Prince George’s Community College has many resources on campus for students. Many of these resources provides benefits for students not only academically, but physically as well .One resource that the college provide is a tutoring center, a place where anyone can go to get help on paper or assignment for free . Besides the tutoring center the college also provides a gym in which student can use for physical activities for example sport like basketball, lifting weights, and much more. But I for one personally prefer the tutoring center because it is a place where I can go to get help on assignment that I do not understand. And it is near the library where I can do work quietly and peacefully. Which is why a campus resource I would like to …show more content…
In a quiet room I am able to focus more on work instead of the area around me and lose focus on my assignment. This happens to be a huge issue for me because I have AHDA where I tend to lose focus quickly. So I figure if I can study in a quiet place , why not try the library which I did in addition it turn out that if I study in the library for about 1-2 hours for that amount of time I would be able to get some work done before I start losing focus again . Another reason why I would like to utilize the library this semester is because of the computers and quiet study rooms that the college library provide for students. I would like to use these utilities for my future assignment that I would be working on. Both places seem to be a good place where I can get my work done and it would moreover benefit me to stay long to finish my assignment instead of going home failing to recall that I have typed up an assignment or simply trying to type up assignment but getting side track by the internet. This is why I would like to use the library this semester because of what the library provide and so much
Students aren’t limited to a local physical library. With technology, students have several sources of information in various formats such as books, articles, newspapers, videos, and much more.
The tutoring center would have high school students present to help other students with homework and studying. The technology room would have many computers and printers that were Wi-Fi compatible and high school students who could assist the users with anything they need. The snack bar would also be ran by high school students and would have healthy snacks and water available. The basketball/volleyball courts would be an ideal place for tournaments and for small teams of kids who could not play for their school for different reasons. The fitness center in this Community Center would have many different types of equipment that could be used by all ages. Lastly the meeting venue would be an area that could be rented out and used as a place for family reunions, birthday parties, weddings, etc. Combining all these activity areas into one facility would be very convenient and beneficial to many community
As well as how much involvement goes into planning for classes to visit the library. I always remember as a student having library days, but I did not know that the librarian went and sat in on teachers meetings to gain information on when we needed to go or what to have ready for us when we got there. I feel that having a library with material avail be to the students will show students that Google is not always the way to gain information. Debbie also said that it has been said that extended periods of use on the computers is damaging to the eyes, and more students are complain about their eyes hurting or excessive headaches.
Schools have made big investments in building new infrastructures like gymnastics, cafes and other entertaining facilities. Butler Community College for example, built a new building in recent years. The new 5000 building located in Andover has a gymnastic hall with lots of equipment inside. One day I went to the gym to work during the open hours, but it was closed. I assumed the gym was closed because nobody was there to play sports.
The library has plenty of computers for students to use on research papers, online homework, or ideas for their projects. The computers also give students a chance to increase their knowledge through their research on different topics. The main purpose of the AC library to be equipped with computers is to “support class-related assignments”; therefore, students are only allowed to use computers only for homework, essays, or projects (“Computer Use Policy,” 1). The library’s computers give students free access to the internet and programs such as Microsoft Office as well as many others that will allow them to complete their homework assignments or projects. Jennifer Lacy is a student that goes very often to the library to use a computer to do her online homework and she believes that “the library provides a good amount of computers for anybody who needs them.” Lacy informs that the library also allows students to print out papers with a small fine of ten cents per page for black and white and twenty-five cents for color; this information could also be found on the Angelina College website under Library. If a student were to have trouble with the computers or printing, there is always a librarian available to help the
A student resource facility is a vital aid for college students. The Reitz Union is a popular student resource facility for the students of the University of Florida to participate in various activities. The Reitz Union “was named after the 5th president of the University of Florida, J. Wayne Reitz” (ufl.edu). The Reitz Union strives to “enhance the student experience and enrich the campus community by providing dynamic learning opportunities, premiere programs, quality services and outstanding facilities for students and the university community” (ufl.edu). The criteria that makes up a good student resource facility is food, resources, extracurricular
