In the novel “ Beloved “ by Toni Morrison, it talks about the events occurring in the character's of the book, hometown Cincinnati Ohio. The biggest mystery aspect of this novel is the woman who shows up out of the blue and causes everyone to become bewildered. By the end of the novel all the readers questions are,who is the women who appeared, and why is she here? I believe the women who appeared to this family is a reincarnation of the baby that was killed by the mother of the household Sethe. I believe the women is the baby that was killed because, she has a scar on her neck that is the same one the baby would have had from the way she was killed, she acts like a baby and is mentally unstable, she gives the mother Sethe sensations of labor when she's around her, and her knowledge can infer she was the child. …show more content…

The baby girl had been killed by Sethe who sliced her neck with a hand saw. In the book, the author states “ But once Sethe had seen the scar, the tip of which denver had been looking and whenever Beloved undressed --the little curved shadow of a smile in the kootchy kootchy coo place under her chin (Morrison,26,181).” This implies that she in fact has a scar under her neck and it couldn't have been a coincidence in my opinion. In addition to that, the author also says in the novel, “ She had new skin, lineless and smooth, including the knuckles of her hands ( Morrison,5,61 ).” I believe this shows that beloved had to be young to have the flawless and seemingly untouched skin she did. The text also says “ She later believed that it was because the girl's breath was exactly like new milk ( Morrison,115).” This indicates beloved could had been the baby because of the smell of milk on her
