Historically the Junction Triangle and Bloordale area was a very industrialized place, with many factories and rail lines running through it. Nowadays most of the factories are gone but the rails remain. The biggest issue going on there is Metrolinx’s proposal for the Davenport Grade Separation, which is an examination of possible solutions to the Davenport Diamond, which is the biggest train track intersections in North America. The current plan is an overpass that will run along Davenport road. The intention is to bypass the freight line that runs parallel to Dupont street, this will remove a key bottleneck in transportation. Many folks in Junction Triangle have purchased properties which had relatively low property value, partially due to

Specialty Toys, Inc., sells a variety of new and innovative children’s toys. Management learned that the preholiday season is the best time to introduce a new toy, because many families use this time to look for new ideas for December holiday gifts. When Specialty discovers a new toy with good market potential, it chooses an October market entry date.
Toys play an important role in childhood development as children learn roles and skills from playing. As a result, the toys children are subjected to have an affect on which roles, interests, and skills are learned and practiced. Through Lego’s product Duplo, I will demonstrate the influence particular gendered toys have on children and their performance of traditional gender roles. Gender, which is a learned performance, is something society has been taught from a very early age and toy advertising has played a significant role in reinforcing the performance. One tradition that is reinforced and naturalized by society is the ideology of a male dominated society, representing strong characteristics of heterosexuality and masculinity; also known as hegemonic masculinity. Therefore, using Ideological Criticism, I will analyze how through the branding and design of Lego’s Duplo toys, children have been constructed to do gender differently, ultimately perpetuating and reinforcing hegemonic masculinity.
According to Aristotle, a tragic hero is a literary character of magnitude that “makes a judgment error that inevitably leads to his or her destruction”. Unlike the Greek philosopher’s description, Arthur Miller, the author of the essay “Tragedy and the Common Man”, considers a tragic hero to be a character of ordinary status that “is ready to lay down their life to secure his or her personal dignity”. Miller illustrates this belief in his Puritanical play The Crucible, featuring the honest and wholesome protagonist, John Proctor as the tragic hero. Proctor, a farmer who despises hypocrites, finds himself in a string of conflict when he commits adultery with his former house servant and becomes what he hates most, resulting in his death. Proctor’s role as a true classical tragic hero is demonstrated by his relentless fight to expose Abigail and the “witch trials” as lies, and save his wife and secure “good name”.

Many African American women have finally embraced their natural hair and are no longer perming, straightening or altering their hair. However, it has become difficult to obtain the necessary hair care products and learn the ins and outs about caring for their hair, but with the help of social media, they are obtainable. Ever since African American woman decided that they are going to embrace their natural hair, perm sales have decreased. More than 26% of perm sales have decreased since 2008 (Opie & Phillis, 2015), while perms are declining, natural hair care products are increasing. While natural hair care products are increasing, it is no thinks to big brand stores or beauty salons in near hometown. It has to do with buying

Mesoamerica have been connected the North and South America culturally and geographically throughout the history. Mesoamerican culture and aspects heavily influenced southwestern United States, being the frontier borderline between North America and Mesoamerica. It is very important to study the relationship between the Mesoamerica and American Southwest because American Southwest contains various elements of Mesoamerican culture and this provides fundamental information about human behaviors, history, interactions, and tradition in America. Our group has selected Agriculture, Architecture, Religion, and Trade as our categories to analyze the relationship between American southwest and Mesoamerica. Fair trade, we will focus on scarlet macaws and how it got traded from Mesoamerica in the American southwest and its significance. For architecture, we will compare the ball courts of Hohokam and that of Mesoamerica. Significance of ball courts and how it got introduced into the American southwest from Mesoamerica will be discussed as well. Religion will be analyzed by focusing on the cosmological beliefs of both groups and the similarities and differences between Mesoamerican cosmology and American southwest cosmology.
1. I did my research on toys at Target. What I discovered was that mostly all gender-neutral toys have to do with educational toys and toys for children whose mindset does not see that’s a girl or boy toy. All the gender-neutral toys were colorful, but mostly used green, blue, yellow, and red colors, thus making targeting boys and girls. What I found in the masculine toy section was that mostly all the toys were blue, black, or dark colors. Lots of toys promoted violence like the Nerf guns and Power Ranger toys with their swords and killing the bad guys. They also promoted sports balls and cars only in the boy section when girls can play with these as well. What I found interesting is that they had Jake and the Neverland Pirates toys and
Women find themselves obsessing over their hair. They spend a tremendous amount of time and money trying to keep it looking good. It is absolutely amazing the number of hair products that are lining the shelves in the local drugstores, beauty stores, and shops. The fact is that this leads to a lot of frustration and confusion. Women simply do not know which product to try. Well, one woman decided that she was going to make it easier for women to select a great hair product by testing one on her own damaged hair. She selected the Wen Cleansing Conditioner. She shared her story on Bustle.
I think life was ordinary for Jewish people before the German occupation because the boy in the picture is smiling and he has a stuffed animal like most kids have. Both of these reasons mean the kid id happy. My picture relates to the archive picture because the boy in my picture (me) and the boy in the archive picture both have stuffed animals. These photos tell me that Jews were the same as us now. We both, as kids, had stuffed animals and back before the Nazi’s came the Jewish people were
Watery eyes, flaring nostrils, flailing limbs, and the temper of a furious bull, your child is having a horrendous tantrum. Even though you’ve taught them morals and positive values, this seems to recurring issue. There is one question all parents must ask themselves, “ What kind of outside influences am I allowing my child to govern themselves with on a daily basis?” These days, boys and girls alike face the incessant impact of society in their social, intellectual, emotional, and behavioral lives. This influence starts at a young age with the toys and games our little tykes surround themselves with.
A Doll’s House, by Henrik Ibsen, portrays a young married woman, Nora, who plays a dramatic role of deception and self-indulgence. The author creates a good understanding of a woman’s role by assuming Nora is an average housewife who does not work; her only job is to maintain the house and raise the children like a stereotypical woman that cannot work or help society. In reality, she is not an average housewife in that she has a hired maid who deals with the house and children. Although Ibsen focuses on these “housewife” attributes, Nora’s character is ambitious, naive, and somewhat cunning. She hides a dark secret from her husband that not only includes borrowing money, but also forgery. Nora’s choices were irrational; she handled the
Nora Hemler – The protagonist of the play and the wife of Torvald Helmer. Nora initially seems like a playful, naïve child who lacks knowledge of the world outside her home and a bit of a ditz. When her husband, Torvald, calls her things like his "little squirrel," his "little lark," and, worst of all, a "featherhead," she doesn 't seem to mind. Experiences and knowledge have enabled her to see her position in her marriage with increasing clarity and finds the strength to free herself from her oppressive situation.
