This term in PE we have been focusing on energy systems and exercise physiology principles in Touch Football. My fitness results, when compared to an Australian Touch Association player are only satisfactory. I have chosen wing as my best-suited position for Touch Football. The purpose of this presentation is to analyse a generic touch training program, the “Dingo Flats Training Program” and evaluate whether it is suitable to improve my touch football specific fitness needs and then present a reinvigorated program that will aim for me to achieve a high level performance of touch football based on training principles and my experiences.
The decision I made regarding my field position as a wing came down to my varying levels of ability through each

Due to touch football players’ not needing muscle mass, the aim of these exercises will be to gain strength and muscular endurance to aid the components of fitness of a wing. To do this, I have firstly decided to enroll a weights session into each week, instead of just one per week for the first three weeks. By doing this, there will be no time for reversibility, allowing me to grow stronger and have fitter muscles through progressive overload. I will achieve this by doing two sets for each exercise, one in the low rep range (1-5) to gain strength, and one in the high rep range (20-30) to acquire muscular endurance and cardiovascular endurance. Each two weeks I will progressively add weight to each exercise for overloading.
Next, the plyometric session, which is every two weeks, will now be weekly and stay as is by using the agility ladder but also include box jump exercises. Plyometric training is vital as it is essential for increasing power by the muscles having to exert maximum power in short intervals (PlyoCity,
All athletes regardless of age, gender, genetics or sport can benefit from effective training. It is important that the selected training improves the body’s ability to perform tasks associated with the chosen
As seen on Day 1 or Monday I have made to start with multi-joint exercises so the client would be able to rest/recovery to build muscles. Therefore, having multi-joint exercises helps loosen up the other joints so you won’t get hurt and would help build muscle.
This report focusses on the 3 energy systems of fitness before relating them to touch football. Touch football is a simple but fast paced game, where the main objective is for one team to score more tries then their opponent. Scoring a tri is achieved by placing the ball in the opponents ‘tri zone’. Played on a 70m long by 50m wide field over a 45-minute time period, the game consists on two 20 minutes blocks of play with a five-minute half time break.
You can use progressive overload to help improve all of these fitness capabilities. To improve agility players can do specific agility courses that will progress agility capability.
This assessment piece will examine and assess my suitability to play either the middle, link or wing position in Touch football based on the fitness test results, energy requirements for selected positions and skills demonstrated in games analysis. In the fitness tests carried out evidence shows that I am best suited to play the position middle because out of all my fitness results. The fitness tests carried out showed that my ratings and results were best suited for the requirements of a middle player in touch. (Appendix One) Touch football is a game that has three positions as a middle, link, and wing.
The relationship between the principles of training and physiological adaptations has a significant impact on performance. Many factors need to be addressed in a training program to make it a successful one for a particular athlete and thus improve their performance.
Should children under the age of 12 be allowed to play tackle football? People playing at a questionably young age risk early psychological trauma, in addition to developing brain disease(s) like CTE. CTE stands for “Chronic traumatic encephalopathy” a form of tauopathy, it is a progressive, degenerative disease found in people who have suffered repetitive brain trauma. According to the passage, Joseph Chernach, who played tackle football since 11 years of age, hung himself at 25 years old due to CTE. Chernach acquired this life-threatening condition while participating in tackle football. However head concussions and injuries aren't infrequent, they've been decreasing case wise, though, to engage at that young of an age remains absurd. The
Muscular endurance is being able to work a muscle or muscle group for a long period of time at less than maximum effort, (Amezdrox, G. Dickens, S, Hosford, G. and Davis, D. 2012). Muscular endurance was tested by completing a sit up and push up test. My rating for the sit up test were super and for the push up test my rating was excellent, (see appendix 1). These tests were chosen instead of others because if you have a strong core whilst playing touch football, it is seen that you can perform better and this is what these tests work on, (Touch Football Australia, 2013).
The nature of Touch Football ensures there is a place on the field for everyone due to it being simple game. Touch Football has a number of mental and physical benefits though, which can improve the state of people’s mental and physical health and fitness (Play Touch Rugby League, 2016). Touch Footballers are constantly on the move from sprinting, walking, jogging to dodging, diving and jumping, working all muscles are the body and increasing the bodies heart rate (Rlskilzsportscamp, 2016). The fast paced nature of the sport ensures participants are always moving no matter what they are doing in its small time frame of around 40
On a melancholy day my friends and I walked downtown because of our boredom and we didn’t want to just sit around, watch T.V., or relax with our victuals. Whilst walking down commercial my brethrens and I tossed the football around and decided to stop by Storvik to play catch. Once we reached our destination we played two on two touch football and found out that one of us had surprising dexterity that we didn’t know they were capable of, and he just kept on juking us out without getting touched. Occasionally when we ran towards someone sometimes we would just be submissive into getting tagged so that we wouldn’t injure each other, but usually we didn’t pick submission. About an hour or so into playing catch we all started to get a little
I observed that she is from a Spanish speaking country, living in the rural area. She was a tom-boy who loves to take care of bulls. The first time she saw a picture of a bullfighter, she became interested in the sport. She started the sport at a young age and when all the men in her family failed at their attempt she didn’t fail. She was dedicated in becoming a professional matador in which she did. Before she enters the bull ring she practice her routine, dressing in her jump shot of fine patterns and dazzling decorations. In the ring, she uses a red flag to distract the bull in order to kill it. The way she moves in the ring reveals her love for the sport.
Part One Touch Football is a team sport consisting of two teams of 6 players on the field at a given time. It is a high intensity game, involving bursts of maximal speed and power. During a game of Touch Football, all three energy systems work towards energy production required for muscular contractions, however one energy system will always be dominant and will be determined by the intensity and duration of the effort performed. The ATP-CP system, fuelled by Creatine Phosphate (CP), is dominant at intensities above 95% of maximum heart rate (MHR) for durations up to 10 seconds.
This term in PE we have been focusing on energy systems and exercise physiology principles in Touch Football. In touch there are three positions: middle, link and wing. My fitness results, when compared to an Australian Touch Association player (ATA player), are only satisfactory. My speed and cardiovascular endurance were within range of ATA players but my agility was not, therefore, I have chosen wing as my best-suited position as the key fitness components for this position are speed, agility, power and cardiovascular endurance. In order for me to improve in my least acquired skill, agility, I must incorporate agility based skill exercises into my Dingo Flats training program. The purpose of this presentation is to present and evaluate the
Athletics competitors participating in throwing events typically undertake periodized training programmes that aim to develop maximum strength and power of the major muscle groups using a range of modalities such as plyometric exercises, sprinting, power lifts, Olympic lifts and weighted throwing drills to complement technical throwing training.
Playing football has had the most impact on the development of my character. I started playing football when I was 5 years old. Playing football has taught me many valuable lessons. While playing football, I have better understood the values of hard work. Football taught me that the only way to succeed in something is by working harder than anyone else. Football has also taught me that when working with a team, everybody has an important role and if one person slacks off it hurts the entire team. There is no “I” in team and teamwork is a valuable life lesson. Whenever teammates are focused on individual accomplishments, instead of the team’s success, the team as a whole does not perform as well. I have learned through this that when you
