Measurable – should measure whether you are meeting the objectives or not.
Achievable - are the objectives you set achievable?
Realistic – can you realistically achieve the objectives with the resources you have?
Time bound – when do you want to achieve the set objectives?
These objectives are specific as they explain exactly what the company expects from their employees, how they should treat their employees and customers and how the retailer should take into account environmental factors when dealing with products/services etc. They are not so much measurable as they do not imply whether they have achieved these objectives or not. They are achievable because they are straight forward. They are realistic and using the correct resources they can be met. They are not so much time bound as they do not state exactly when they wish to achieve these objectives by but you can tell they will be ongoing objectives that they constantly wish to achieve in the future.
Formal Structure of the Organisation
Topshop has very few layers of management in the High Street Store in Buchanan Street; this is known as a flat structure:
A flat structure – also known as a horizontal organisation – is when the specific retail store has very few or no levels of management. With this structure it means the staff will be highly trained in their day-to-day job and will be more productive because they are
In a business, there are a majority of structures that are organised in a business for their employees. An example of a business that has structured their employees is Asda, which was structured their business in a hierarchical structure.
A flat structure is a suitable internal structure for Techno as there are not many levels to the structure. The advantages to this structure are that communications are passed quickly between the levels. This speeds up the process of any decision-making that needs to be made. Many small organisations use this structure.
According to Bateman and Snell, “Two fundamental concepts around which organizations are structured are differentiation and integration” (2011, pg. 227). Differentiation refers to the different units that work on different kinds of tasks with the use of different skills and work methods in an organization. These differentiated units are combinedand coordinated into an overallproduct for the purpose of achieving the organization’s mission as the result of integration. The two fundamental concepts indicate how the organization
One key responsibility of working as a manager is to recognize the best way to organize and run an organization. A manager who can work with and put into motion the structure and plans of a company is very important to the life of the organization. Chief Executive Officer of Chick-fil-A Dan T. Cathy is an example of such a manager and business owner. Chick-fil-A began its journey in 1960 in Hapeville, Ga. Since then the second
“Political Activity is alive and well in organisations. Critically discuss this statement. What factors result in Organisational Politics and what is the role of such behaviour on other people at work?”
Simple structure configurations are starter companies. They hire top level managers to ensure the company serves its mission in the most effective way. Employees who work for these types of companies only answer to one manager which is typically the owner. These businesses mostly have a small crew that work there. These types of organizations work their way up the divisional structure. An example of this type of business would be a pet grooming. The owner is usually always present and there are no managers.
I am looking at Topshop for this report. Topshop is a very large British fashion store for young women selling fashion clothes, shoes and accessories. There are Topshop stores throughout the UK. The flagship store in London Oxford Street is the biggest fashion store in Europe. Topshop is part of the Arcadia group which owns other fashion stores such as Miss Selfridge and Warehouse. Topshop mainly sells its own brand products but in larger stores it has concessions of other more expensive similar clothes. As well as selling Topshop clothes in Topshop store, they have concessions in large department stores such as Selfridges. They also have a website where you can buy a lot of the Topshop range including shoes and clothes for
In terms of “Setting objectives” the objective is growth however there are no specifics on how or when. The company is continually growing with no specific objective of when to expand or how to get there. However, they have been open store globally in a systematic nature. “Crafting a strategy” has been very effective in Costco, there business strategy is to have high
Topshop has multiple strategies in keeping ahead of their competition. They fundamentally believe that what sets them apart from their competitors is the fact that they are not just selling a product but they are selling an experience (Justin Cooke). You can see this notion

To organize and prioritize the current and future projects in the pipeline in a way that fits into the PMB budget of $5B, and ensures projects that increase sales, growth, and stockholder value are of top priority, whereas projects that are not beneficial are either put on hold or discarded.
Quality is something that every health care agency strives to achieve. The Institute of Medicine (IOM) suggests that health care organizations develop a culture of safety such that an organization's care processes and workforce are focused on improving the reliability and safety of care for patients (Groves, Meisenbach, & Scott-Cawiezell, 2011). In order to address an issue related to health care quality, it is important to look at the frameworks that will analyze an organization and identify opportunities to improve performance. The purpose of this paper is to provide a description of an organization and an analysis of the following: mission, vision and values, strategic plan, goals,
An organizational analysis is an important tool to become familiar with how medical businesses and organizations are able to meet standards of care, provide services for the community and provide employment to health care providers. There are many different aspects to evaluate in an organizational analysis. This paper will describe these many aspects and apply the categories to the University Medical Center (UMC) as the organization being analyzed.
This report will demonstrate, apply and evaluate knowledge and understanding of key managerial disciplines of the chosen high street retailer, Marks and Spencer, in different real-world global contexts. According to the report by Deloitte, the retail industry is undergoing immense changes and faces a tough competitive
Before the nineties the Coca-Cola company was having a centralize system of control, but after sometime they realized that if they had to meet the demands of the customers they should adopt a decentralized system in which the authority of decision making is distributed between different managers so that every sector can be managed effectively. This system was implemented in the nineties by the company’s board of directors. Now the organization is having two groups who are responsible for operating:
