Marilyn Monroe wasn’t your typical teenager or adult. She was faced with many different trials and tribulations during her life. Even though she had complications with her parents growing up , she still succeeded in life , becoming a famous movie actress and what people say “America’s Sex Symbol” Marilyn Monroe born as Norma Jeane Mortenson, daughter of Gladys Baker, was born on June 1 , 1926 in Los Angeles , California. Growing up was kind of hard for her , she never knew her father and she was in and out of foster homes because of her mother’s psychiatric problems, which resulted in her being put in a mental institution. Marilyn spent most of her life in foster care and orphanages , she stayed with a family friend for about 5 years but was soon put back into foster care at the age of 7. On August 5, 1962, Marilyn at 36 years old, was found dead in her bed next to a bottle of sleeping pills. Her death is what looked to be a suicide , the doctors ruled it as a drug overdose , but because of her “extra special” relationship with President Kennedy there have been rumors that he murdered her to keep their affair a secret. She was buried in the most expensive casket there was called the “ Cadillac Casket” which was made of heavy-gauge solid bronze and lined with champagne-colored silk. Although she and Joe DiMaggio had gotten a divorce years before her death , he sent roses to her grave every week until the day he died. Marilyn Monroe was not only a “sex symbol,” but a very strong woman. During her career, her films grossed more than $200 million. She went through many trials and tribulations in her life, but she still managed to succeed and become a famous actress.
