College is a time for pursuing a wide array of activities and interests, but each activity takes time.(Thidodeaux 2010). Students have a lot of time on hand when they transition to college from high school. Many student's seem to think it is a relief or a vacation from parents and embrace the life of freedom. College can be hard at times, but if you apply and pace yourself it could be fairly easily. I had a similar issue a different school, and still have similar issue with school work, my time frame doing my work and managing the time frame to complete it. I believe many students then realize that there aren't any teachers or parent to baby sit you and your school work, it’s up to you to get it done. Students also need to make time for
This quote constantly running through my mind as I begin the most important year of my entire high school career. Every morning as I sit on the bus on my way to school, I can’t help but replay a time during my freshman year when myself and everyone else around me weren’t sure if I would continue in school long enough to see my senior year.
Transitioning from middle school to high school now college. Hardships and victories I have experienced it all. I have gone from the shy student to one of the most involved and active student in my school.
People have a big decision to make once they graduate high school. They have to ask themselves, “Do I go to college immediately, or do I take some time off?” If I were to ask myself that question, I would say, “I’m going to go to college right after high school.” I think it is better to go and get it over with right after high school. My reasons for this are, it is easier to continue an education if I go immediately, I will be done earlier, and I will have time to enjoy life later.
I think when I get to college it will be very challenging for me to keep my grades up while still wanting to go to parties or stuff like that. I would have to make a schedule so I could keep track of time. A good idea while I am working is I could work with a study group of friends to help make it less stressful for me to do my work. It is always good to have fun while studying. Right now as a freshman in high school I am practicing that goal. I have practice almost everyday and still work to do for my classes. I am sure that it is not going to get easier. Although I do get tired when I come home from practice, I still do my work. Sometimes I do my homework in class so I would have less to do at home. Mrs. Martinez tells us to make a schedule in our planners and write down our homework assignments so it could help with keeping track of our work in classes. All so have a binder and keep our stuff organize so we won’t stress on finding work. It really helps. I just hope to have a very educational and fun time in
Many high school students struggle on the fact whether or not should they attend college after high school or not. College is a place to further someone’s education rather than just having an average high school diploma. A person can attend college for however long they want to receive any degree to mind. Going to college will be a helpful advantage to a person life because a person can live finically stable, choose your own career, and enjoy the lifestyle that comes with going away for college.
Over the last decade there has been a steady rise in college and university enrollments. The vast majority of the enrollees are from the 25 to 40 age bracket, and this trend is only expected to continue into the foreseeable future. The trend has been recognized and embraced by colleges and universities all of the country, and as a result the traditional educational methodologies have been adapted to accommodate the adult learners of today.
Transitioning from the middle school to the high school is a big change for a student. When we moved to the high school, we thought freshman Friday's would be all year and that it would be very difficult to find our classes. However, freshman Friday's only last the first couple weeks, and there are lots of link leaders to help the freshies find their classes. School is a big deal here in the high school. 8th graders should follow our tips if they want to be successful in the high school.
I believe going to college after high school is very important if you want to succeed. Yes a high school diploma is good too. But many careers are requiring more education because technology is getting more advanced. If you want to support your family when you're older, a good path to take is college.
“College is a balancing act” I have personally heard this quote numerous times; however, it did not forecast its complete meaning until I began college myself. High School counselors prepare you academically and allow the paperwork process to run smoothly when entering college as a freshman. Although most of these counselors work hard to help High School senior’s transition into college, I believe no amount of paperwork or aid prepares you for such change. According to this survey, career uncertainty leads to anxiety – I couldn’t agree more with the findings of this study and to me it is no surprise. It is evident that the change of majors and anxiety created by the pressure of future satisfaction of jobs remains evident present day. Personally,
During freshman year, I hope to step out of my comfort zone. I feel as if I have lived in a “Northeast Jackson bubble” for my entire life, and I am ready to experience life in a new and exciting place. I have gone to Jackson Academy for a majority of my life, and I would not trade the experiences I have had at JA for anything. The teachers and students here are incomparable and have taught me so much both academically and socially. One thing Jackson Academy lacks is a diverse student body. At least ninety-five percent of the students at JA are Caucasian and have very similar socioeconomic backgrounds in the Jackson metropolitan area. Transitioning from high school to college will be a challenge because I have gone to school with most of the
I work thrity-five hours a week at a warehouse in Ontario California. When I first registered for college classes, I figured college would be fairly easy to fit into my schedule. After all, I thought, college students are not in class all day, like high school students are. So, I assumed the twelve hours a week I’d spend in class wouldn’t be too much of a load. But I was in for a big surprise. My first semester at college showed me that students who work while going to college face problems at school, at work, and at home.
I am always up for a challenge and love to try new things I have never been a quitter. By the professors not babying us like we are used to in K-12 this is going to be a real challenge, nobody to call home and tell your parents that you are not doing your work. It is all up to you to manage your time correctly and, make sure you have just enough time to do whatever you need to get done. I honestly think it is about time I started taking on some real responsibilities and manage my time, and with me becoming a student at your college I believe that I would have a great opportunity to do just that.
The transition from Middle School to High School can be overwhelming for many students. Having a Peer Leader makes the transition easier because the new student has someone to talk to that has been through the same experiences they will soon encounter. Peer Leadership is a great opportunity to enhance my leadership skills, be a role model, and share my experiences with others. I will be able to show the incoming students how to maintain a balance between school and extracurricular activities, and make the most out of their experience at New Providence High School. From my own transition into high school I know how important the Peer Leaders were to make my freshman year successful. These are some of the reasons I would like to be a part of the Peer Leader’s.
The stages of life that I have to go thru change me; specifically, the transition from high school to college. Many people have an understanding of these changes that occur without notice. When I remember my past as a high school student I see a person looking for a purpose, but as a college student I am a well-directed human being with upcoming projects to achieve. I consider myself a totally different woman in many aspects of my existence. A woman with initiative, perseverance and motivation that can accomplish every-day tasks. The change from high school to college makes me experience responsibility, time management and a shift in my way of thinking.
The issue that I am prevailing is that college students are some of the hardest working people in todays society, we are dedicated to achieve our goals to have a great future ahead of us. When a student says there are busy, that most likely means that they do indeed have a good amount of school work to do. One of the articles that helps support my argument is “Researchers have worked out which majors work the hardest in college”(The Tab). The hardest working major according to this article is architecture, working and studying 22 hours a week outside of the classroom. The second is the engineering major, while architect work 22 hours a week this major puts in about 20 hours a week out of class. These majors all definitely include required studying, writing, reading, doing home work or lab work. These majors have been decided through a national survey taken by students.
