1) Why did you choose to apply for this position? I currently live in an area where there is a low amount of personal training jobs and opportunities. I have wanted to move to an area that has a larger population where personal trainers are needed with a wider variety of clientele for over a year now. A big thing for me is the amount of clients and experience I am currently getting, which is rather small for where I am. I have hopes that moving to a location such as South Carolina could help me expand my clientele, and have more of a variety to gain resources from other trainers. Experience is what makes us who we are, and helps us achieve the best of our abilities. I believe having a wider variety of clients will help shape me into the best trainer I could possibly be because having the opportunity to be well rounded is where our growth as a person truly comes from. If the company’s policy is okay with that, however, I would not mind bringing in any extra experience. I believe every opportunity for me is a great opportunity, but I will not ruin a chance at an amazing job for something extra. If an opportunity arises to train privately elsewhere, I have no issue with letting the clientele know that they will have to join with this gym before anything progresses. I am by no means the type of person to burn bridges with things that were once good to me. I do however have clients here in Blacksburg where I live that I do hope to still be able to train if I move to South Carolina. As a trainer, and more so as a person I believe it is honorable to stick to what you once invested yourself in. Personal trainers are one of the areas that help with marketing. Having a good amount of certified. expert level trainers, and the satisfaction or results a client gets, help with a word of mouth. Having a good word of mouth brings in new customers which mean new members, bringing in more profit. It is also advertising the personal trainer who had trained that person. The member refers the new person to a trainer and the personal trainers get more clientele, more money/hours, and the facility generates more money too. Also personal trainers can advertise themselves on social media, the walls of the facility or gym- “learn about the staff” or “know our trainers” or advertise in the community. Industry Changes: Within fitness there is more of a demand and need for group training. The YMCA offers opportunities for instructors to train and work at their company. They mentioned that most of the classes they offer are for larger groups. Personal training seems to be heading toward group training rather than individual training.
Athletic Trainers have to have a lot of skills when they work. Athletic Trainers have to specialize in preventing, diagnosing, and treating muscle and bone injuries and illnesses. They have to help injuries for people who are physically active. They would have perform general administrative, such as keeping records or writing reports. Athletic Trainers prevent injury and reinjure whatever injury you may have. They would have to report the progress of your recovery to one of your Coaches or your physicians. Athletic trainers need to know what to apply to injury and they need to know what type of medicine they may need if they have a terrible injury.
I believe that I am the perfect candidate for Newton High School’s Athletic Training Program because I am a tactful, respectful, and responsible person. I am dedicated individual never stopping until a task is completed. Also, I have a big heart and am passionate about helping others no matter what they look like, who they are, and will be there to assist no matter what. I am consistent and I stay on track with my studies never allowing myself to fail. This program would also be beneficial to me because when I go to college I hope to be an Athletic Trainer and I am interested in the field of Forensics Science.
My experiences and intellectual growth thus far have provided me with valuable knowledge related to the field of athletic training. While this knowledge has served me quite well as an undergraduate student at the University of Iowa, there are still areas that I wish to explore in depth to further develop my athletic training practice. In other words, my time as an athletic training student has helped to shape a variety of questions regarding different uses of manual therapies, injury prevention, and the psychological implications of various injuries. If I choose a career in the health field, the career that I want to be in is an athletic trainer. Athletic trainers work with athletes to help prevent injuries. If athletes do have an injury, the trainer must evaluate and treat the athlete with proper medical attention. The trainer must make sure that after medical treatment the player is physically ready to go back to playing sports. When athletes have an injury that involves therapy, the trainer must assign physical programs for them to attend. Athletic trainers work with physicians in getting together the proper rehabilitation program for the injured players. Becoming an athletic trainer has always been a dream of mine since picking up lacrosse in high school. Becoming one is a very rewarding career with helping out athletes every day. They are the first person there when something goes wrong, and help aid recovery to get that player back on the field again. I have been constantly learning about new areas where athletic trainers are needed, however, high school has always stuck out to me. After doing research on the salary, schooling, certifications required, job setting, and the advantages and disadvantages of the career the idea of becoming one has become a huge dream of mine.
You can't focus on Marketing, Staff training, and building relationships if you are spending your whole day training clients. If you have a training gym you should be spending a max of 10 hours a week training clients. I know you got into the industry to train clients but then you should have gotten a job as a personal trainer in somebody else's gym. Now you are a business owner, spend your day like a business

Training transfer means that learners are able to “transfer” their knowledge and skills learned in a training session back to their jobs. The importance of training transfer cannot be overemphasized. Organizations spend billions of dollars each year on training, yet only a fraction of that investment results in improved performance if training transfer is not supported by stakeholders (i.e. any individual or group that has a “stake” in the transfer of training). These include managers, peers, customers and the employer. I had a hard time finding a career. All the careers I came across did not interest me at all. Until a friend came up with the idea of the career of athletic training. That is when I started my research and my interest grew greater.
An increasing number of employers require fitness workers to have a bachelor’s degree in a field related to health or fitness, such as exercise science or physical education. Some employers allow workers to substitute a college degree for certification, but most employers who require a bachelor’s degree also require certification. Most personal trainers must obtain certification in the fitness field to gain employment. Group fitness instructors do not necessarily need certification to begin working. The most important characteristic that an employer looks for in a new fitness instructor is the ability to plan and lead a class that is motivating and safe. However, most organizations encourage their group instructors to become certified over time, and many require it. In the fitness field, there are many organizations, some of which are listed in the last section of this statement that offer certification. Becoming certified by one of the top certification organizations is increasingly important, especially for personal trainers. One way to ensure that a certifying organization is reputable is to see that it is accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies.
The training evaluation process is a necessary assessment of the benefits that the organization and the trainee receive from training (Phillips, 2016), while the performance evaluation is an appraisal process geared to improve employee’s performance and skills after training (Gomez-Mejia, Balkin, & Cardy, 2016, p. 206). These two assessment processes are critical for examining the effectiveness of training and hiring process for the “Wines of the World” class dinner (or the Dinner) at the University of Denver. Partnered with the African Community Center of the Ethiopian Community Development Council (ECDC/ACC) who provides Commercial Food Safety and Service (CFaSST) courses to help refugees get training in the hospitality industry and ultimately find a job, Knoebel School hired CFaSST students to serve the dinner as the capstone for the course. Aware of the various cultural background and English ability of the CFaSST students, students in human capital class designed customized hiring processes and individualized training and performance evaluation programs to maximize every CFaSST student’s potential.
