U.S. Airways Flight 1549 Accident: Flight Accident: The above mentioned airplane was a planned commercial passenger flight that took off from LaGuardia Airport, New York destined for Charlotte Douglas Airport in North Carolina on January 15, 2009. Six minutes after takeoff, the airplane was successfully abandoned in Hudson River after striking multiple birds during its initial climb out. The crew reported by radio two minutes after takeoff at an altitude of 3,200 feet, the Airbus experienced multiple bird strikes. The Airbus was ditched in Hudson River after the aircrew …show more content…
After successfully ditching the plane in mid-river, the aircrew began to evacuate the 150 passengers immediately. While some passengers were evacuated through the four mid-cabin emergency window exits, others were evacuated through the front right passenger door. The rescue efforts involving local ferries and tugs began almost immediately with some passengers standing on the wings of the floating plane while others entered life rafts. In addition to these local ferries and tugs, police helicopters, rescue divers and Coast Guard vessels among others joined the rescue efforts. Notably, other organizations provided about thirty other ambulances including various hospital-based ambulances. Medical help was also provided by various agencies on the Weehawken side of the river. These rescue and recovery efforts led to the safe evacuation of all the passengers as well as the flight crew. While seventy-eight people were treated for minor injuries and hypothermia, the two broken legs of one woman, a fight attendant, was the only major injury. While some patients were treated in triage facilities, about twenty-four passengers and two rescue personnel were cared for in hospitals. The aftermath of the accident led to the plane being anchored to a pier near the World Financial Center in order to stop it from floating out
Al-Qaeda decided to do a series of four coordinated terrorist attacks. Flight 175 crashed into the
terrorists which caused the plane to go into a field. There were a total of four planes, one fell into a field at 10:10 a.m in Pennsylvania and another one also flew into the Pentagon and the last two flew into the Twin Towers in Manhattan, New York on 9/11/01.

Captain Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger also had to make due with his only resource: The Hudson River. “Against the Odds,” by Pearson Realize, is an informative article explaining what occurred on flight 1549 of January 15, 2009. Merely 5 minutes into the flight a flock of Canadian Geese flew into both turbines causing serious engine failure. Captain Sullenberger had two options. He could either try to land on the runway risking various buildings and civilians, or he could attempt to crash into the Hudson.
On September 11, 2001 four planes were hijacked by terrorists. After the hijacking, two of the airplanes were crashed into the North and South Towers of the World Trade Center. The third one made impact with the West side of the Pentagon. The last airplane crashed into a field outside of Shanksville, Pennsylvania. Through the
After a tragedy like 9/11, I am sure that many people were scared to death and would not want to leave their houses to go outside. Many had already died, some were in hiding and the rest were missing. No one was ever going to leave their homes to go to a football game, no matter, how badly they wanted to before. Litsay & Williams (2001) believe that the reason the sporting events were postponed or cancelled was because N.F.L commissioner Pete Rozelle made a mistake of playing weekend games after President Kennedy was assassinated in 1963, and they did not want to make the same mistake he did (para. 6). They continued by saying, “N.F.L. officials are still sensitive about the action 38 years later. Rozelle said years later that his decision to continue play had been the worst mistake of his career. ” (Litsay & Williams, 2001, para.7).
The invaders sent two of the airliners into the towers of the World Trade Center, located in the southern part of Manhattan in New York. American Airlines Flight 11 crashed into the tower of the world Trade Center. As a result, the two towers collapsed, causing severe destruction of surrounding structures. A third plane was sent to the Pentagon, near Washington. Passengers and crew of the fourth airliner (Flight 93 United Airlines) have tried to take control plane from terrorists, and the plane crashed in a field near the town of Shanksville in Pennsylvania. This day
On September 11, 2001 was one the most tragic day that occurred for the United States. Four airplanes were hijacked by terrorists from the middle east. They aimed toward important targets in the United States, two airplanes flew into the Twin Towers in New York City, one plane aimed to the Pentagon and fourth plane was headed towards the U.S Capitol in Washington but crashed in Pennsylvania and never making it to their target. The movie, United 93 attempts to show in detail what occurred on September 11, 2001. The movie does a great job on showing the historical accuracy of that day.
History has been defined time and time again by powerful people or groups shaping the social narrative of influential events. Made most famous by Winston Churchill, the notion of history being written by victors pays no more relevant context than the events surrounding the morning of September 11th, 2001. There is no doubting the historical significance of this morning, “The horrifying atrocities of September 11 are something quite new in world affairs… this is the first time since the War of 1812 that the national territory has been under attack, or even threatened,” (Chomsky, 11). As with any major event in human history there have been a handful of explanations, most notably from the American government itself, and yet since the moment the first plane collided into the World Trade Center as many questions as answers have arisen from the rubble. This paper will explore a variety of conspiracy theories that have surfaced due to contradictory scientific evidence and government influence regarding the World Trade Center buildings and Flight 93.
The infamous day of September 11, 2001, will be remembered as “the deadliest terrorist attack in U.S. history”(history.com), as well as for all of the lives that were taken and the families that were affected. Four airplanes sought out to take down the Twin Towers, the Pentagon, and the Capitol Building or White House, but one of these planes never made it to its destination. United Airline Flight 93 took off from Newark Liberty International Airport heading towards San Francisco with four hijackers and forty innocent citizens that were unaware of their fate. This flight, known for the courage of its passengers, was depicted in Flight 93 and United 93 which are very similar movies that were both released in 2006 and follow the same storyline.
The most controversial flight in the 9/11 conspiracy, rivaled only by the disappearance of Flight 77, is the damage done to the pentagon. The first mystery surrounding this event was the impossibility of a Boeing
American Airlines flight 1420 crashed in Little Rock, Arkansas. The crash killed 11 people, after running off the runway and impacting an approach lighting structure. The causes of the crash are still being investigated but the likely causes include the plane touching down 2000 feet passed the runway threshold, the rapidly deteriorating weather, and a fatigued flight crew.
The airline industry has seen drastic changes since September 11, 2001. The government ordered a complete shutdown for three days of not only all commercial aircraft but such carriers as domestic flights and emergency aircraft. For days after September 11th, all aircraft stayed on the ground. Even military aircraft had to receive special clearance to fly. In a ripple effect, the entire economy of the United States and the world was put on hold. The New York Stock Exchange shut its doors because of the attacks on the towers of the World Trade Center.

When I stepped into the large neatly organized white polished plane, I never though something would go wrong. I woke up and found myself on an extremely hot bright sunny desert island filled with shiny soft bright green palm trees containing rough bright yellow hard felt juicy apples. The simple strong plane I was in earlier shattered into little pieces of broken glass and metal when crashing onto the wet slimy coffee colored sand and burning with red orange colored flames. After my realization to this heart throbbing incident I began to run pressing my eight inch footsteps into the wet squishy slimy light brown sand looking in every direction with my wide open eyes filled with confusion in search of other survivors. After finding four
