Jeff Miles Mrs.Schlosser English 10 21 January 2015 Tupac Shakur LIfe Story Born in New York City, Tupac Shakur grew up primarily in Harlem, New York. In 1984, his family moved to Baltimore, Maryland where he became good friends with Jada Pinkett Smith. His family moved again in 1988, to Oakland, California. His first breakthrough in music came in 1991 as member of the group, Digital Underground. In the same year he received individual recognition for his album "2Pacalypse Now," with his explicit lyrics depicting cop-killing and rape, this album was the definition of “coming in with a bang.” His solo movie career also began in this year with Juice (1992), and Poetic Justice, whom which he co-starred with Janet Jackson. However, law confrontations were soon to come. Tupac was indicted for an assault and battery charge and server a 15-day jail term in 1994. In 1995, Pac was accused of sexual assaulting a female fan, thus, causing him to serve an 8 month sentence in federal prison. …show more content…

His legacy as a rapper and as a person changed the way the world viewed life. Tupac made a name for himself through his demeanor, his vision, and his determination to change the world. Selling over 75 million albums worldwide, Tupac’s music has made him a rap icon forever. When you mention the word, “rap,” you think of Tupac. His music portrays his life of trials and tribulations, hardship, racism, and growing up in the ghetto. Tupac grew up in the ghetto most of his life.
