The three interesting ideas that made me want to read this passage was The Problem and Its History, Harmful Effect, and Gender Difference. These three interesting ideas described how therapists lower their clients to have sex with them. What caught my attention is how 7% therapist are males and only 1.5% are females. This passage tells you information about how maybe telling a therapist is not that greatest idea, because they can use that information you gave them and try to harm you such a way. Here are what they can make you do or make you feel like doing committing suicide, having sex with them, having anger problems, or even worst feeling emptiness/isolation. The reason why it is better to use SWTJC Library Online Database is due to the
Once a therapist enters into a dual relationship with their clients, feelings of mistrust, unhealthy attachment, and exploitation are common. In a survey conducted by the Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, a group of various females who admitted to having sexual contact with their therapists/ psychiatrists were interviewed and given a questionnaire to measure their self-esteem, depression, attitudes, and psychosomatic/psychological assumptions. The results showed that the women ranging from ages 26-45 developed a strong mistrust and anger toward these health care professionals (Feldman-Summers & Jones, 1984). This study demonstrated how much influence a therapist has on their client and shows that the bond between therapist and client is delicate and needs to be treated with both respect and understanding. “Sexual boundary violations are considered the most serious ethical infraction in the mental health profession, as well as in higher education and pastoral counseling. Recognized as unethical due to the power imbalance inherent in the structure of the therapist-patient and teacher-student dyads, erotic contact between therapists and patients has been revealed in prevalence studies to occur at an unacceptably high incidence rate (9 to 12 per cent) among mental health practitioners” (Czlenza, 2007). The imbalance of power when there is a sexual relationship present can be extremely damaging to
In the mid 1800’s there was multiple reasons to explain the cause of the Civil War of 1861 in the United States of America. From the compromise of 1850 which passed five bills to try and solve a four year political debate between slave and free states. Most importantly the Fugitive slave act which by itself created significant turmoil. To the Election of 1860 when Abraham Lincoln was appointed to office. With the Compromise and it’s fugitive slave act plus the election of Lincoln, the tension surpassed it’s breaking point and the Southern states started to succeed resulting in the impending war.
Hunger. Emptiness. Death. In the novel Night by Elie wiesel speaks about hunger as something all jews were used to, empty and deprived of nutrition they were already dead. Hunger consumes all hope and love that people have with one another.
When many things break, they often never return back as healthy as it was before. In John Knowles’ A Separate Piece, Gene and Finny are two best friends who go through many hardships together as their years pass at the Devon School. All of the boys in attendance are preparing to be enlisted in the war that is going on outside of school but they each are fighting their own inside themselves. In A Separate Piece, Knowles utilizes the allegory of Finny’s broken leg to represent the difficult times throughout a friendship.
The general arguments made by Todd Leopold and Doug Gross is that cell phones are a big part in the lives of people today. More specifically Leopold argues that cellphones are taking people’s imagination and creativity away. Leopold writes in this passage “ If you want to get any creativity thinking done, shut off the damned smart phone and detach, reflect and recharge.” In this passage, Leopold is suggesting that in order for people to think for themselves they have to let go off their phones and detach themselves from any technology.. A point made by author Doug Gross suggest cell phone use in today’s society is an addition. More specifically, Gross shares a study from an anthropology professor at the University of Alabama, that says just
In the two given passages, the authors used evidence to support their purpose. In passage number two, the author supported his purpose furthermore successfully in terms of supporting with evidence and style. It says in passage two, “They should be placed where they will be safe.” This was his
One of the many characteristics of a story would be, tone which can be summed up in one word at least. Tone is, the author’s attitude or focus on a specific point toward a subject, in other words, tone would be amount of focus that the author puts towards a subject in a passage. The tone of this passage in my opinion would be, realistic, and adventurous. The reason why I believe this is because throughout the story there is nothing mystical; everything seems to be realistic. For example, in the text it directly states, “Let me tell one thing to show. In the washing-place, a thing said "Hot" but it was not hot to the touch—another thing said "Cold" but it was not cold. This must have been a strong magic but the magic was gone. “ This demonstrates
Marc Ching and his organization Animal Hope and Wellness Foundation and their reckless actions have placed a great many people in danger and has already cost the lives of hundreds of dogs. In 2016 he fraudulently claimed to have saved 1,000 dogs at the Yulin Festival, but some writers who have no right to call themselves reporters wrote glowing articles while a majority of these dogs died a tragic and completely preventable death.
