1. The main character of the novel "Untwined" is Giselle, she was the narrator of the story. She had a twin and they were both tall, her best friend was called Tina (Danticat 10). They made an accident she survived but her twin sister, Isabelle, died. They were christians but not religious, " on the margins, between belief and disbelief" (Danticat 10). she was thinking to either give up like her sister or to survive. Giselle was a survivor. 2. One theme from "Untwined" is death and grief. This theme emerged when "the car slammed into us" (Danticat 1) Giselle's family made a car accident and all of them got injured and Isabella died. This event made the whole family sticking to each other more as the two parents decided to separate before …show more content…
One complex character is Tina. She is Giselle's best friend. when Giselle lost her sister, she helped her out with their other friend, Jean Michel, they both helped her to know information about who smashed their car during the accident. Tina told her that Jean Michel loved her, "he liked you. He still likes you" (Danticat 297). Tina also became her "untwined sister" not just a friend. The theme of the story changed from sadness and grief to satisfaction snd happiness. (Danticat 303). 4. "We are late, we are late, no time to say goodbye, we are late" (Danticat . this repetition shows that Giselle made the whole family 15 minutes late which caused them to have an accident that resulted in Isabella's death. The tone of the story changed it to death and grief of the whole family due to Isabella's death. 5. The most important scene in the story was the car accident. As a result of the car accident, both parents got injured, Giselle was unable to move or speak, and Isabella lost her life. The order of the events were harsh to bear the grief when the family knew they lost their daughter. On the other hand, they started supporting each other and sticking to each other more. There was also misunderstanding and confusion, everyone thought that Isabelle survived and Giselle died, "I AM NOT ISABELLE. I AM GISELLE" (Danticat
To begin with, a motif I have noticed in the book is the townspeople. This is a possible motif because in chapters 5-7, the townspeople of the town Eatonville are constantly
I would choose this theme over any other countless themes since Dallas and Florida, “The Trouble Twins” of the Boxton Creek Home have been searching for a family for 13 years, only to end up depending on each other, and not letting anyone in, both emotionally and socially. Well, that was until Sairy and Tiller took them under their wing, as their own-birth children. Tiller and Sairy have made a parental bond with “The Trouble Twins” and Dallas and Florida created a daughter and son bond with “the old couple.” Along with the importance of family, Trust was also another major theme in the book. Florida and Dallas have been through so much since they passed along to different foster parents, from being locked in basements to hours of hard labor. They were never able to witness what it would be like to acquire loving parents, so they could never trust anyone, even if they really wanted
The first theme is fever cooperation. An example of this is when mother was sick with fever and wants Mattie and grandfather to go to the Ludington's farm to avoid getting sick. This shows cooperation because
One task she would constantly do is she would clean her family's houses. Giovanna was caring and loving to everyone and soon became a midwife. Giovanna's brother, Lorenzo, went to America because he wanted to help his family financially but knew he couldn't help them in Italy so he decided to leave and send money to them from America. Then Nunzio soon decided that it was best for him and Giovanna to immigrate to America. Giovanna was very upset with this news because she was scared for him, she really wanted him to stay with her and for them to create a family. Once in New York, Nunzio sees all the beautiful buildings and only has one person he wished was there to see them with him; Giovanna. With the help from his brother-in-law, Nunzio finds work. Nunzio learned new skills and met many interesting people at work. Everything was going great for Nunzio in America until tragedy struck. While working at Brooklyn Union Gas Company, Nunzio knew there was a way in which the steel heave had to be lowered but his boss didn't listen to him. Once Nunzio went under the steel heave he knew that it

The three events that show the argument is when Lizabeth hesitates before throwing the rocks at the marigolds, hearing the sounds of her father's sorrowful cries about his financial stability, and the destruction of Miss Lottie’s marigolds.
