In the novel The adventures of Tom Sawyer by Mark Twain chapter 28 Huckleberry Finn and Tom Sawyer go exploring in the alley. When they get to the alley Tom goes in, Huck thinks that it feels like he has been in the alley for days. All of the sudden Tom goes sprinting out of the alley and yells, “ RUN FOR YOUR LIFE! Without questions the two ran to the old deserted slaughterhouse. There at the slaughterhouse Tom explained what he saw. He saw the drunk Injun Joe in the alley with the treasure. When Tom was running away he stepped on Injun Joe's hand because he was lying asleep on the floor, drunk. Tom grabbed a towel and ran with Huck to the slaughterhouse.

The novel surrounds the life of Tom Sawyer, a boy of youth who lives in a world of fun and games, always facing the consequences that come with the exertion of trying to get all that he pleases. But Tom Sawyer also becomes involved in matters which leave him to take responsibility and grow as an individual. Throughout the novel, several characteristics can be sought within the youthful and exuberant Tom Sawyer, but only three adjectives describe him the best: mischievous, cunning, and compassionate.

In the book Adventures of Tom Sawyer, the main character, Tom, is a very complex person. At the beginning of the book, he is irresponsible and childish. He says and does immature things. Near the end of the book, he grows up a little, and becomes more responsible and mature. Tom's character arch keeps the story moving and gives a lot of form and flavor to the book.

With the arrival of Tom Sawyer at the end of The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, the story significantly changes in tone, pacing and Huck’s character development, taking a sharp turn from a serious story to a campy comedy. Tom Sawyer is Huck’s best friend from before he runs away, and when the two boys reunite, the story begins to reflect that- instead of focusing on developing bonds and relationships, like it was with Jim, it plays off one that’s already there. For readers in our class who most likely haven’t read The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, this interruption of Tom’s character and the change in mood is extremely jarring. When Jim is introduced as a character, he is carefully designed to be a foil for Huck, a parent in some regards, a partner in others, a believer to a skeptic and an anchor to a wild spirit. Tom’s character is not designed to play into the story of Huck Finn- he does not balance out Huck’s character, and thus, the story’s tone begins to take a very informal and goofy vibe. Tom’s character is eccentric and over the top, and the story begins to take way more time than necessary explaining unconventional and unnecessary plans for comedic effect. No longer is Jim’s safety and his own goals and character a focus of the story, like it was on the raft- instead it is a goal, a point of comedy to thrust forwards Huck and Tom’s antics. In the novel The Adventures of Tom Sawyer by Mark Twain, the main character, Tom, experiences many unusual incidents that are not typically seen by a twelve-year-old boy. In the fictitious town of St. Petersburg, Tom lives with his aunt Polly, his half-brother Sid, and his friends Huckleberry “Huck” Finn, Joe Harper, and Becky Thatcher. Throughout the story, Tom witnesses the murder of Dr. Robinson, gets engaged to Becky Thatcher, and walks into his own funeral. Through all of these “adventures,” the author illustrates that a child matures when they accept the consequences of their actions.

Many individuals could be categorized into labels as socially constrained in their abilities to conform to the principles of their society. As a matter of fact, an anonymous representative once declared, “The biggest challenge of life is to be yourself in a world that is trying to make you like everyone else.” According to this reference, individuals tend to venture off onto their mindless adventures. Therefore, each person would carry a distinctive personality that would resolve to their own special character that counteracts with everybody else. On the other hand, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer by Mark Twain is a bildungsroman novel which recalls a young boy in St. Petersburg named Tom Sawyer. He has difficulty dismembering the expectations of his fantasy world to the reality that is expected in his town.

The play “The adventures of Tom Sawyer” is Mark Twain’s widely accredited novel, with real life facts based on his childhood, that takes place in Hannibal, the town Twain grew up in, and involves multiple characters that were from his own experiences. Tom Sawyer is a young boy who throughout the novel expresses, through his character traits, multiple exemplifying ways to outshine the society and rise above social stigmas and lead by example. The book expresses multiple themes throughout the novel which include thrill and seeking adventure, Freedom and Social rebellion, and Romance.

Values are something that an individual holds to be important and meaningful in their lives and every day decisions. Most people are not even sure of which values they actually adhere to or find more important in their daily lives. It takes a bit of deep thought and self-reflection in order to find what one holds most dear in their lives. Life experiences may also change what a person values not only from themselves but from others as well. Such as a person who may value competitiveness in the workplace, may not enjoy it as much if they are passed up for a promotion or a raise. Family and religious background also play a role in shaping ones set of values. A person who comes from a family of farmers may value hard work more than someone who comes from a family of politicians that would find their reputation to be more important. Values are generally adopted at an early age from the ones who raise us and change as we adapt to adult life. So they are not set in stone, and we change what we hold dear according to what we experience in life. My personal values have changed many times over the years due to changes in lifestyle, career choice, additions to the family, and the need to better myself for my family.
