Why Do People Judge? No one can deny that most people are quick to judge; whether it be how someone looks or how they act, there is always something to say about someone. When it all comes down, we are all on Earth. Everyone one of us are human, but why is that we allow each other to become separated due to differences in status and looks? In a world where violence is caused due to differences, we are forced to ask ourselves this question often. Looking into it, we can see the true judgement of people are due to how they look, how they dress, and how they speak. Another reason people may judge is simply because they don’t understand. Another reason to it is because people are just simply raised into believing opinions that are told around them. Opinions have the power to control people more than facts. With the look of someone, people are able to come up with assumptions of their character without speaking a word to them. People’s opinions allow them to hate others with no reason to it. In the book, To Kill a Mockingbird, by Harper Lee, we are given the examples of how these unreasonable opinions can lead to a world of hurt. The first example includes Jem and Scout’s friend Dill. This leads most readers to believe that Boo is a maniac in the beginning. No one at Maycomb personally knew him due to his lack of going outside; everything we learned about book in the beginning of the text was made up. Boo did not go outside let alone go to church so this was very unusual in Maycomb so as a result he was made to be a weirdo. Someone else who was judged is Atticus.