To begin with, one major theme that continuously played a part throughout the entire book is desire. To many of the characters, it was the one urge that they could never overcome. One
They raced each other at the end because Agnes wanted to be a saint, and she thought racing was a sin, but she finally loosened up from what Honey had helped her with. I thought this book was the adventurous kind in the beginning, but then did I find out it was about friendship and love. This book was very touching from what Honey had described in one of the chapters about how Agnes had changed from the friend that she use to know to what she is now, a saint to be. I thought that it was outrageous when I read to the part about that they were hit by Emmanuel. To what I think, people should not be punished by what they have done just according to the rules that some guy had
At the beginning of the book, there is a part that starts the story and how it affects them later in their lives. When Raina races against her friends to go home, she trips and knocks out her two front teeth. This shows me the theme of how all things, and even things that are meant to be fun or enjoyable may have some weird/terrible consequences. It also shows us how the relationship between her and her friends in another scene in the beginning of the story is that I saw for the theme friendship was when Raina came back to school the day after her teeth were knocked out and people were wondering how was her and if she was okay. Then more people come over and then they ask her if she saw the blood and how much blood there was and if Raina cried. This shows that her friends do not care for her as much and would rather hear Raina’s story from a different side than her own. A theme that seems great for the both scenes that work together is most people
Manfred throws around death threats and searching for the girl mercilessly pushing everyone out of the way. Manfred, on several accounts, attempts to kill Theodore for reasons related to Isabella. Working against Manfred’s cause, Theodore facilitates Isabella’s escape from the castle and Manfred wants to kill him for it. As if Manfred searching for her wasn’t enough she also has her father racing against Manfred to find her thus causing more tension as they compete. Since Isabella ran away and now has all these people out for her, Theodore is protecting her and ends up fighting off a knight and wounding him. That knight, however, was Isabella’s father, so indirectly; Isabella’s actions caused her father to be wounded. Isabella’s simple decision to take the path of self-happiness over the typical submissive woman caused all of these events in the story. Her aversion from her social expectations is what made this story one of excitement and not a story of the typical workings of society. Isabella, following what she believed would make her happy, drove the story into one of more suspense and conflict.
All three of these themes really helps you go in depth into the story. You realize how many times each of these pop up, which events they popped up in, and how important those events even were. We see you never know the worth of water until the well is dry with Sal as well as Phoebe, maybe even Mrs.Cadaver. When Sal’s mom leaves because she feels rotten in comparison to Sal’s father, we find this is a major event because we now have an insight as to why she left, she didn’t feel perfect, even though she was only human. Sal accepting her mother death was a terrible thing in her life, yet she had to and was also a key event in the story. These themes can all easily be integrated into our modern day society. Such as when you lose a relative, you have to accept their death even if you desperately don’t want to or when said family member dies you don’t realize how much they mean to you. Or with all the stereotypes and expectations we sometimes forget that we’re all only human. Tell people close to you you love them, you’ll never know when you’ll lose them. Make sure they know you appreciate them, but most of all, always know that nobody’s
The ending of Shakespeare’s famous play Romeo & Juliet, is devastating yet expected, as the “pair of star-cross’d lovers” (Prologue.9) dramatically kill themselves, leaving their friends and family in pure shock and sadness. In the play, the situations leading up to this dreadful incident should be blamed on the lovers themselves, as well as their secrecy with the absurd relationship that was caused by the couple’s family feud which definitely takes the blame for the double suicide. A long string of events that happened which lead to these deaths, were triggered by these three situations.
Elisa quickly retreats inside to clean up for dinner, taking longer that usual to clean up. Henry shortly returns to the house to clean up as well, but notices the extra time Elisa must have taken, remarking, “why– why, Elisa. You look so nice!” After dressing, Henry leaves to start the car, and the two leave for town, and Elisa leaves her moment of passionate freedom behind. On the way, however, Elisa spots the cluttered

She is the protagonist in the story. “Her short linken walkind dress was, as far as he could judge, in the height of fashion and revealing an extent of silk- clad leg as disturbing as ever.” c, Barbara. Bright Hair About the Bone. New York: Bantam Delta, 2008. This quote show that she was someone who liked to show off a bit and everyone at her college thought she was kind of a trouble maker. Her godfather was Daniel who was murdered and a year later she receives a note the day he died. Instead of wondering who killed him she wanted to find out who did it and she did. Her actions showed how much she cared about Daniel and it showed how close they were together. Her relationship with other characters is that she is very stubborn and doesn’t listen to anyone if it’s not what she wants to do. She likes to succeed in everything she does even if it might be dangerous or impossible. An internal conflict is when she thinks about why there was a body in the trench out in the open where she is digging which meant they wanted her to find it as a message to her. An external conflict is when the gun is pointed towards her and she tries to make the shooter focus on her to figure4 out there scheme and figure out why they killed Daniel. In the end she is changes like becoming more in touch with her emotions. Many other characters seem to think that she is stubborn, some characters are attracted to her, others
