This month’s quote is “There is always, always, always something to be thankful for.” -Oprah Winfrey. To me this quote means that no matter what you get in life you should be thankful for it because there are people in the world that don’t have what you just got. You should be thankful for everything even if you don’t like it just be thankful. Sometimes it might be hard because you don’t like it but you will get through it and you will be happy that you didn’t just complain. It might not seem like a big deal but it is because some little boy or girl across the world is starving and thirsty and you just got something that they will never have. You might be worried about what shoes you just got but they are worried about if they are still
In conclusion everyday we feel gratitude for something sometimes not even knowing it and it is a big thing in our lives that affects us a lot. People getting something for you, your parents buy you something that you want or just something happens that is just makes you happy and it makes you feel
Pepsi Co. and Coca Cola, both are very well known multinational companies. They are so famous that they perhaps don’t need any introduction since almost everyone knows basic info about these companies and their widely used products. Both of these companies have been dealing in the production of flavored waters, plain drinking water and soft drinks for decades now and have always been each other’s competitors in almost all the mainstream products they have been producing.
First off, I really liked your response due to the fact that I also addressed this question, and I was able to gain a different insight from your discussion board on things I did not include in my response. For instance, the way you explained how first point of view gave strength to the overall idea of history brining pride to many Chicanos not only showed great analysis, but also supported your argument regarding the character’s strong identification with his culture. You use a quote to support your answer and further analyze the quote and speak about the effect cultural heritage and history has on the person Joaquin is.
The first quote I would like to share is, “The church was not only a social hub but also a constant reminder of that dangerous era when the U.S. government wanted Mohegans removed from the hill” (Fawcett, 12). I found this important to our readings because of the interconnection and symbol the church was to the Mohegans’ community. It represented their strength in standing their ground to their traditions and region in which they resided in with the hopes of the U.S. government to leave them alone. This type of establishment taught Gladys Tantaquidgeon to cherish the education she was being provided at home of learning the Mohegan traditions. Gladys showed a promising future to inherit the Mohegan traditions in which three nanus or otherwise
Min is a potter from the town of Ch'ulp'o that processes many weaknesses. One major weakness of Min is that he is too much of a perfectionist. One One quote that shows Min is a perfectionist is "If ever you learn to make a pot it will not be for me... The potter's trade goes from father to son," on page 95 from the book "A Single Shard". This quote proves that Min will always follow the rules regardless of anything else. A perfectionist is one who always follows the rules and needs everything to be exact. The quote above shows that Min will not teach anyone but his own son to make a pot. Unfortunately for Min, his son died. Another quote that one would say proves Min is a perfectionist is "Min never failed to reject his first attempt."
Why can't you be successful? Maybe the only reason people are successful is simply because of luck. Benjamin Franklin once stated that diligence is the mother of good luck. While there are factors in our lives that can’t be controlled, ultimately it’s up to the individual to overcome their obstacles. With that being said many of the factors that can not be controlled can expand an individual's success.
Being thankful for what you already posses is essential for living a happy life, as it is healthy to focus on the things you already have and to not focus on the things others have. In the story “Marigolds” by Eugenia W. Collier and the story “The Monkey’s Paw” by W.W. Jacobs, both authors gives examples as to why it is important to be thankful for what you already have, and to not dwell on what others might have that you don't.
Steve Jobs said “the ones, who are crazy enough to think that they can change the world, are the ones who do.” This saying mean person who effort and creative to their work, they can shape the world their desires. Person who want desire the world they need work hard enough and assert itself. In the Outliers, Malcolm Gladwell write 11 chapters about success and to become an outlier, people who practice 10,000 hours to become a success, people who have a different cultural legacy they can change their life and to become an outlier, and people who effort they can change disadvantage to advantage. Although Malcolm Gladwell assert “if you work hard enough and assert yourself, and use your mind and imagination, you can shape the world to your desire”, people can success their self, people who practice 10,000 hours than they can success, cultural legacy change their life and to become an outlier and when people effort hardly
Some people do not appreciate their life, and are not thankful for what they have. I think this message is focused more towards kids, and young adults for the reason being that at these ages we have not yet experienced life so we think of it as nothing, and take things for granted. But, as we get older, we start to realize we should treasure every day here on this planet. I think it is this way because as we age we become wiser and more thankful for the time we have here on earth. I am grateful for my time here because I know that everyone dies but not everyone lives, and luckily I am
In the book “I Beat The Odds” by Michael Oher, i was inspired by one important quote. On inspiring quote is on page 69 It states “”it's better to build boys than build men””. His mom is neglecting and he he read a quote from the founder of Chick-fil-A and he says that it's true and it's much easier to reattach the everything when they are young so that gives them hope. This quote is inspiring to me because my dad is trying to make me a man and not let me live my life as a normal 13 year old would and so that is why this quote is inspiring to me. I will let my kids be themselves when they get to the age to make their own decisions and i will teach them to be a boy not a man when they are at 9 years old. Also my kids if my kids were in that
I cried the first time I went on an airplane alone. My aunt, enlisted as emotional support by my mother, had clearly been prepared for this moment. Sitting down in front of me, she said, “This too shall pass”. It’s not an original quote--it’s a Persian proverb--but it provided the needed comfort.
I believe this quote highlights how the constitution is not failing minority people but working as it was designed many years ago. America is a very complex country and was created with the false reality that by living here you entitled to liberty. But unfortunately, this country isn't as open as it claims to be. "they enable the elite to keep control with a minimum of coercion" this section of the quote stood out to me because it highlights the fact that often people hold themselves back because they don't see themselves are masters of their own fate.
If there were only one article allowed on this site, it would contain quotes about gratitude. The power of gratitude is something that I've always known on a low-key level but just started to really understand in the past 10 years and really started to be passionate about in the past year. I truly believe that feeling and expressing gratitude is something everyone should be doing to improve their mind, body, and spirit. It's free. It's available to everyone. And it can impact your life is so many ways. Following are some quotes about gratitude that make it clear how awesome it is.
Westward expansion, although simply a pact to move westward caused conflict and anger to Northern and Southerners. This tension rose due to the fugitive slave act, and the Kansas-Nebraska act. In 1845 the phrase manifest destiny was coined. Many Americans assumed it was their God-given-right to spread westward, bringing American culture with them (285). This phrase empowered Americans to move west, however, conflict arose in the conquest of lands such as the annexation of Texas which led to the Mexican-American War, acquiring California and New Mexico. These newly acquired lands led to pressing questions if they would be free or slave states which was a precursor to the climactic fugitive slave act. In 1850 President Taylor enacted the 1850 Compromise. Taylor agreed for California to become a free state under the Union, for New Mexico and Utah to decide if they were free or slave states through popular sovereignty, and the slave trade to be abolished in the District of Columbia (310). However, the fourth and most controversial portion of the 1850 Compromise was the Fugitive Slave Act. This stated that it was Americans moral duty to return escaped slaves to their masters, there was a $10 reward for individuals who returned a fugitive slave, so the number of kidnappers increased leading to escaped slaves to be returned to their masters (310). This caused anger to accumulate among Northerners, Nash states, “In a few dramatic episodes, notably in Boston, literary and
“Be grateful for small things, big things, and everything in between. Count your blessings, not your problems. - Mandy Hale
