These data indicate in District 115, a large percentage of residents need to commute to work, about 63.6% (42.3%+21.3%) need to travel 15-44 minutes. This situation introduces public issues about traffic, road construction and maintenance, energy/gasoline consummation, and even environmental pollution generated from automobile emission gas.
From the District Election Report (HOUSE DISTRICT 115-PLANH358 2016 General Election), data showed except the position of “President”, which 51.5% voted for Democratic candidate Hilary Clinton, won over Republican candidate Donald Trump, with all other positions including U.S. Rep, Sup Ct, CCA, and State Rep 115, Republican candidates won over Democratic candidates in this district.
Based on the demographic data showed above, I have several issues stand to develop in my platform for the Texas House of Representative.
I. Bilingual Education- Encourage students to learn foreign language, but not mandatory.
II. Facility Utilization- In public school, students should use facilities such as restrooms and locker rooms based on biological birth gender.
III. Mass Transportation- Encourage usage of mass transportation to improve air quality and traffic congestion.
IV. Energy and Environment- Encourage renewable energy and protect environment
The details showed below.
I. Bilingual Education --
Senator Royce West is the name of my chosen state-level legislative representative. He is a Texas state senator of district 23 from the capitol, his district location is in Dallas Texas. Mr. West is an African American male and also a Christian and a member of Good Street Baptist Church. Senator Royce West represents the Democratic Party and I share the same party preference as a Democratic. Senator Royce West has been in the senate office for twenty- four years, he has be serving since 1992 and as of 2016 still strongly represents Texas.
Looking at the election results derived from Texas in the past, it can be said that the Republicans have had the upper hand over the Democratic Party in this state for quite some time, but the cities tend to be very liberal. There are currently only 12 Democratic representatives and 24 Republican representatives to U.S. House of Representatives. (Govtrack.us). Since 1846, in the state of Texas, there have been 39 Democratic
Texas Senate District 25 is currently occupied by incumbent Donna Campbell. This district is considered one of most heavily gerrymandered districts in Texas, stretching from north San Antonio to South Austin. Campbell has held office since 2012 after defeating the incumbent in a runoff primary race. Though Campbell won the general election in 2012 by 31.2% points and 2014 by 33.4%, there is an expected GOP backlash that could bring her large wins to something reachable by Edward Kling. Since this is a nonpresidential election Steven Kling would need around 120,000 votes, depending on turnout, to reach 51% and take the district.
To win any election, it is paramount to have selected some vital themes that addresses the needs of one’s demographic party. It has to be fully outlined in such a way that it’ll present and outline Jane Miller’s purpose for running for the election. There are several political topics in Texas as of today but some important and strong ones include: More government regulation of immigration laws, Taxes and abortion. Jane needs to prioritize this issues and present them in a clear and concise way to make a clear conservative Republican stand point. Accurately planning a strategic foresight to enhance the voting outcomes of regions and populations will demonstrate positive outcomes for this candidate.
Rubesh Phaiju Professor Sherry Sharifian GOVT 2306-71003 28 November 2017 Committees Texas House of Representative consists of many committees which are working for the development of society and the people. Some of the committees which I would consider, if elected are Opioids & Substance Abuse Select Committee, Business & Industry Committee and Economic & Small Business Development Committee.
The Texas legislature, as stated by Champagne, Harpham, & Casellas, is a bicameral legislature compromised of two chambers. That is, the Senate and the Texas House of Representatives (2017, p. 211). It includes 31 senators and 150 House members. The legislature serves as the most critical establishment that aids in representing the state (Champagne et al., 2017, p.211). Members of the Texas state legislature must meet the essential requirements, perform their duties to the best of their ability, represent citizens, and attend sessions.
I was selected to write about the 29th District of Texas, which is located in the eastern portion of the greater Houston area. This entire district is located in Harris County. Pasadena, Humble, and Jacinto City are some of the largest cities in the district. The current population is 718,000 people which is a very large leap from the census before that, 653,000. This district is very diverse and is considered a major-minority district which means that the majority of the population is other races other than white.
