In modern society today, people think of superheroes and heroes as people who can do certain things, or have done specific tasks. As a superhero, people assume they will have a power, or an ability that makes them better than an average human, but in the Movie ‘The Avengers’ (Whedon), we see a couple of characters who are normal humans. Tony Stark (Iron Man), Black Widow and Hawkeye are all normal human beings who do not obtain abilities to make them different than any of us. Tony Stark specifically, is an extremely intelligent man who designs suits of armor to strengthen himself to fight powerful foes. A hero, is usually thought to be somebody who saves lives, or has done something miraculous, like going into a burning house to save a man. …show more content…
Being brave is a characteristic that is not necessarily teachable, which is why it is such an important aspect of being a hero. Towards the end of the movie, Iron Man risks his own life in order to save his friends, loved ones, and the world. Iron Man ended up intercepting a nuclear threat from the enemy, and he flew it inside of a portal, in which he disposed of it. Everybody thought he was going to die bringing it up there, due to the lax of oxygen. Iron Man was not worried about his own life, only the lives of his friends, in which case, he showed an insatiable amount of bravery. On the other hand, my dad showed bravery in a different way. My dad and I were at the mall shopping, and as we were shopping we witnessed a mentally handicapped man being picked on by young teenage boys. We watched as people would look at the boys while they bullied the man, and nobody did anything. My dad had enough of the bullying and he put a stop to the kids telling them to leave the man alone, and as he approached them they ran off. This is a strong display of bravery because it shows how some people do not want to ruin their social status by associating themselves with people who have disabilities. Bravery can be many different things, and it is a great trait for a person to
For some people, being a hero or having heroic attributes includes zooming in with super speed to save to city from a monster, but in reality there are no aliens or super powers. A hero is someone who puts others needs before theirs, like Elie Wiesel in Night. Sometimes people aren’t considered heroes, but have heroic attributes like Hans in Journey to the Center of the Earth. Heroes like George Washington are heroes who are also leaders. Although many heroes are considered heroes, some are just put in situations where they must be heroic in order to survive.
In the movie Superdeafy, a boy named Jacob Lang who is deaf struggles with life and school because he can’t hear. He as two parents that are both hearing but they both know ASL. His mother signs to him all the time but his father thinks they should not sign to Jacob. They put Jacob in a hearing class, and since Jacob cannot hear he is struggling and does not know what is going on in the classroom. Later on the in the movie I figure out that the teacher is still hearing but she knows ASL. Jacob loves this superhero named superdeafy or Tony. Well Tony is deaf and he has a show where he teaches kids how to sign and teaches them about deafness.
When people think of a hero, they do not understand you don't need to be just like superman, you don't need to be able to fly, or be immortal and never die. There is no need to wear a mask, save the world, or have special powers. To me, any regular person can become a hero in their own way. I believe a hero can be found in any piece of literature, most main characters are all heroes, but they are all heroes in a different way. To me, in order to be a hero, all you need to do is put someone else's life in front of your own, if you can change someone else's life you can then call yourself a hero. Aristotle once said that a tragic hero is "one who does not fall into misfortune though vice or depravity, but falls because of some mistake".
Tony Ede, a volunteer, has experienced the happiness that people get from the volunteering. From helping people through hard times as a pastor, saving lives as a volunteer EMT, and helping the homeless, Tony is a real hero to people in Delaware County.
“It’s not true that there are no heroes anymore…” (Oliver Stone SB 63) Heroes. Today when we hear heroes we think of superheroes with powers. but have we really thought what heroes really are? Heroes are your regular everyday people that work to the best of their abilities to make a difference in the world. A hero is not someone who thinks about themselves but someone who does things that they believe are right and are admired or idealized for their courage.
