Immigration Assignment
1. The dormitories, the place where the immigrants slept when they arrived was small and cramped. If it were you and your family, what would your thoughts have been when you arrived and were directed to your sleeping quarters. Take a photo of yourself in front of the dormitories.
a. If it were me and my family arriving at the small and cramped dormitories, I would be scared and uncomfortable. I would be scared because being that it is very cramped we will be very close to people we don’t know. These people could be sick and get me and my family sick. I would also be nervous with people I don’t know because I would have no idea if they would do anything to endanger myself or my family. I would be uncomfortable being so close to people I don’t know.
2. As you travel from section to section within the museum, observe and outline stories that were being told through the visual representation posted and document those stories. Take pictures of yourself in front of several of the exhibits.
a. Walking through the museum there were many exhibits that told the people’s stories going through Ellis Island and coming to America. These stories talked about leaving their families, homes and past behind in order to achieve the

Immigration from neutral or ally countries should be allowed, but carefully monitored. Countries in which the United States is at war with or have tension with should be stopped in order to prevent threats. Even though these people entering may not be harmful or dangerous, we should not take any risks. I also think if a person is ill with a disease we do not have in the United States, the person should be medically cleared before being allowed to enter. Of course, the United States should end over proper forms of care, such as medicines, but it is important to protect current citizens from these
Today I will be explaining the Boreal Forest Taiga. So let’s have fun and get into this information and learning. If you don’t know what a Boreal Forest Taiga is you are going to learn today. The Boreal Forest Taiga is a forest that has extremely cold winters and warm summers. Also all trees in this area are evergreen trees and has shallow roots. The Forest contains animals that have thick skins and can stand extreme whether. This forest has the same characteristics as some other forest. This place mainly contains real evergreen trees we use as Christmas trees. Trees here can grow up to 40-80 feet tall. Winters here are very cold and the temperature can get up -50 degrees fahrenheit.
There are two legal terms “search” and “seizure”. The legal term search means to examine another's premises to look for evidence of criminal activity. Under the 4th and 14th Amendments it is unconstitutional for law enforcement officers to conduct a search without a "search warrant" issued by a judge or without facts which give the officer "probable cause" to believe evidence of a specific crime is on the premises if there is not enough time to obtain a search warrant. The legal term seizure means the taking by law enforcement officers of potential evidence in a criminal case. The constitutional limitations on seizure are the same as for search. Thus, evidence
To begin with, we need to stop immigrants from entering the country. We have been having this problem for so long and unless we act now we will not stop this increasing trend of illegal immigrants. According to CNN, there are currently 11 million illegal immigrants in the U.S and they are continuing to increase every year. Why should we allow illegal immigrants to enter our country when they are basically committing a crime by entering illegally. If
For this assignment, I interviewed a parent of a child who does not have an IEP or receive special education services. Through this interview I was able to learn how parents of children with no special needs are aware of the inclusion classrooms.
I read new information on events that occurred in our city and that helped me know my city better. It was very interesting to read and see many events that my professor had covered in class. I enjoyed seeing how Americans lived in the past. Regarding education, children started going to school and some of their desks were displayed in the museum. There were also samples of clothing that people used to wear during the 1950’s and 1970’s. Therefore, I learned the way that people used to live many years ago. I learned that George Eastman created the photographic film and also improved it by creating the “Brownie”. This was a box camera that introduced the snapshot. Film and cameras became commercial due to the Brownie. Radios, telephones, and televisions improved American lives. In my visit to the museum I got the opportunity to experience very closely how people used to live in the Rio Grande Valley. I learned that the advances in technology, battles, revolutions, and railroads created what is now
• Interpret, apply, and enforce Immigration and Nationality laws under the Immigration and Nationality Act including Federal Code of Regulations, agency policies and memos, department policies and memos.
In order to ensure our country 's safety, I believe that the borders of America should be closed and secured. If America 's leaders vote to keep our borders open and free to all, the Immigration Crisis will evolve into an even bigger problem. It is my understanding that America is already trillions of dollars in debt, not including all the funds it would take to care for thousands of immigrants. While the numbers are clearly not as bad as most other countries, we too have our own citizens living in poverty everyday. I firmly believe that until we are capable of providing restoration and a better quality of life to our own people, we have no business or resources to do so for other countries.
The United States should encourage immigration because immigrants bring needed diversity. The immigrants have enhanced the United States since there is now different ethnic and racial groups. The population of the United States is becoming increasingly diverse. Having such a large
The U.S should further restrict immigration. First of all, the United States should further restrict immigration because population itself will rise to extreme problems. Research has been done and it has been showed that the population of the United States is around 318.9 million people (2014 census). Imagine additional people coming to the United States. Study also shows that United States is currently having a severe drought in the west coast, and it would not be solved if more people come to the United States. Combine those two researches and we have an immense problem(s). No one blames them for coming, because everyone is seeking for better opportunities or because they want escaped war in their home country, but at the same time
Anybody should be aloud to immigrate to the U.S.A. The more people immigrate to U.S.A. the more people there are to fill jobs and pay taxes. The U.S.A. is also a place where people can feel safe and be free and should be deprived of that. People can live happily with their families and kids. Immigrants can have easy access to clothing, homes, jobs, and food. In the U.S.A immigrants can live under a good sturdy government.
Upon walking into the first level of the museum there are five glass cases, each contain artifacts that’s relate to the main reasons why people migrate, these reasons being: Freedom, A better life, War and Conflict, Family and Disaster each glass, I saw artifacts that belonged to the people who came to this country, objects that were the reason people migrated and models of the life people either had or wanted when they made the ultimate decision to migrate. When walking further into the darkly lit room your eyes are drawn to a wall that has video projected onto it, each video segment covers the five topics as mentioned previously, this is the first example of how narratives are framed throughout the exhibit. Throughout the museum there are interactive exhibits that portray stories of migrants and
The exhibits showed many pictures, graphs and artifacts which made the information it was providing easily accessible for many age groups and learning abilities. In addition, there were many quotes from people who were important figures in the historical events that occurred. However, the downside of having many pictures is that sometimes the displays would rely solely on the pictures and artifacts to tell the story which would leave some details out and make the exhibits too brief. Another thing that was a recurring issue was the overall lack of organization in the museum. The exhibits only went in chronological order some of the time and could become very confusing. Overall, the museum does a good job showing that Native American culture and history is still here despite many attempts to wipe it
Immigration to the United States of America is a very tricky subject. In order to please everyone, including other countries, we would need to have open borders and simultaneously restrict immigration to virtually zero, while also including everything in between. Sadly, appeasing everyone is not possible, so we must come up with the most equitable policy. A policy in which the majority of Americans feel secure in their own country, and where our country can still accept those in need of our help.
After visiting the Museum of Social Justice, I became extremely excited about the exhibit we will be putting together over the next few weeks. Although the space is smaller than a lot of museums I have been to in the past, I would still like to use the space to tell a story, much like many other museums do. I would like our exhibit to tell the story of undocumented students from their arrival to the United States and be a sort of journey for spectators as they follow their encounters in court, with ICE, police officers and finally, the exhibit would end with the current politics and propaganda on immigration that guides the current presidential hopefuls. This would provide visitors with both a social and political context to guide them as they
For this assignment, I visited the Holocaust Museum with 3 of my peers. The museum consisted of a very well organized circular room that had different posters with information on them, and they also had pictures of items that were used and how things looked. The pictures that were portrayed helped me better understand the concept of the paragraphs that I was reading next to them. There was also a separate room with letters from people that survived the holocaust and they explained what were the things that they went through.