When I first signed up for University 101 back over the summer I thought that this class was a waste of time, and was just an easy credit. But I was wrong. University 101 ended up being my most demanding class and I was upset because I felt like none of the journals, activities, and discussions were useful or even worth my time. But I was wrong again. My UNV 101 class was different from the rest, it was different because I was a part of Opportunity Network. Opportunity Network has three instructors and I was very grateful to have Ms. Ebony to be my UNV 101 professor. Ms. Ebony and I became extremely close during this semester. Ms. Ebony encourage me to do nursing again ,even when I wanted to give up and start all over because I wasn’t doing
In my second block Accelerated English class, I believe that I deserve at least a B based on my behavior, attendance, and participation. I would like to have faith in the idea that my behavior is pleasing and acceptable. For example, I have never gotten a referral both in English class and in school in general. Although I shout out sometimes, I try my best to not let this happen. I have to admit that my attendance isn't the finest, however I attempt to only miss school if I am sick, and if I am sick and/or absent, I make up my work as quick as I can. Finally, I conclude that my participation is superb. I always complete my work and I strive to do everything I can to secure an excellent grade in English. Therefore, based on my behavior, attendance, and participation in English class, I deserve at least a B.
The purpose of the Middle Passage was to improve many Europeans and Americans, but the Africans who were enslaved suffered inhumane conditions and mayhems during these voyages. The total number of Africans that were imported to the New World by the slave trade ranged from 25 million to 50 million; as many as half died at sea. The death rate was so high due to diseases and starvations because of the length of the passage. The amount of food and water lessened the longer the voyage. The core contributors to the death toll were dysentery and scurvy. In addition, there were outbreaks of measles, small pox and syphilis, and other diseases spread rapidly in those close-quarter compartments. So it was very likely if one the bodily fluids of the person

Many people believe that material things will bring you peace and happiness. That is not always that case though.Everyone at some point in their life had gone through something that they thought would have a major positive impact on their life, but ultimately, it affected them very negatively. These can include anything from money, to power, even to women. Bernard Malamud explains these example in his book, The Natural, with his character, Roy Hobbs. Roy is the Knights star baseball player, when all goes wrong. He starts to chase different women, believing that those people will lead him to happiness in the end. Roy Hobbs is the main character in the book, The Natural, who finds himself in tough situations, and finally discovers that what he wanted from the start, won’t actually make him happy in the end.
Starry Night is a beautiful painting, representational in the type of art. The size of the painting is 29 in. by 36 ¼ in., and oil on canvas were the materials used. Van Gogh is using an expressive quality and an emotionalism viewpoint. On the left side of the painting, there is a group of black lines that curve in waves upward, coming to a point. To the lower right, there is a small town that leads up to hills and then mountains. The painting is set at night, and the sky is a wondrous swirl of bursting blues, greens, and a gentle yellow for the crescent moon that is in the upper right corner. Lighter values of blue shape the outlines of large stars in the sky, though some stars are smaller than others. Sometimes, there is a yellow dot,
In Up Front by Bill Mauldin one of the major themes is how important communication is during the war. Communication is a major factor when it comes to success in the war. Individual divisions need to be in contact with each other as well as family and friends at home. Bill Mauldin exemplifies this when he discusses the Stars and Stripes newspaper and 45th Division News in Up Front. Furthermore, a quote from the American General Dwight D. Eisenhauer and a propaganda picture produced by Winchester help support this theme. These three accounts together help show different aspects of communication in the war and how each is important. Although they all show different parts of communication for the war they all come together to show how it has changed the nature of American ideals.