When people imagine a hero, one would picture a tall, buff man who is wearing a cape or possibly, a mask. Kids and adults alike would automatically think: Spiderman, Batman, and Superman. However, how does one truly define a hero? The Merriam Webster dictionary explains that the definition of a hero is, “a person admired for achievements and noble qualities,” and when comparing Merriam Webster’s definition to the heroes shown in Marvel’s comics and films; the definition suits the Marvel characters well. When watching Spiderman, you see a man who protects a city with fictional spider senses. While, similarly, Batman protects the world of criminals to make up for the death of the character’s parents. The main character, Odysseus, in the epic
Everyone knows about superheroes and everyone has a favorite if it begin superman or batman. Not all heroes have to be superheroes many people have heroes in their life too. Heroes could be anybody in someone’s life that helps them a for example many people's heroes are their parents because they help them in their life. The difference between a superhero and a hero is that heroes are normal people just trying to help while superheroes are just a made up character in a book or movie. Everybody makes mistakes we are all human but the difference between a normal person and a hero is that when a hero makes a mistake they work to fix it or overcome the problem.
Heroes do extraordinary things and often tend to be people or figures we place on a pedestal whom often have made inspirational sacrifices (Allison and Goethals 24-25). Heroes as courageous, selfless and skillful humanitarians. They can be extraordinary athletes or even someone who gives the gift of time and or sacrifice (Allison and Goethals 26-30). Fictional heroes are described as self-confident, suave, extremely virtuous, and attractive.
Not all heroes wear capes. Nowadays, an ordinary person can also be a hero by helping others when they are in diffucult situation. A hero is a person who has the courage and not completely crumbles by fear. They do good things for others with no cost or benefit to themselves.
All heroes are not fictional characters that have extraordinary or superhuman powers. A hero to me is a skillful or successful person who can motivate me and bring my confidence to the next level even through my down falls. A super hero in my eyes does not have any powers although you might think they do but it’s always their determination and focus that makes me believe heroes have super powers. Now that I have given you an idea of a hero to me, I can now move on to explain different types of heroes.
Bravery can be looked at in two ways, mental and physical. Mental bravery is the trait to keep pushing forward, to keep fighting for something greater. It can be very hard to constantly keep conquering the next battle. Everyone growing up American or even immigrating later on in life may not have had to endure the same hardships, but living in the greatest country in the history of the world gives you brash mental high knowing where you are. Bravery when looked at this way shows strength, strength to have a no quit attitude.
Tony Stark, better known as Marvel’s favorite flying superhero Iron Man, has many quirks that can be characterized as Byronic. With his charming, seductive persona, his intelligence and wit, and his many flaws, he is the poster boy for a modern-day Byronic hero.
Bravery is a great trait for a hero to posses. I think bravery is a key quality because you don’t always know what lies ahead of you and you have to be brave to continue. A good example of this is Charles Lindburgh. He was the first person to fly across the Atlantic Ocean. I believe that took a great amount of bravery because no one had ever made it across, so he didn’t know what lie ahead of him. One of his many good quotes he said, “The most effective way to do it, is to just do it”, (Lindburgh 1).
Fighting for a cause that you believe in can be scary and tough, but being courageous is choosing to act and fight despite the fears that are faced. My father's decision to fight for a cause involved himenlisting to serve for his country, the United States of America, and save the lives of his fellow soldiers. It was a tough fearful duty looking for what was killing most of the soldiers overseas but courage allowed him to do so. Martin Luther King Jr. was a social activist who's cause was fought right here on the home front in America. Being courageous enough, Martin Luther King Jr. chose to join the fight for civil rights for black Americans. Iron man is a
In the movie ‘Iron Man’, the main hero is Tony Stark. Tony is a very successful businessman and is very smart. At one point in the movie, Tony decides to design and built a suit in which the pilot can fly, shoot out of their hands and mid chest, and can take a bullet very well. At first, he was not designing the suit to save people. It was more of a military experiment. Once he “saved” one person, he started to do it more and more. The more he saved people, the more he became known, and eventually he was starting to be called ‘Iron Man’, and a hero he became.
