Art Center. Its a very diverse community while the West side is predominantly African American (Black). Both Neighborhoods are democratic areas. The houses in the West side are more closer together and they barely have any driveways mostly just allies and gang ways. The houses nice sizes with affordable rent. You can find plenty of cheap homes and rental properties there with ok living areas. They also have restaurants and convenient stores in the areas so if you don´t have a car or transportation its okay because im pretty sure you find something
The gentrification process can be seen through the demographic and physical changes of the South Parkdale neighborhood. Gentrification is “the invasion of working-class areas by the upper- and middle-classes, who upgrade shabby, modest housing into elegant residences, resulting in the displacement of all, or most of the original working-class occupiers”. (Lyons, 1996) South Parkdale is a neighborhood in downtown Toronto that faces problems of gentrification. This problem has been ongoing since the nineteen fifty’s’.
People that don't make the most such as middle class citizens are constantly pushed and involuntary forced out of their city because of gentrification. Gentrification is the process of renovating and the economic redevelopment from one culture to another using a house or district so that it conforms to middle-class taste. In Downtown Eastside gentrification has been occurring for the past years. In Vancouver DTES gentrification would be doing more harm than good. The effects gentrification would leave in Vancouver DTES are unimaginable. Leaving many homeless, in poverty, culture clashing and with struggles for the low income the middle class people earn. Vancouver is already known as “poorest postal code in Canada. How will the people survive this new modification being done to their beloved DTES?

Just east of Butte, Montana is a huge lake filled with toxic chemicals. Samples taken in 2011 had a pH measuring around 2.5, meaning the water was comparable to gastric acid (PitWatch, 2013). This lake, known as the Berkeley Pit Lake, was formed by open pit mining in the 1950s. Originally, the mine was built by the Atlantic-Richfield Corporation to meet the global demands for copper post World War II. Copper prices tanked in 1982, so the mine was shut down and pumps removing water were deactivated. The company left behind a pit encompassing an area of approximately one square mile and reaching a depth of 1780 feet. Berkeley Pit soon flooded and began to collect hazardous levels of heavy metals.

Founded around the same time as Shippensburg itself, Orange Street has a local, but distinctive history. A diverse group of people, including African Americans, sites, and stories fills the street’s history. Along Orange Street, one of the three black neighborhoods is located between Fayette Street and Morris Street, known as Branch Creek. African Americans moved in the Locust Street Neighborhood at the same time when Shippensburg’s black population increased after the Civil War. Among the African Americans who moved into Shippensburg during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries was Reverend Joseph Robinson, who later became a prominent member within the black community. Thirty years after Robinson moved into Shippensburg,
People always wonder why the City of Angels is different from other cities. This paper will answer this question and explain the uniqueness that makes L.A., “L.A.” Los Angeles, since its birth as an embryonic city, has become one of the most diverse metropolises, offering to the public what no other city can. This paper will emphasize the relationship between the federal government and the western United States. It will also illustrate how capitalism has flourished because of the prevalent 19th century Laissez Faire ideology. It will describe how the free market prevailed and expanded Los Angeles outward, while cultivating new public institutions and private enterprises.
Chicago in the 1920s was a turning point for the development of ethnic neighborhoods. After the opening of the first rail connection from New York to Chicago in the 1840s, immigration sky rocketed from that point on. Majority of the immigrants to Chicago were Europeans. The Irish, Italians, eastern European Jews, Germans, and Mexicans were among the most common ethnicities to reside in Chicago. These groups made up the greater part of Chicago. The sudden increase in immigration to Chicago in the 1920s soon led to an even further distinguished separation of ethnicities in neighborhoods. The overall development of these neighborhoods deeply impacted how Chicago is sectioned off nowadays. Without these ethnicities immigrating to Chicago

The play Prince of Egypt directed by Scott Schwartz an American child actor who participated in Toy Story and now a director has shown his vision of the marvelous play in the Silicon Valley TheatreWorks. Additionally, the play itself is dramatic and musical. To sum the play, an orphan Hebrew was found near the river and was brought into one of the most prestigious family in Egypt. A huge amount of time has passed seeing Moses (Hebrew child) and Ramses (Son of the Pharaoh) growing up together into adults. However, a war caused the sickness or death of the Pharaoh, which leads Ramses to be the new leader. Moses and Ramses has a strong bond between each other, until Moses finds out his true identity; which is being born as a Hebrew. Eventually finding out his true self, his goals were to free the Hebrews being captive by the Pharaoh, which in this case it is now Ramses. With hard work and determination, Moses has fulfilled his duty to free his people. In the ending of the play, I was amazed and enjoyed the play. Therefore, I wished for another seeing of this beautiful work just by how the themes, plot, creative staging, and the passion of the director is put out there to everyone else.
Masculinity can range drastically in the level, shape, and or form it takes in each individual’s mind, but this phenomenon is formed as a complex experience through social construction. Masculinity has never been an ideal or a code I found myself reflecting on growing up, but my subconscious was constantly battling the juxtaposition of my experience at home, school, and on basketball teams. These factors would eventually shape my idea of masculinity surrounding home, particularly through the communicative aspects of athletics and academics.
