Emerson and Bryant both have a similar idea on how nature can affect a person’s life. Emerson shows his idea in one his writings Nature when he says “to speak truly, few adults person can see nature… in the presence of nature, a wild delight runs through the man, in spite of real sorrows… in the wilderness, I find something more dear and connate than in streets or villages” (Emerson). It affects Dickinson’s ideas on the necessity and impact of going to church. She believes that people don’t need to attend church or participate in church related events to receive the same influence on god as other who do participate in these events. She reveals this idea when she says “some keep the Sabbath in surplice—I just wear my wings and instead of tolling the bell, for church, our little sexton sings” (Dickinson). This supports what she believes because she doesn’t do church related things but still has her faith. She doesn’t because she has deep spiritual thinking which allows her to see that she doesn’t need to be at a certain location or do certain things to receive the influence of her religion or hear the words of her faith all she has to do is experience it for herself. Emerson believes that nature connects with religion. He believes that the share similar concepts. He shows this when he says “in god, every end is converted into a new means” (Emerson). He supports his idea because the concept he is connecting with religion to nature is that in nature even in destruction there is life. There has to be death for a new life. For him in religion this concept is the same. He’s saying with god by your side every door that is closing on you is causing a new door to open. The transcendentalist philosophy affects isn’t done here. It causes a change on the way people think
