When one hears the word “legacy,” what would be the first idea that pops into their head? Would they think of a firefighter who left a lasting legacy of heroism for his community? Would they think of a doctor who discovered a cure and left a legacy for all future doctors to follow in his footsteps? It is surprising to think that everyone on this planet, no matter who they are or what they do, will leave a legacy that the future generations will inherit. In today’s society, technology is the focal point of everything we do. Technology has improved over time and has created many new opportunities in fields such as education, healthcare, communication, and economy. Considering how much technology has changed and improved over recent years, this …show more content…
Although books are great means of learning, the process of looking up everything in them was both tedious and time consuming. In present days, students possess the power to hold all information at the press of a button. This convenience saves time and allows students to learn specifically what they need. Today, children would be at a disadvantage if they did not have Internet access at home. One article stated that children at their school are given laptops to aid in their learning; however, nine percent of the children do not have Internet access at home. With a converted curriculum shifted towards research and project based learning, it is impossible for these children to do what is expected of them in class (Monahan, 2014). Eighty five percent of America has Internet access, so it is no surprise that most curriculums in schools are primarily based on computers nowadays. Children are no longer confined to the walls of their classrooms as technology improves and provides new and efficient ways of learning and collaborating with …show more content…
In just a few short decades, this generation has continued time and time again to create new and inventive ideas to help us become more efficient and time savvy. We have created what our ancestors most likely thought was the impossible, and we will continue to improve as new generations come along. Technology has shaped the path to success for this generation and will continue to improve as it always does. Every aspect of society will soon be influenced by the technological advancements that are constantly developed now. Soon, there will not be a single industry left that does not have some sort of online presence or be otherwise affected by this digital era. Communication will continue to be improved to help reach out to family and friends. Education will soon be primarily computer based to broaden the horizons of how schools teach their curriculum. Healthcare will keep on improving with new machines and advanced medical practices being discovered each day. The economy will continue to flourish with the employment of thousands of people for app-related occupations. All aspects of this world will continue to rely on the efficiency of technology. This generation will be known for their inventive and progressive thinking skills which paved a successful path for all future generations to keep building
Many of our students have smartphones, laptops, and tablets they use throughout the school day for school work. While some students depend on their devices to look up the current fashion trends and football stats, we feel that technology has also enabled students to think in a different way. Many students are quick on their feet to Google information to prove their friend wrong, send texts and emails in less than 10 seconds, and get excited when they are allowed to use their
If I were to leave one quote as my enduring legacy, it would be “The only person responsible for your success and failures is yourself.”. The quote’s inherent explicit message is that a person is responsible for what happens to them. This message is intended to encourage people to take accountability and responsibility for their actions’ results. On the other hand, an essential implicit motivation of the quote is to counter the inclination of people currently to blame everyone but themselves when their plans go awry. Furthermore, another implicit message of the quote is people need to become self-reliant. In today’s intricate and constantly fluctuating world, people are becoming more and more dependent on others while they fail to take liability
Twenty-first century society is constantly presented with exciting advances in hardware and software technology. Use of technology in CCT 109 classrooms should be allowed to capitalize on these advances and challenge the learning status quo. Technology’s adoption encourages rethinking of how information is acquired and processed, how people learn, how they are empowered, what jobs will be in highest demand, and what the nature of learning and useful information is. With the increasing accessibility, affordability, and popularity of laptops and tablets, it is essential for students, professors, and institutions to welcome these devices in the classroom. Technology’s benefits to the professor, student, and society far outweigh any perceived disadvantages.
Learning methods have also been transformed by technology. Before technology was incorporated in schools, essay writing was hand written, regardless of how long the essay was. Mathematical problems were solved mentally or calculated on paper until the solution was found. Handwriting skills in children was good, because of the amount of practice they had using it everyday in their school work. Furthermore, children developed a vast amount of book knowledge by using library resources from actual books. However, today it is not the norm. Almost every school issues students with devices like iPads or tablets from as early as kindergarten. It is important to realize that with the use of technological devices, children would prefer the quick action of iPads and tablets in contrast to handwriting or reading a book to find reference points. To put it another way, children will end up using mobile devices both in and out of school, leaving no room for outdoor forms of recreation. A Northlines article, “Information Technology and Children”, mentions that the availability of Internet connection on mobile devices is harmful, because they can use it negatively, giving children an uncontrolled source of entertainment and connectivity. Similarly, the availability of
As we breathed in the crisp air for the first time, we just established something new. A legacy. Amongst the billions that have already been created and to the future ones that will continue to be constructed everyday. Not one is a copy, but they're unique and individual in their own way, helping to construct whom people become and determine what we leave afterwards. But as for everyone else writing this essay my legacy has just begun, and will carry on for a long time. So let's begin.
This section comments about leaving a legacy behind but more than leaving wealth and good and properties the author refers to a different type of legacy. Refers to the intimate legacy the value of life we leave behind. What we have been, what will people remember us by, what are we leaving behind. We leave behind our attitude, values and believes. Our legacy is not what we are worth, nor does it end the day we dye. Rather it is what the world will remember us by. The author goes into explain this period of time we have the wisdom and vision to make the legacy we want it to be. Weather it be to change memories and create new ones, live a more balance life, work on our spiritual, etc. now is the time to do it.