Some documents for filing are Form 6: 48- hours contribution and loan received, Form 8: Debt Settlement Plan, Form 13: Report of Donations Accepted for Inaugural Committee and so on (How to run for office). In order to raise money, I will be encouraging the interest group, business group and the wealthy people to sponsor me those who are favor in my stands and come together to work for me. The two interests group that will be in favor of me are Texas Parent PAC, Texas NAACP. 2 As per the Texas Parent PAC, which is a bipartisan political action committee for parents, grandparents, parents-to-be, and anyone who supports high quality public education (“Texas Parent PAC”). 3 Similarly, The NAACP insures the political, educational, social and economic equality of minority groups and citizens; achieves equality of rights and eliminates race prejudice among the citizens of the United States; removes all barriers of racial discrimination through the democratic processes (NAACP). These organization are in favor of my objective such that they can lobby to stand during Texas State Senate but there are interest groups that oppose my objective. They are National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund and Texas Gun owners of America which oppose my gun ban objective. (The Voter's Self Defense System) The given below is the campaign sign while running for the Texas State Senate with a slogan of “Together We Can”.
1 My Texas State Senate District is 16 and Don Huffines is the republican senator for Texas senate district 16. 2 My Texas State House District is 115 and Matt Rinaldi is the Texas house representatives for district 115.
Evidently, The Texas House of Representatives is located in the lower house of the bicameral Texas Legislature. The Texas House of representatives contains a total of 150 members who are categorically elected from a single-member district in order to serve
Another Demographic that is a key in why Texas might turn blue is the increase of millennials. The amount of
Globally, numerous urban cities such as New York City and London have the issue of traffic congestion, and in the United States, Los Angeles and New York City take the top title of the worst traffic jams (Bekiempis). Even though traffic congestion ratings may not indicate how much air pollution in an area, most times, traffic congestion does communicate the approximate degree air pollution lies at. Atlanta does have an honorable—or rather, notorious—mention of daily traffic congestion, even though Atlanta’s traffic may not live up to the scale of that of New York City. The quality of air in the Atlanta metropolitan area can also play a testament to how far traffic congestion has gone in the
Senate District 9 is composed of some portions of Tarrant and Dallas Counties. District 9 has a total population of 847,465 and the age composition looks as follows: The people under the age of 18 is 241,747 while people between the ages of 18-64 is 535,302. Similarly, people above 65 years old are 70,416. Looking at these data we can say that District 9 is diverse in terms of age. The working population is higher compared to others.
Traffic congestion in the United States is becoming increasingly salient to citizens, private companies, and government actors. Traffic congestion, particularly on major highways and interstates, increases with economic development and production. First, as the economy develops, workers’ income rises. Public transportation is an inferior good in that a person’s demand for it decreases as their income rises. Thus, as workers in a growing economy gain income, they begin to purchase vehicles, which leads to more drivers on the roads (Road Congestion). A second way in which economic growth affects traffic congestion is through business and other urban development. As a city’s borders expand with new businesses and residential areas, the amount of people increases quickly, while new infrastructure to sustain them follows slowly behind in a dragging effect. To worsen the problem, these new businesses have new employees who travel on the same roads at the same time of day, which further leads to congestion during peak hours (Winaisathaporn).
People with power in the government who rule over us are very important people in our life; with the power they are given; they are given responsibility to lead us and fight for our welfare. Choosing people who represent us in governmental level plays vital role in our life because our future lies in their hands. They are the one who will be responsible of our benefits and sometimes detriment. I have been living here in Texas for past 4 years. Currently, Senator Don Huffines represents me in the Texas senate district 16 and Representative Rodney Anderson represent me in the Texas State House District 105. According to the estimated ACS 2010-2014 reports, there are 846,307 people residing in the senate district 16 in which 332,224 estimated number of household. Estimated 48.3% White, 11.8 % African American, 30.0 % Hispanic, 10% other resides in Texas Senate district 16. Looking at the district map; it looked like it was gerrymandered because it did not have any solid figure or line; it was all crooked line. Majority of the population is between the age of 18-64 years old which is over 60% of the population. 216,508 number of population of age 3 and over are enrolled in school and there is 8 independent school district in which average highest to lowest percentage of people enrolled in are Hispanic (42.9%), White (33.7%), African American (13.8%) and other (10.5%). 447,320 number of people with the age 16 and over are civilian who are employed. 22,332 numbers of families are
