To TxBDC Undergraduate Scholarship Committee: This is a letter of intent for the TxBDC Advanced Research Scholarship I. I have volunteered with Dr. David Pruitt’s team for six semesters starting from Fall 2015. I have gained numerous valuable skills after six semesters of volunteering in the research lab and I am considered to be one of the senior volunteers in the lab. During behavior shifts, I help new volunteers adjust to the lab and learn their duties, make sure that all the booths are running smoothly, and note my observations throughout the day. In addition to behavior, I am also a senior member of the histology team, which I have been doing for six semesters as well. My histology duties include sectioning, staining, and scanning slides
I am writing to you in support Jacelyn Omusi and her desire to pursue and develop her research ambitions in The Leadership Alliance’s Summer Research Early Identification Program. As the Director of Academic and Research Programs and the McNair Research Scholars Program at the Academic Advancement Program at the University of California, Los Angeles, I work with many students who possess interest in research and desire to attend graduate school to obtain their PhD. Jacelyn, however, has displayed recognizable fiery passion and immense potential in her research interests, thereby motivating me to recommend her for your program.
Upon receiving an email from my Presidents Emerging Scholars advisor, Angela Murray regarding the incredible opportunity of interning at Morgan Stanley that Mr. Kevin Ringdahl shared with her, I was elated. I have known Morgan Stanley to be an outstanding leader in the financial services industry, and to see that diversity and inclusion is at the heart of the business makes me proud to be a potential candidate for the Morgan Stanley Richard B. Fisher Scholarship Program.
It with great pleasure that I recommend Robert for admission into National Honor Society. As his Boy Scout Community Service Advisor for over 7 years, it has always been clear to me that he has a strong desire to serve his community. Robert has been a very active volunteer in his community since he was in fifth grade and the lessons and skills that he has learned from these experiences are reflected in his character, which is very rare among youth his age. He knows that, even though he is still a minor, he can make a large impact in his community by sacrificing a few hours of his time to helping others.
I learned many things from my experience while volunteering at the Fox Valley Humane Association. One of those is how much my time really does matter. While completing tasks like laundry, dishes, greeter, and collecting donations out at the mall I realized how much one person can contribute. By helping out with these tasks I prevented the staff from doing it. If volunteers weren’t present someone would still need to do the work which would have been taking away from staff duties. The staff has other duties to tend to such as tending sick animals, preforming spaying and neutering, declawing, and working at the desk. These are important to the animal’s health and if the staff were always busy completing tasks volunteers do there wouldn’t be time to tend
I am excited to be one of the candidates for the 2017-2018 National Junior Honor Society. I understand that the National Junior Honor Society is for students who demonstrate exemplary scholarship, citizenship, service, leadership, and character. I believe that I have maintained a grade point average of 3.55 or higher and have shown all of the five given standards of the National Junior Honor Society. I believe that my involvement with the National Junior Honor Society will help me to prepare my future as a leader, character role model, and good citizen.
Thank you for your consideration of me as a candidate for the National Honor Society, it means a tremendous deal to me. I have worked extremely hard to earn my chance to become a member of the National Honor Society and this application resembles a small prize on the enduring path to success for me. I believe, as a member of the National Honor Society, I will be able to enhance my spirit of service and accomplish more service goals and projects. Although, I already have many leadership skills under my belt, I can only imagine the many more skills I will gain from being a member of the National Honor Society. I believe you can never stop learning.
I am seeking membership into Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated because I want to grow and contribute my time and talent to an illustrious, originating organization. I aspire to be a part of a sisterhood where I can express myself, and have my skills nourished by prospering African –American women. This summer I was involved in a traumatic car accident and survived, tragically two of my dearest friends did not. On the car third spin I squeezed my eyes shut, and braced myself for a collision. Suddenly, the car jolted forward and flipped. At that very moment I realized that I am here for a greater purpose, and vowed to take the necessary steps to fulfill that purpose. God is not finished with me yet, and I do not want to sit on my Lord.
Overall, I am a devoted and well-rounded student, making me a perfect candidate for National Honor Society. Not only do I posses the four tenets, character, scholarship, leadership and service, but I am also constantly working harder and striving to be better in all four regions. National Honor Society will help me reach my goal in becoming a better student and person. In addition, being a member of National Honor Society will allow me to be an example for other students, just like the members had been for me. In conclusion, I should be a member of National Honor Society because I demonstrate excellence in all four tenets of National Honor Society.
I wanted to thank you again for allowing me to be a part of the HBCU Pride Summer Institute. The experience was enjoyable and enlightening. Since this experience, I have seriously questioned my career goals and direction. In fact, I really miss our quarterly self-assessments. They really provided a roadmap for growth. I also love working with Gina. She is awesome. I feel inspired, just as I did with Dr. Gamble, to stretch myself and knowledge base. I want to do more.
I am writing in response to the letter that I have received to apply for the National Honor Society, and I am interested in becoming a member. NHS was first brought to my attention my freshman year, through peers and some teachers who would talk about all of the good outcomes and opportunities that can come about from being a member. From that point on, that has been my goal. I have worked as hard as I could to get up to where I am today.
I was thrilled when I received my letter informing me that I was eligible for National Junior Honor Society. NJHS provides numerous opportunities for me to improve upon my character development, leadership skills, and citizenship. Involvement in NJHS will allow me to hear other students’ ideas and provides me additional opportunities to give back to my
Being nominated as a candidate for the National Honor Society is a big honor, and it means that I have accomplished my goal in regards to serving and being a leader in my community. I believe that I would be a valuable member of the National Honor Society because I am reliable, optimistic, hard-working, and I have the initiative needed to better my community. I am a person who always gives 100% into everything I do. Whether it is my academics, sports I play, or other activities that I take part in, I never see a reason not to put my all into it. I love to help and motivate others to do their best as well. I have maintained a GPA over a 4.0 both my freshman and sophomore years, and I intend on working diligently to maintain it over the next
I am extremely excited to be given an invitation to the National Junior Honor Society. My understanding of how important this will be for me vastly grew after I found out the basic tenets of this organization. I believe this group is going to aid me multiple ways through the opportunities given to improve many levels of my every day life. Hopefully you will accept me into your
Where did God fit inside the equation, and how would all these elements shape His Plan: my husband, my supervisor, my transformed ambition to enroll into college, my college professors, and my career job choices?
Growing up in poverty meant always being in a pinch for money. This led me to my decision of seeking a job within the first month of my freshman year in high school. Thankfully, this decision led me to the precious self-taught skill of time management. I was able to build my skills until my sophomore year. I tried to take on more shifts at work than I could handle, in aspiration of saving up for a car, and consequently my grades began to slip. I acquired my first C in my favorite class: Chemistry. Being an aspiring student in the medical field, and a student who prides themselves on their grades, I was devastated. As a result, I soon reached the epiphany that one has to have priorities in life; I chose mine to be education. I discussed with my boss my situation and she gave me a set schedule of a doable 4 days a week. This allowed me to do my homework and studying in advance. This also permitted me to get enough sleep,
