Timothy John Green was born in Liverpool, New York on December 16,1963, and was later adopted by a loving family. As a kid Tim had two dreams. One to be an NFL football player and two to be a best selling author. He began playing football at the age of eight and later on went to Liverpool High School as an offensive lineman, but switched to defense his sophomore year. That year his team won sections and he was named the defensive MVP. This caused colleges such as, Notre Dame, Penn State, and Georgia to recruit him, but he chose Syracuse. At Syracuse Tim Green led the team to its first bowl games in six years, but at the same time he was finishing at the top of his class. He was named co-valedictorian and a month later he was drafted by the Falcons in the first round. Tim became one of the better players on the Falcons, even though he endured several knee injuries. Throughout his NFL career he always wrote because he loved “the thrill of creating stories that can change the quality of a person’s life.” During the offseason of 1987 Green began to go to Syracuse law school. There is so much emphasis put into high school football in these communities like Odessa that athletes pour all of their hopes and dreams into it. Ultimately once these you athletes are eventually stripped of the game of football, their futures are jeopardized and their lives are irrevocably damaged. The goal that is set is to win the state championship and nothing, including injury will change that goal. This occurs when Boobie Miles, the star running back, chooses to play in spite of a torn ALC, rather than yielding to the unimaginable pain that he is in. The team imposed a structure, which establishes the goals and values of the team, therefore reinforcing the team’s solidarity to winning the championship not only for them but for the town.