We are your legacy, for you have helped to shape us and enriched our lives beyond measure. Coach just doesn't seem to accurately describe who you were to me. You are not only solely responsible for my love of softball, you came at a time in my life where I needed someone to believe in me... I can never repay you for the love, kindness, instruction, motivation, wise words and life lessons you instilled in me. You were my coach, my mentor, and my friend. You introduced me into the softball family and I never left. Thank you for being in my life and thank you for being you. You will forever live in our hearts. RIP Metcalf
The Digital Generation is the first generation post 9/11 and has been raised while the United States has been in a war on terror for the last 15 years. The Digial Generation has been living during a time of economic instability and of increased awareness of global warming, depletion of natural resource. The Digital Generation is the first generation to fully grow up in a internet world constantly connected to the world around them and globally through smartphones, tablets, and computers. The Digital Generation are more adaptive and faster switching from task to task. We learn when we want and where want our SAT and GMAT Scores are at all time highs. Unlike the Greatest Generation we are connected globally and are streamed information on world conflicts as they happen. We are able to assembly a clearer picture of the world events. I never thought about our generation before like I am today while writing this paper. It is interesting reading the statistics that have been formulated on my generation. When the Digital Generation is asked about jobs with social impact 61% wanted those jobs and 72% wanted to start there own business compared to Generation Y who said 31% and 56% already
The biggest problem with today’s education is how rapid technology is advancing. So rapid, in fact, that schools are attempting to keep up, but are sadly falling short. Teachers are being required to incorporate new technology into their everyday methods of teaching. The use of IPads or laptops in classrooms can be helpful to both teachers and students(edreform online classes)”. If a teacher is not overly familiar with the new devices, then the students will lose what little time they have to learn. As a teacher is attempting to fix technical problems in one class, the class that has a tech savvy teacher will be advancing far ahead. On the other hand, if a classroom is full of students who are very unfamiliar with the technology will have to be taught how to operate it, which wastes valuable time. In today’s society technology usage is so much more widespread than it was just five years ago. The new toys can allow schools to broaden their curriculum. Since most work can be done on a single device, kids can work at their own pace and potentially reach heights they could never reach with book, pen, and paper. The benefits of this new tech greatly outweigh the downsides. The biggest problem with technology in classrooms is their lack of use. So few schools have jumped on board with these programs, and therefore are holding their kids back. These products are readily available, but “the use of new technology
A legacy is what someone is remembered by. It is how people are looked back on. Desks and chairs and notebooks and binders can’t look back at me and remember me, only people can remember. That means the impact that I make on the people is what matters most. If I could choose, I would want people to look back at me and say, “She was great. She always had a good attitude and was always working her best.” I want to make an impact on people by giving them the mindset that they should always have fun while they’re working. I would like if every time someone looked back at me they would be more and more eager to achieve their goals. My biggest goal for this year that I work my hardest to receive straight A’s, and have so much fun while doing it.
I have never really given any thought to what my legacy will be. As I am getting older I realize that there are many things that are important in my life that I want to focus on. They include family, working in a profession that has meaning and will help people as well as living a long and healthy life.
If I had to choose a legacy for people to remember as it would be for everyone to remember me as a fun person. I know it’s going to happen before I’m in high school because I’m already a fun person. I will be known for having the turntest parties ever. Everyone will know me and love to be around me. In high school I’ll play all my music out loud and everyone will be dancing to it, I might get in trouble but it will be worth it for many years. I also want people to know me as the girl that’s chill. I’ll hang out with everyone and leave no one by themselves even though everyone else calls them weird. Before I’m in high school everyone will be able to talk to me no matter what they want to say. Everyone will be able to tell me their secrets and
When my years of life begin to come to an end and I look back on life I want to have a good conscience when I leave the world knowing that I did my best to make the world a better, nicer place. I want to have . . . a good legacy.
Legacy is defined as what a person leaves behind from an earlier event. Usually this is some sort of money or property but a legacy can involve anything. In the sense of our school, legacy could be starting up a new club or it could be a person who is remembered as the class clown. The legacy that someone leaves behind is essentially how the school will remember them. After graduation, seniors can still have a positive, lasting impact on the overall school environment.
The lack of resources is becoming a major issue in our community as the area continu4es to deteriorate. “Teacher researchers noted that students were more likely to engage in classroom activities when technology was used, however, 47% of teachers responded by asserting their students used technology for less than 80 minutes per day” (Godzicki,144). The lack of home internet, computers, transportation to libraries and other educational centers is challenging. We as educators must be observant that not all students have access to the same tools we have at home, or as some students have currently. We must plan accordingly in order to be fair to all students. An example of this would be if a teacher requires a student to complete a five page research paper. As professionals, we cannot assume that a student will complete this typed essay from home, most children will not tell you this is not possible due to the lack in technology for fear they will be made fun of or put on the spot. Allowing for adequate computer lab time or computer carts is the only way we as a staff can assign such long projects and require the use of expensive technologies that most, do not have at home. Based on Godzicki study “In order to increase student motivation and engagement, teacher researchers implemented a technology-supported learning environment” (Godzicki, 130). The importance of getting our students up to date with today’s technology and a fair amount of time having
