The jaw joint, medically referred to as the temporomandibular joint or TMJ, is made up of the bone below the mouth (the mandible, commonly referred to as the jawbone) and the bone just above the mouth (the maxilla). I really enjoyed your post and can relate to you because I’ve also experienced issues with TMJ. I have been to several doctors and have found little relief. I would like to add to your post by expanding on the symptom of ear pain and TMJ dysfunction. I read an interesting article by EMedicine Health, in which it states that people can sometimes mistake the ear pain they get from TMJ disorder as an ear infection (E Medicine Health, n.d.). This totally makes sense to me especially because the temporomandibular joint seems to be pretty close to the middle ear. According to the Mayo Clinic, TMJ syndrome can cause for a person to get Tinnitus and which can cause an annoying ringing or buzzing sound in the ear. (Mayo Clinic, 2016.).