I learned that this student is getting about six hours of sleep. There is a lot of controversy of amount of sleep students need. However, six hours of sleep is enough for the student, because she is awake throughout the class time. The student is on a good diet because she eats breakfast by arriving early to school. She is very determined to pass this class with a good grade. She always comes in for the tutoring session during lunch and after school. Therefore, I will be able to provide her with additional support and one to one tutoring during lunch or after
Common Core can save a lot of money for school resources. For example, Common Core can save up to $927 million if they went on a bare bone approach to open-source materials, annual computer-based tests, and online professional development (http://www.edweek.org). This proves that $927 million can be saved for other uses. The saved up money can be used to pay for new equipments, field trips, other resources, esc. In addition “The development of reliable and valid national criterion-referenced assessments may save many states money that they can then use to target specific instructional needs”(www.amle.org). As a result, schools won’t need to spend unnecessary amounts of money on assessments. Schools will be able to use saved money for
The number of students using these campus resources is growing every semester. Although many students on campus are willing to use these services, their availability is limited. Students are often discouraged to use these resources due unavailability of appointments, and long wait times. In order to increase the efficiency of these facilities and to uphold to their mission of helping students reach their full academic potential, I purpose to research several strategies that will increase the accessibility of these resources to a larger student population. Specifically, I purpose to increase the number of locations at which these facilities provide their services, recruit more staffs and increase their
Students on campus or off campus can get assistance with their assignments in many different ways, students on campus can meet with librarians by scheduling an appointment. Moreover, all of the students who are on or off can go live chatting with librarians, when the librarians are available, or the students can always email them. The librarians are available on Monday- Thursday from 7:30a.m to 8p.m, on Friday from 7: 30a.m to 5p.m, on Saturday from 8a.m to 4p.m, and Sunday is
I found the information in the Read section very helpful this week. I never thought about studying and doing school work in a designated spot. I do not know about others, but it is hard for me to study in the same place every time. I have a husband, dogs, kids, and a friend all living in my home it can get very chaotic. When I get home from work I go straight to my bedroom where it is quiet to do my studies, but sometimes my husband wants to watch television in the bedroom. After doing my reading this week I followed the suggestions and I set up a specific spot to study. I also created a weekly schedule so I can manage my time more efficiently. I hope this will help me to be successful with my school work.
Most schools offer special resources and policy exceptions for student athletes. Schools usually provide fairs that introduce student athletes to clubs and organizations that may help at the beginning of the school year. They may also provide information booths that provide helpful resources. Colleges with strong student-athletic programs may offer unique academic services, such as exclusive access to libraries, study halls and departmental facilities. Student athletes should know that they may spend a short amount of time on their campus, so they may have limited familiarity of the school. This includes the functions and locations of buildings and departments. Becoming familiar with the school will help students successfully complete coursework.
Ten of the computers should be connected to the Internet and have common programs that students would use to write research papers and create presentations. The other five computers should be connected to research databases only such as Ebsco. There should also be a "quiet area" where students can study, do homework, research material, read, write papers, etc. A "quiet area" would give students a place that is conducive to learning and an area to get away from the busyness of their life in order to do their homework. The "quiet area" would consist of at least six large tables with four seats to a table. This area would also contain to large couches and comfortable chairs to sit. Throughout the library there should also be several large comfortable chairs to sit and read on.
After receiving my markup that I received back from the Smarthinking Tutor Center, I revised my paper without any troubles. Not only did the tutor help me revise my paper but she also told me my strengths and weaknesses in my paper. First, the tutor told me what she thought was my strength all throughout the paper. My strength was having one topic per each body paragraph in my paper. The tutor said this allows my ideas to be well-organized and makes it so the reader is less likely to get confused while reading my paper. On the other hand, I had a few weaknesses in my paper. The weaknesses in my paper are not having a clear enough thesis, not properly identifying the advertisements used in my paper, and some introductory elements were missing
The library is a wonderful place to go to if you would like a quiet place to work. I like being at the library because it is filled with knowledge, and there are many different books that interest me. I enjoy going to the library because walking there clears my mind. Also, there are many books that are available for the public to read and it is a quiet place to do work.
