Scout beats Walter up for being the reason she got in trouble. This reminds me of Katniss Everdeen in the Hunger Games series because Katniss would also get mad and could not control her anger. Later on, Scout tells Jem about what happened that day. Jem invites Walter over for lunch. I wonder how Jem knows Walter. During lunch, Walter pours molasses all over his food and Scout yells at him because she doesn’t understand. Calpurnia takes Scout out of the room to tell her how rude that was and that she should apologize for being rude to her guests. The kids go back to school. After hearing about some kid trying to run away, Scout tries to because she is tired of having to deal with Miss Caroline, but luckily she doesn’t. Jem and Scout return home for dinner. After dinner, Atticus asks Scout if she wants to read with him. Scout then remembers about how she got yelled at for being taught from her father. Scout asks to not go to school for the remainder of the year because another kid is staying home from school. Atticus makes a compromise with Scout which is that they will continue to read together at home if Scout goes to school. They end up

Atticus then questions Mr. Tate and asks him about Mayella’s injuries. Atticus asks Mr. Tate which eye was black and after some confusion it is declared that it was her right eye (this turns out to be important).
Scout’s moral teachers help her understand people as a whole. The first to present this challenge to her was her classmate Walter Cunningham. Walter is one of the less fortunate people that were hit by the crash and causing them to be on the poorer side. After a scuffle at school he comes over for dinner, there he displayed rather strange behavior. Drenching his plate in syrup, Scout in pure disgust lashes out at him once again criticizing him about his eating habits. Which lead
Chapter three starts off with Jenson getting his room. Casey is able to take a closer look at him and notices his poor hygiene. Deciding it was best to go over rules Mike and Jenson headed downstairs. After about thirty minutes of CIA negotiating Mike and Jenson finally come up with a list of do's and don'ts. 1. The narrator of this novel is Jean Louise Finch, daughter of Atticus Finch, who is also addressed as Scout. Scout is a young 6 year old girl who lives in Maycomb, Alabama. Harper Lee, author of “To Kill a Mockingbird” narrates this story in first person.
The novel to Kill a Mockingbird, is about a young girl named Jean Louise Finch. She is also known as Scout. Scout experiences different events that change her life. Scout and her brother Jem are being raised by their father, a lawyer named Atticus and a housekeeper named Calpumia in a small town called Maycomb. In the South racism and discriminations towards black was a big issue . The story begins when Scout and her brother, become fascinated with a mysterious man known as Boo Radley. Scout and Jem meet boy named Dill who comes from Mississippi to spend the summers there. Jem quickly tells the story of Boo Radley to young Dill. Boo Radley, a man in his thirties who has not been seen outside of his home in years, mainly because of
On August 9, 2014,a young man by the name of Michael Brown was shot and killed by a police officer. It is little known why the shooting occurred, but the boy was unarmed. This could be one of many cases of modern day racism and segregation. In 1930, “even after the abolishment of slavery in 1865, blacks were still almost powerless(BBC 2)”.Blacks were heavily segregated and had almost no rights. Many cases of segregation in the 1930s caused a lot of current day racial tension in the united states.
Atticus Hill cherished and fostered his role as the bad boy in the family. He always dressed in all black, rode a Harley, and had long, shaggy black hair. But now that all his brothers had found their Mr. Right he thought maybe, at age thirty-nine, it was time to look around for a partner. He thought the drummer at the gay bar was sexy, so headed off there to check him out.
In Harper Lee's To Kill A Mockingbird,” Scout, or Jean Louise Finch, is the main character, she is a very intelligent young girl who loves to solve her problems with fist fights. Scout has two close friends, one of them is her older brother Jem, or Jeremy Atticus Finch, and the other is Dill whose full name is Charles Baker Harris. These two characters become her allies, for they get into trouble with her as well as helping her with her problems, such as getting out of trouble. I believe the main idea in this story is about Scout and how she chooses to deal with her problems, or bumps in her journey that are either because she is a girl or because she has the ability to read. The time period in which this story takes place is around the 1900’s.
Jean Louise ‘Scout’ Finch is the main character in Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird and is the narrator of the story. She starts the novel at the age of six, and over the course of the novel, grows to be nine. Racism affects Scout throughout the story mainly because of her father, Atticus Finch, being involved with defending a black man in court that was accused of raping a white woman. Scout also resides in a small Alabama town called Maycomb. This also leads to much prejudice throughout the book.
Dill returns to Meridan for the school year, and Jean begins to think about starting first grade. Her first day of school is not what she thought first grade would be like. Her teacher, Miss Caroline Fisher is a new teacher, and is new to Maycomb. Miss Caroline offers Walter, a poor boy, lunch money, but Walter declines because his family cannot pay her back. Jean is punished because she tells Miss Caroline this instead of Walter.
In Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird, one cannot equate the story to have a sole purpose from the author throughout. Rather the story contains many scenes and passages that have meanings in themselves. In the book, one passage where Harper Lee expresses a clear purpose is where the children meet Dolphus Raymond. The purpose of the passage with Dolphus Raymond was to show the effects that prejudice can have on individuals as well as the community.
The story begins as Scout describes her family history and her town, Maycomb during the time of the Great Depression. Atticus is a prominent lawyer and the Finch family is reasonably well off in comparison to the rest of society. She and her brother, Jem, meet Dill, who has come to live in their neighborhood for the summer, and the children share stories and fantasies about the mystery man who lives near by. The man’s name is Arthur, or Boo, Radley. The house
