The district council are responsible for housing, libraries, leisure and recreation, environment, waste collection, Planning and Local tax. An example of a district council would be winick. Unitary authorities are responsible for all local governments. The responsibilities they have are Education, Highways, Social Care, transport, housing, libraries, leisure and recreation, environment, waste, planning and local tax. An example of a unitary is Manchester. London boroughs is a unitary authority they have the same responsibilities as unitary except from passenger transport. I. The United Kingdom of Great Britain is an island nation north of Europe that hosts a few smaller countries. These countries include England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland. These four countries together form Britain. Despite their differences, they all have a similar culture. With a widely diverse population, Britain is a nation rich with various cultures that add to their historical prevalence in art and literature.

The name Glasgow derives from a Gaelic phrase meaning ‘green valley’, suggesting that it is a wholesome and flourishing heartland. In 1990 it was hailed the European City of Culture. At 62ft it has the tallest cinema in the world. Glasgow boasts beautiful museums and gorgeous parks, highly regarded universities and a sparkling retail environment. It is the home of two internationally renowned football teams. Many would regard Glasgow’s greatest and memorable asset as being a city of warm and welcoming people, generous to a fault. However, despite Glasgow’s many accolades, there is a disturbing picture emerging behind the facade of its international status as a major city. The reality of a frightening gang culture, horrific violence and the disgusting sight of filth clearly indicate the massive steps still to be climbed before we can be proud of our heritage.

Westminster is a school that both offers a high level of academics and athletics. What is most exciting is a student’s ability to participate in many clubs and activities. I have always had a big passion for soccer since I started playing it in preschool. I would love to try new sports and Westminster gives me that opportunity. I have thought about playing basketball but my current school doesn't offer a basketball team. I have talked to a friend of mine that is in Westminster and he told me he’d definitely recommend it, especially because of the great friendships he’d made. That’s the kind of experience and camaraderie I’m looking for.
