Unit 06: For the discussion board, I watched the video “Surviving the Teenage Brain” and read chapter 03. I chose to discuss the topic on divided attention and multitasking. I also talked about some strategies for parents to help their children do homework without multitasking, and without media distractions. Unit 07: I participated in a discussion with my major project group member in the private discussion area. In my posting, I talked about educating youth and equipping them with the skills and tools to make healthy choices regarding sex and relationships. This is a more effective strategy than avoiding the topic altogether and telling them not to have sex. I really enjoyed interacting in weekly discussion and reading the textbook for this course. It was a wonderful opportunity for me to expand my personal knowledge through the back and forth engagement with my group members and through the sharing of ideas. I learned a lot from this course which I could use towards my personal life and for my teenage boy. I believe my postings are clear and concise and reflect well on course material. I participated in every week’s discussion and tried to post my discussion ahead of time to allow my peers ample opportunity to read them and to provide feedback. I was also open to the comments. I tried to read most of the posts and respond to at least two posts every week. I am trying to improve my critical analyses skills by responding to my peers’ posts. As English is my second language, I just need more time to reread understand and process the concepts. Energy keeps all living organisms alive, as they need a continual supply of energy to function in order to survive. Some of these processes are continuous such as, metabolism, which is the chemical reactions which occur in the body, these occur by using or releasing energy from chemical substances. Another continuous process which use energy is the transporting of molecules in order for them to break down, and to build new ones. The breakdown of large molecules into their simpler forms to release energy is known as catabolism, for example, when glucose is used in a cell to release energy. And the opposite reaction, is called anabolism. This is when energy is used to build complex structures from simple cells, for example, tissue growth and
