In this assignment I will be explaining how employee performance within my chosen business, Tesco, is measured and how the results can help with the development of the staff, as well as assessing how the importance of measuring and managing employee performance.

Furthermore, as a team leader watching their team develop and learn new skills is a positive experience and helps Tesco achieve one of their objectives, which is developing the talents of their employees through sound and management practice. As the staff learn more and more enhanced skills from various different training methods, they are learning skills for life and are developing themselves as a better person.
How do they monitor the performance of team members?
Tesco monitor the performance of their team members in a number of ways. For team members, they would be evaluated on their sales figures. For example, with the employees that work on the fresh produce section, you can monitor how much they have sold in a day so customer service skills would be vital in this. As a sales assistant, their customer service would need to be at an exceptionally high standard because they are the face of the business and would be representing them, as well as aiming to promote their product or service to as many customers as possible. Customers value high quality and politeness so therefore, this would definitely boost any sales figure in any department.
As an employee of Tesco myself, I know that they have regular 1:1 meeting held within each of the different departments with the team leader. This is essentially gives them the opportunity to report back and provide the employee with the necessary feedback that they need to progress on to the next stage of their personal
Introduction: Morrison’s PLC is one of the largest food retailers in UK. It has changed a lot over the last 8-10 years. Thanks to HR guidance it has improved all his sections and departments. To maintain this growth Morrison’s has to offer new services and products by using new selling strategies. To improve Morrison’s performance the HR changed the internal and external factors.

Tesco will use rewards to their workers for good work. They may offer promotion, bonuses, team building events and well fitted, comfortable staff rooms and interior maintenance.
I would like to start-up a business where I can learn from others about their culture and to see how different cultures will be with each other. Amsterdam is a big city with a shortage of hotels. That brings me to an idea: starting a hotel business.
This affects Tesco because the amount of human’s capital increases as they train staff who doesn’t have much experience, so way once they have trained they will perform well for the company which leads to positive reputation. This is a type of investment in human capital which will benefit the employees as well the performance to the company.
