This essay is about how traits are passed and how traits are inherited. Traits are features and characteristics that we can see. Everyone has traits and you get them by inheriting them. Also included in this essay is the breeding of a German Shepard and a Golden Retriever. Everyone has traits, but how do we get them? Your genotypes determine your phenotype (or trait). To determine your genotype, you use the alleles given from each parent. If an allele is dominant then it is expressed by a capital letter, and if it is a recessive allele then the letter is lowercase. Your genotype can be expressed in different ways, Homozygous Dominant (EE), Heterozygous (Ee), and Homozygous Dominant (ee). In order for you to know the probability of the offspring getting a certain trait is through Punnett Squares and Pedigrees. In a Punnett square you put one genotype on the top of the square and put the other genotype on the left side of the square. You use those and cross the alleles and get the genotypes for the offspring. You can then use the genotypes to determine the probability of the offspring getting a dominant or …show more content…
I chose to breed a Homozygous Dominant German Shepherd and a Heterozygous Golden Retriever. I tracked a trait of Fur Color and when I used a Punnett Square I found out that the offspring will have dominant black/brown fur. The ratio for the genotype is 2:2:0 (50% Homozygous Dominant, 50% Heterozygous, and 0% Homozygous Recessive). The ratio for the phenotype is 2:2 (50% Black Fur, 50% Brown Fur). I chose to breed these two dogs because you don't see many people with a German Shepard and a Golden Retriever mix, and you can make money off of them since they are rare. Too help me with this essay and project I read in a powerpoint that ¨Half of the chromosomes from Mom & Half from Dad (23 + 23= 46)¨. That helps me understand how the alleles are transferred and how traits are
Homozygous: Refers to expressing the same alleles for a particular trait. If black was dominant for the above chicken, and the alleles were coded for by B, if it was homozygous, the chicken’s genotype would be BB.
Imagine that you are crossing two plants that are heterozygous for flower color and seed shape. The dominant and recessive alleles for these traits are:
If your offspring genotypes include 1 GG, 2 Gg, and 1 gg, the ratio would be: 1 GG : 2 Gg : 1 gg
Based on your results for the female offspring, predict whether color blindness is a dominant or recessive trait. Explain your reasoning.
Traits get passed down from one generation to the next through Meiosis (cell division), where each parent gives you one Gene for each trait.
* How is it possible for an offspring to exhibit a recessive trait if neither parent exhibited that
Now you have determined some facts about the grounded allele and the trait that it causes. Given what you know, do you expect the mutant F1 flies to be homozygous or heterozygous for the allele that causes the grounded trait? According to your reasoning, if you mated two mutant F1 flies, what percentage of flies would you expect to be wild type versus mutant in the F2 progeny? Draw a Punnett square of this cross to justify your answer.
p2 + 2pq + q2 = 1 ; where ‘p2’ represents the homozygous dominant genotype, ‘2pq’ represents the heterozygous genotype, and ‘q2’ represents the homozygous recessive genotype
You are also provided with a heterozygous female, and a homozygous recessive male for a genetic cross. In this particular female, all the dominant alleles are on one chromosome, and the recessive counterparts are on the other homologous chromosome. Due to a chromosomal condition, in the female no recombination occurs between the M and N loci. Normal recombination occurs between the L and M loci. Diagram this cross, and show the genotypes and frequencies of all offspring expected from this cross.
No prominent political figure is showing their true selves. The excerpt from “Empire of Illusion” by Chris Hedges displays a truthful and accurate portrayal of how political leaders are like when using their power. The idea of political powers putting on a fake front for the people is very prominent and true. Although it can be said that the way they present themselves is pure, it is rare as it would not be an intelligent move as it would not benefit them in gaining power. The hunger for power leads political figures to do things against their morals, like controlling information inside of a nation or creating a false narrative for themselves in order to gain public support.
Major gift requires that the staff meets several times, this way the leader may delegate tasks, equally, the manager keeps track of assignment, training and volunteers. It is recommended that the executive director and managers from different departments develop skills to feel comfortable asking for donations. Overall, the agency’s personnel should be trained as fundraisers, thus they can help to raise contributions. Staff should be prepared to contact and solicit sponsors. It is an effective strategy to personally contact sponsors. Hight level of sponsorships is considered after the agency has grown a relationship (Weinstein, 2009).
The chants of SEC SEC SEC echo across the sports world during the college football bowl season. The underlying notion in college football has been that the South Eastern Conference (SEC) is the most dominant conference and home to the best teams. This notion was placed to the ultimate test in the 2016-2017-bowl season. The long time notion of the SEC’s success has been destroyed after a horrible bowl game performance calling from this notion to be removed.
While studying eugenics, genetics plays a detrimental role in determining heredity. Genetics is the study and behavior of genes ("Genetics"). These genes are encoded pieces of information that comes from both parents, these genes are found on any of the 23 pairs chromosomes; these chromosomes that contain genes form the human genome. 22 chromosomes all contain the same genes although slight variations of alleles, alleles are alternate forms of genes, and the 23rd chromosome contains the information for the zygote's gender.
In meiosis the pairs of chromosomes (that code for possible outcomes of characteristics) temporarily join and exchange information (crossing over) creating different combinations of gene types (alleles). For example; a pair of chromosomes could be a dominant allele (gene type) and a recessive allele which might code for brown hair. After crossing over it might be recessive which could be blond hair.
I agree that I am a golden retriever because the qualities of a golden retriever match my personality the best. I don’t think any other animals best match me. I don’t think any other animal match me because I don’t have the qualities of the other animal such as lions, otters, or beavers. I believe I possess qualities such as witty, caring, and loving so I am a golden retriever. I am not a conflict maker, but I will make conflict if I am forced to, I am not scared of conflict but try to avoid it. But will face it if need being. I am a quiet person unless we are on a topic I care about, then I will voice my opinion and much more. Generally, don’t talk over people when they are speaking unless talking to a friend. Also, Mrs. Fette told me to add
