Chapters 1–5 introduce an average boy who would become a remarkable man. Born in 1917, Louie Zamperini was the child of Italian immigrants. Growing up in Torrance amidst poverty and anti-Italian bias, Louie got in the habit of running outside the law. He started smoking when he was 5 years old and drinking when he was 8. He stole anything he wanted—mostly food, money, and whatever else he could find. He ran small scams and vandalized property. Pete, Louie’s older brother, became concerned.
It was only a matter of time until my parents weren’t parents any more.As we were leaving the house all I could think about was where are we going and for what reason are we leaving the house for. Before all of this we(my brother named Kenny Curtis(KC) and myself named Kyle) were instructed to grab a bunch of clothes and get in the car.I never actually realized what was happening until we started living at my mother’s friend's house.I realized that my parents were in a divorce. It stunned me for a while, but eventually I figured out that it is ok and most people get into a divorce.
Instead of going to high school, he began to hang out in the streets of Baltimore and had gone into various situations where he was being dealt by the police. However, after recognizing the limited amount of support he received from the job, he had gone back into selling drugs in order to support his family. At this point, the result of the lack of nurture started to affect his life choices. After he decides to go back into the drug dealing scene, there was an incident where a marauder stole $438,000 worth of watches and jewels from the store which had ended with an officer being killed.
The dinner party had just ended and Plum, Green, Mustard and I were walking to our cars when we saw something laying on the ground lifeless. When we approached the lifeless thing I saw that it was my friend Mr. Boddy. Mr. Boddy is a fit man with brown hair, blue eyes, and always wore a suite that the maid Mrs. Blanche White always ironed the night before. When we got close enough to the body we saw that there was a note and a candlestick the note stated "I am at your dinner party and if you don’t find me by 5:30 I will kill you all and make your deaths painful enjoy trying to find me."
Whenever he walks on the streets, especially during the late night hours, he tries to be wary of his distance between people. He began to really take it upon himself to make himself appear less threatening. He lets people who may be skittish walk past him. He would also remain calm and congenial whenever he faced a police encounter. During his early life in Chester, PA, he witnessed many tough guys get locked up. All the bravado didn’t help them in the end. It only led to sadness and misery, and he had been a survivor of that life. His willingness to never give up helped shaped him to the writer that he is today. He could’ve chosen the easy way out and took the street life but he overcame it. This determination help set the precedent to him not giving up when everyone seems to be against
I woke up this morning. It was a morning much like any morning, except, it looked like a
One day a man named Tyler Dawson was on trip to Chicago for vacation. He decided that he would go camping it was during the winter he was prepared and had his equipment with him. It was a bright peaceful day and snow was everywhere, it was very quiet and relaxing. He decided to go further into the woods, he traveled to a part of the woods that no one ever ventured too. It was always very dangerous to go further into the woods, but he was prepared any decided to go venture off. As he was venturing it started to get darker and colder. As he was getting flashlight from his bag he heard a cracking noise. He shouted “is anyone there” with no reply.
The first keeper of the semester for me was Ezra Barnett coming in to teach us what he knew. It was definitely an amazing experience to have someone with a different energy and with such knowledge of the culture we were studying come in with his input. He was a very cool person to be around and very easy to get along with. As far as music and dance go, he was able to bring a different energy and liveliness into the class with the music he sang while drumming, as well as the different sounds he made. I learned the importance of confrontation in dancehall, and how once again less can be more in these confrontations. Just be groovy, and smooth and it's really all you'll need. But keep that confrontation on the dance floor.
Ryan Davis is my best friend for many reasons. Ryan is 13 years old and loves to play with nerf guns. You should see his collection and how many bullets he has. Let me just tell you that he has a lot of them. He also pretends that they are real and like he is in an actual war. In his backyard he has these boulder type things that he uses to play. Whenever I go to his house we always go outside with nerf guns and have a nerf war. Ryan is important to me because his parents are nice to me and my family, and Ryan is nice to me and my family. They help us out a lot, whether it be taking me somewhere when my parents are at work,or taking me to his house to hang out. One thing we also always do whenever I go to his house is we jump on his trampoline.
In Perry County at Linden Middle School on December 9th I met a guy named Dylan Western. Dylan is short and fluffy, has blond hair and has 3 sisters. At that time I was with a guy named Lance Lair. He is short, has brown hair, and is an only child. Lance figured out that Dylan liked me and threw a hissy fit about it. That day I broke up with Lance because I was tired of his crap. That day Trevon came up to me and told me that Dylan liked me. After lunch that day Dylan came up to me and asked me, “Will you be my girl?” I was star struck that he asked me and I said yes.
Scott is a very quiet laid back man. He rarely gets extremely excited, raises his voice, or shows anger. For instance, someone rudely put down an idea he had saying it was irrelevant to the problem they were solving. Scott never raised his voice an inch and replied back “I’m not saying you have to use my idea to fix the problem, I want you to use this idea and build off of it and discover a possible conclusion.” He never wants to intensify an argument or conversation by seeming rude. Ultimately, he shows his respect and suggests ideas to extinguish the possibility of confrontation .
Ace (the main character) fought against the hindrances and attempted to comply with normal societal rules. He worked a legitimate job at the dry cleaners and did not partake in illegal activities despite the fact that his best friend, sister’s boyfriend and the majority of the neighborhood did. Ace watched people die and get booked but this did not deter him once he stumbled into the drug game through his legit workplace. Ace saw the difference in the money that he made and the money the street made. Ace desired to move out of the neighborhood, but that could never happen with his minimum wage job. Ace had less money, no hood status, and no self-sufficiency so he turned to quick money. Ace lived at home with his single mother and sister; he witnessed his mother disrespected by his sister’s boyfriend because he gave her money. Ace felt like less of a man. This was one of the many strains in his life. His masculine identity and good boy or lucky personas weighted in on his decision-making. Strain increases the likelihood that individuals will join or form criminal groups like delinquent peer groups and gangs (Cullen, Agnew, and Wilcox, 2014). Ace joined the lifestyle to rid himself of that lack of masculinity amongst other strains. All of the young men turned to crime as a way to advance for hood cultural goals but could not achieve the goals by only using lawful methods. There
In fifth grade, the year after I finally left elementary school, I was placed into a class in which I was not acquainted with anybody. That resulted in myself concluding that my 2013-2014 year in the Spring-Ford 5-6 Grade Center would be disheartening. Additionally, I was timid, which emanated in difficulty forming friendships, resulting in myself becoming lonesome. However, one day my cherishing, marvelous mother, amazed me and my siblings by bringing a four-month-old, Labrador retriever-beagle mix dog home and named him Rocky. Rocky made me contented and confident, which eventually aided me in making new friends, converting 5th grade into a prodigious year!
It was a normal day for everyone. Sunny, sticky and a little cold, but a typical day in Tennessee. No one knew what was going to occur later in that day. Packing up, putting the suitcases in one by one, my family, my brother Declan and parents, were ready to take on yet another adventure. Declan, was playing with his blonde stringy hair, as usual, whining about the long trip ahead.
