Stakeholders of our target project include, Trent University students, more specifically business students and students interested in internships. As well, prospective students, the university, employers, the city of Oshawa, and the community at large.
Students and prospective students would be affected because internships can provide students with the necessary work experience and skills required to get a job in their field. Improving our existing internship program can assure that both current and prospective students are marketable and prepared when entering the workforce.
Trent University is an obvious stakeholders as it pertains to our legacy project because they essentially make this happen.

On 8th September 2015, we had our first Ethics Class. Professor Powers started the class by reviewing a case involving Queen’s University, Canada and the COO of the newspaper empire, Hollinger, David Radler. David Radler along with his business partner in Hollinger, Conrad Black, were found guilty of diverting funds of around $32M for personal benefit. Radler, that time 63, faced 29 months in prison and a $250,000 (U.S.) fine for his in fraud at Hollinger International Inc, after agreeing to co-operate in criminal probe against Conrad Black (The Globe and Mail, Sep 21 2005). Because of this co-operation, Conrad Black got 6.5 years in prison though Radler was equally accountable for the fraud according to the judge Amy J. St Eve. (The Globe and Mail).

After 180 years of service, one could assume Cheyney University has seen it all. Formerly known as the Institute for Colored Youth, they were founded in 1837. At that time it was illegal for slaves to be educated, some would even deem it as tip toeing on a dangerous line under those circumstances. To be found during that time period is a true testament to the school’s ability to defy odds. Once again they find themselves walking a fine line, as they are now struggling to keep their accreditation.

Attending William Paterson University provided me with an insightful perspective on discovering my true values and interests through their various course options. When I first arrived at William Paterson, I felt confused on picking a major. I knew I wanted something health-related, but I found it difficult to figure out where I would fit best since there were so many career paths available. Eventually, I chose public health.
Wilfrid Laurier University is famous for its alumni connections and world-class co-op programs. I would like to leverage these opportunities to develop an advanced education as well as reinforce my networking skills. The Laurier has a very positive atmosphere that I believe will greatly contribute to my learning Experience. With Canada being an increasingly multicultural nation, knowing more than one language is beneficial when it comes to opportunities. I could use my proficiency in both English and Chinese as a competitive advantage in my future pathway.
The Black Student Union seeks to uplift minority students at Samford University by creating an encouraging community on campus. BSU service projects and events inspire the development of relationships between minority students and the entire student body. Brianna Walker, senior marketing major and BSU president, said, “All of these things are done to create a positive outlook on minorities. The Black Student Union gives them an outlet to express themselves within their race and expand the opinions and minds of other races.”
Up to 100 internships are available for young adults to apply for. We want to make sure that we prepare our future workers to the fullest extent.
2. The project will particular focus on women and students entering the program who show great potential. The portal will allow the consortium members to identify students early and to track their academic progress. The consortium to leverage resources is novel and takes an exemplary approach to strengthen engineering courses and career offerings among the member institutions.
Business internships are helping students gain real world experience while they are not actually out in the real world yet. Internships are becoming more and more popular with college students in today’s world. An internship is basically when a student in college goes to a company or business and works while they are still enrolled in school and still getting academic credit. The main purpose of the internship is for the student to gain valuable on the job work experience. But there are also other things that a student can get from internships.
