The Cleveland Indians primary logo from 1951 to 2013, referred to as Chief Wahoo, is a cartoon representation of a stereotypical Native American face. It depicts a character with bright red skin, a large round nose, and wide toothsome grin. Furthermore, the character is adorned with single feather on the back of his head. In the same way the racial caricatures of African-Americans in the Jim Crow era were used to justify and promote racist and discriminatory behavior, Chief Wahoo seeks to serve a similar purpose. Writing rhetorically is often a hard task for writers to do, it’s also one of the best ways for the people reading your work to understand visually the message you are trying to describe to them. When writing in general the best thing you can do for the readers of your work is to describe the visual elements for them in a fun and intuitive matter. And Gustavo Arellano the author of “Taco USA: How Mexican Food Became More American Than Apple Pie” did exactly that. His use of different visual elements throughout the story was very well done and added a lot of great qualities to the text itself.

I, Roger Smith, am bringing this petition to light to portray how America treats its minorities. The irony of how America is lauded to be this liberal and free country meanwhile they forced and dragged African Americans into a life of slavery and inhumane treatment. Husbands, wives, even children are being taken away from their families by force to obey white supremacy. This is the kind of power that creates this sort of hierarchy and damages the meaning of what a liberal tradition should resemble.

A draft of a top-secret piece of interstate agreement on the Trans- Pacific Partnership leaked online causing a hot status to its discussion. Trans -Pacific Partnership (TPP) - is the largest supra-trade and economic organization, the creation of which is scheduled for completion by the end of 2013. In an agreement on the TPP participating countries, generating more than 40% of global GDP: the U.S., Australia, Canada, Mexico, Japan, Singapore, New Zealand, Malaysia, Brunei, Chile, Vietnam and Peru. China and Russia are not included to this list.

The United States has always been promoting trade cooperation among international and inter-regional countries through Free Trade Agreement (FTA), which usually resulted in the elimination of the trade tariffs on variety of products. However, there are many controversies raised by these type of agreements. For example, some may argue that the FTA does not thoroughly discuss or examine the other problems of international trading apart from the import and export tariffs. Free trades seem to undermine the “fair trade” perspective that includes the well-being of the employees and the effect on the environment and the society of the pledged countries. Until recently, the U.S. initiated, the Trans-Pacific partnership (TPP), a global trade agreement that will impose stricter provisions on the labor issues such as workplace safety, labor issue, and labor dispute to the pledged countries.

As mentioned earlier, the TPP is a major potential free trade agreement between twelve of the Pacific Rim countries. The countries are Australia, Canada, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, Peru, The United States, Vietnam, Brunei, Chile, New Zealand, and Singapore (Freil, Sharon, Gleeson, Thow, Labonte, Stuckler, Kay, and Snowdon 1). Interestingly enough, this agreement is the technical successor to the P4 agreement that was initialised in 2006 (Elms 29). This agreement was held between Chile, Brunei, New Zealand, and Singapore. In 2008 the U.S. showed large interest in joining this agreement giving spark to a new agreement that has enticed other Pacific Rim countries (Elms 29). Taking charge of this new agreement the U.S. has laid down most of the TPP 's foundation to create an agreement that should allow for a
