Declaration of Independence is a sacred part of American history, one that at the time its purpose seemed as likely as the parting of the Red Sea. Yet it all came to the art of communication through words to grant independence and freedom to people of the land that now we call “United States of America.” Thomas Jefferson, a founding father of the constitution, was chosen, between the five in the committee appointed by congress, to write the declaration of independence. After writing the original draft, he consulted with the committee and changes were made to create the revised version of the declaration. Political and moral equality were the common beliefs of colonial Americans in the 18th century, widely spread by Christianity. In his original draft, Jefferson referred to truths such as “ all men are created equal,” and that “they are endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights” as “sacred & undeniable.” These truths are one of the most intrinsic social moral principles ever articulated; yet they were capable of being denied, and in fact were at the time. The revised version of the declaration of independence refers to these truths as “self-evident.” to better represent an argument against the divine rights of kings. The divine rights of kings had been used to justify the rule of might over right for so long. By labeling human equality and the right of rebellion against an unjust government as “self-evident” declaration of independence questions beliefs that are against what is stated in the declaration and asks people to choose between a status quo where the king is always right and god chooses some people to be special or a rebellion because all humans are created equal and deserve equal
